Primary Facet 8 Kindergarten: Abandoned Gem Incubation grounds.
There has long since been whispers of this strange place by humans, legends and ghost stories of the lifeless valley, where the dirt wheezes and the air rasps. Where endless walls of deathly still cliff faces are adorned with silhouettes said to be carved out by lingering souls of the deceased, and where strange machine bacteria crawl and harvest those foolish enough to enter.
For most humans it’s said to be a place where all bad things go to perish.
For gems, it is a place where most of them are born.
For gems, it is a place where most of them are born.
The Kindergardens are the primary birthplace for most of the Gem Empire, large swathes of prospective Colonies are analysed and studied before being cordoned off to have their resources harvested to aid in the incubation of new gems. A process that has existed for as Long as most gems can remember. The Earth was not to be any different. While intending to be one of many The Kindergarden in Facet 8 was to function as Earths Primary Gem Incubation Spot.
The Location was ideal, the Soil and Earth was mineral Rich, allowing a unique opportunity to incubate and create many types of Gems within the same area, expanding outwards soon the Kindergarden ended up as a mazelike linkage of ravines that one could easily get turned around in without help. The Grasslands and shrubbery soon wilted and died, the sound of birds and animals replaced with the buzz of Peridots and other gems monitoring the drone of injectors as they continued to draw minerals out of the Earth. Inhospitable for Organic life, but very beneficial for Gem life.
For a time the location remained alife with this buzz of gem machinations, even if the population of technician changed from day to day. Until one day the message came down, an exhausted Peridot, stumbling and tripping over her own feet as she ran to relay the message. The Galaxy Warp was demolished, the communication hub was destroyed, and they were all trapped on this planet with no way to contact Homeworld or Even the Moonbase above. A murmur of concerns ran through the Kindergarden from that news, without future orders, without guidance, and with what would soon be dwindling resources. The Kindergarden, for the first time in hundreds of years, fell dormant.

With the Cuttoff in full swing those with a more adventure disposition elected to move out, intending to perhaps find answers, or some form of rescue. The reasonable taking the warps to try and convene with other stranded gems, the daring electing to leave by foot to attempt to discover answers some other way, and then finally those elected to remain behind.
Those who remained behind though soon found themselves given no option but to flee. The guttural roar had echoed throughout the ravines as a beastly creature hurled through the desolate landscape, followed by a monster of aerial ability chasing afterwards. A dangerous precursor, for shortly afterwards monsters of all shapes and forms began to swarm and lurk through the kindergardens. Many tried to fight back, finding themselves defeated or driven back by the first wave of the ‘corrupted’ gems. Most others elected to flee any direction they could, and many found themselves victims of these beasts regardless of their choice. Word spread fast from those survivors and soon the kindergarden found itself condemned and truly left abandoned. Only left to the few brave who elected to return to investigate, suffice to say hardly anyone who did this returned, and those that did could find no answers, only claiming that these things, were Gems or some form, twisted and distorted by something they did not know off, and that for some reason the kindergarden seemed to harbour a concentration of these infected gem.
For now the Kindergardens is not vied for by either side, considered a metaphorical no man’s land that neither side is willing to throw gems into to regain. Left truly derelict, some have been left to only speculate on why out of all places the Primary Kindergarden seems to draw so much corrupted gems into it. Some believe that in their damaged and hazed minds the corrupted gems find some comfort in returning to a place similar to their first memories, the memories of their formations, exiting out of the ground. Even if this Kindergarden is not the one they formed in. Others though have a more insidious speculation, that the concentration of corruption is present there because the Primary Kindergarden was a Ground zero for the Corruption.
Still with the conflict between Rebels and Loyalist, and the danger present with exploring the place, it seems the mystery still remains about what, if any, connection the Kindergarden has to the corruption.
