Time passed as they settled down. Eb had given them seats in the staff room to relax and think over things. Vanadinite sat expressionless as she pondered their situation, forgetting to blink her eyes. Tiger was in the middle of washing her claws as the television screen switched to a reporter. It was a dark scene only lit up by the streetlights. Two wounded men could be seen carried away into an ambulance as the reporter spoke.
"This just in. The emergency services got a report from an anonymous source that a fight had broken out just by Empire Park. Two adult men have been recovered from the scene with unknown injuries as of now, but they appear to be alive. A witness who wishes to remain anonymous claims to have seen a short orange figure with claws and a tall pale figure with red eyes confront the men. Both the figures were described as wearing holiday sweaters and were quickly on the run towards the city square. If you have seen these two figures, let-"
The screen shut off. Eb shook his head with a delighted grin. "Well, ya didn't kill 'em. That's the good news."
Tiger's eyes were standing glued to the screen. The sink could still be heard flushing over her claws after having been left unattended. "Don't waste the water, Tiger."
"That's.. good, right? They'll be fine."
"Good's a relative term. I'm not sure we can ever walk the city again. At least not with these sweaters on."
"Would ya wanna refund?" Eb jested, a throat-heavy chuckle escaping him.
A loud and clear knock was heard on the entrance door. The sink went quiet, as did everyone else, the only sound remaining being the constant buzz of the television. Eb looked at Vanadinite, then at Tiger, before looking back at Vanadinite.
"I'll take care of this one. Keep quiet back here."
Eb moved out of his seat, walking back into the store. He'd peek out the blinders before opening the door. Sounds of exchanging murmurs could be heard, murmurs that were out of Vanadinite's hearing. She stared at the black and white dotted screen as the white noise cancelled out her thoughts. The voices suddenly became louder before settling down. Eb closed the door. Tiger rushed back to her seat, as Vanadinite noticed only now that she had spied in on the conversation with the strangers, but she couldn't bother giving her a lesson more than a look of disapproval. Eb came back through the staff door with a serious expression on his face.
