Euclase was now getting into a real dialogue with the Csarite, step by step. The Csarite on her part seemed to open up. She did after all present them with what can be considered her biography on Earth. Radiant had to respect her diplomatic skills. She would've made a good diplomat, but one can't complain. One takes what one is given. At least she gave her position as the supervisor of this facility all the honour.
She had made a good move against Csarite. Radiant, though not always aware of it, was used to regarding emotions and emotional talk as games: sometimes amusing, sometimes frustrating, sometimes interesting, sometimes dangerous, but games nonetheless. And just like in any game, one had to play right. Radiant, or so he thought, saw through Euclase's move. Of course this Csarite way childishly naive and emotional. So of course the old sympathy shtick would find suitable strings within her heart to tear. Of course he didn't expect Euclase to be doing it completely on purpose, completely neutrally, considering her opinion on his... condition she stated the first time they met in his office. But what did it matter? The result was the same.
The Csarite's empathy got her cornered. Uncertainty and anxiety was to be expected. He at the very least had all the time in the world, so there was no hurry. The Csarite could think about the offer to save more than a thousand gems all she wanted. But exactly where was the interesting question. Euclase wouldn't let her go off to that miserable little rock now would she? Radiant certainly wouldn't. He leaned his elbow on a console and whispered into his own hand. And if one had an acute sense of hearing, one would've heard some mutterings: "Euclase, you wouldn't..."
