it was a calm day in the forest. The trees had beautiful leaves, the flowers were blooming, the animals were doing their everyday stuff, while ignore the creature that was traveling through the forest.
Sphalerite was walking around in the forest. She hadn't seen any humans or gems in a while and was just enjoying her time alone. It had been a few years since she came near a gem actually. Ever since coming to this planet, she started doubting what she learned back home. She kept walking around, looking at the ground and ignoring everything around her. "Why is everything so confusing!" She yelled out of no where. She started walking around a big oak while talking to herself. "First I thought this place would be annoying, then I start loving it, then gems are starting to turn against home world. And I want to help earth... but I don't want to betray my home..." she kept walking around the tree for a while until she got tired of this and just sat down with her back against the tree. "If only I knew what to do..." She whispered while closing her eyes.
Indicolite was having a positively wonderful day. He had spent the early morning forging weapons and selling them off to the humans for some currency, and now we was enjoying a walk in a forest relatively far from Beach City. He didn't particularly enjoy going too far from the seaside town, but this was the nearest change in scenery and he was determined to enjoy himself. Of course he eventually heard a loud shouting from deeper in the woods, and Indy's curiosity forced him to investigate in the direction that he had heard it from. As he got closer to the source of the noise, he found that he couldn't pinpoint the exact location of the shout and stood with his arms crossed in front of an oak tree. He looked around and scratched his head, all the while mumbling to himself, "I coulda sworn... was it from here... maybe I'm losing my mind..."
Sphalerite was still thinking when she heard someone mumbling. She opened her eyes and stood up, looking around. "Who is there? Show yourself!" She yelled out the the creature. She looked again, but saw no movement.
"if you're human, then be aware that I'm a powerful... creature who came from the sky to... help you gain stuff..." she sighed softly and muttered softly to herself. "I hope he or she believed that stuff, tho it is true in a way..."
She tried to make her shadow look taller by standing on her toes, hoping that it was just a human who believed everything. She didn't want to fight at the moment but knew that there was always a chance that she had to. So she watched every move so, when needed, she could summon her weapon and fight her way out of here.
Indy nearly jumped out of his gem skin when he heard someone shout at him out of the blue. He had a split second to realized that he had actually been quite accurate when it came to guessing where the shouting had come from. He then heard the voice again, warning him that it was.. a powerful creature? It was at this point Indicolite burst out laughing in a fit of relief. "Alright Alright you got me, but you should definitely know, there are definitely quite a few humans that know what gems are." He could hardly get the words out through his giggling, and he bent over to catch his breath.
After regaining his composure, Indy stood up again to see that the other gem was attempting to intimidate him by casting her shadow in his direction. "Okay, look. How about we talk this through instead of playing mind games with each other." He shifted his weight uneasily, now that he thought about it, he might be dealing with a formidable gem, and it wasn't always wise to be humorous with stronger opponents. He looked around at the ground casually, if he needed to, he'd use everything at his disposal to fight off the unknown threat.
Sphalerite was in shock when she heard laughing. "I guess he doesn't believe me..." When she heard him talking about humans and gems, she knew that he wasn't a normal human. At least she thought so, while the creature kept laughing. "Okay, look. How about we talk this through instead of playing mind games with each other." She thought a little and sighed. "Ok. But I warn you! No funny business." She walked around the tree and look at the creature.
She saw a blue male with messy hair and blue clothes and slightly skinnier then average gems... When she looked closer, she noticed the blue gem on his head. "You're... a gem? I haven't seen an other gem in a long time..." She sighed and looked at him with a small smile. "I guess it's nice to see an other gem again." She quickly looked serious again and got ready to defend herself. "But don't think that I won't fight you if needed."
Indy turned to see the red gem come around the tree and released the tension in his body when he saw that we was another gem, a skinny looking one at that. He snorted as she made the smart observation that he too was a gem. Indicolite arched an eyebrow as she spoke and crossed his arms before responding, "That's interesting... I suppose... well, I'm Indicolite, but you can say Indy for short..." Indy shrugged and turned away, "Well, now that I know what you are, I can go back to my walk" His only reason for coming to the area was to investigate the shouting, but now that he saw she was no threat, well, he had no purpose to be there. "Well, see you around."
"indicolite..." She watched him leave when she realized that she would be alone again. "wait!" She shouted while running after him. "I'm Sphalerite, it's nice to meet you." She walked next to him and looked at him. He acted much calmer than the other gems that she had met. And he wasn't forcing her to choose a side. Even after he saw that she was a gem.
"So... Why aren't you questioning me? Don't you want to know if I'm a traitor to home world or not?" She thought for a while and muttered softly. "But I guess, it's been years since I saw an other gem so maybe that stuff was just a little issue between a few gems." She looked at the trees and creatures around her while walking, wondering what she had missed.
Indicolite looked at her curiously when she rushed to keep up with him, accompanying him on his little stroll. He arched an eyebrow as she let loose a flurry of questions and statements, which seemed to be a recurring theme in this gem. After waiting for her to finish, he replied, "So what, you want me to question you and pester you with allegiances?" Indy smile slightly to let the joke sink in before once again talking, slowly but thoughtfully this time, "Well, in all seriousness, I don't really care if you're a traitor to the homeworld or not, and as for it being a just a little issue, it's not. you'd be surprised to see just how zealous some gems can be to their faction. The fact of the matter is, I've decided to remain neutral, like you I assume?"
Sphalerite thought a bit about what he said. It was weird to hear about an other neutral gem. "I guess a lot has changed these years then. Last time that I saw a gem, I was the only one who didn't pick a side. At least, I think I was. I was kinda hoping that the whole thing was over tho. Even if I don't care who wins." She smiled softly while thinking back at all the times that the humans were kind to her, but also the times they weren't. They were so strange, but gems weren't that different. they were just as kind to her, as they could be mean. "both sides can be just as cruel as they can be nice. So why should I care about them all..."
Indicolite stopped his walking to turn to the gem beside him. "However, you should care, whether or not you choose or side, or if you drop out of gem society, it doesn't change the fact that there are gems fighting, other gems. He let the point sink in before continuing his stroll. He let out a small sigh as he considered Sphalerite's second statement. "But you are right, both sides are incredibly aggressive when it comes to interacting with each other, and that makes it hard to choose a side I suppose." Indy walked in silence, taking in the peace of the forest around him. "So... are you from homeworld? Or are you from the Kindergarten here on Earth?" Indy asked the question casually, hoping to spark another conversation.
The green gem camouflaged decently into the forest background, trying to be quiet as he stalked the two gems curiously. He nearly lost his cover earlier when he fell over giggling when red one started talking about "Being a powerful creature from the sky to help them gain stuff" But he was now sitting on top of a tree, eavesdropping on their conversation about the conflict between Earth and home world. He watched the two intently, not to be creepy, or evil, just out of pure curiosity. He enjoyed seeing how other gems, and sometimes even humans, interacted. Sometimes he was good at talking to people, but other times he wanted nothing to do with it. This was one of those times.
Sphalerite listened to his responds. Maybe she should care more about others. even if most don't trust her or believe her when she tells stories, there were still others who were kind enough to trust her and offer her help. "I guess you're wright, gems are still fighting. I just wish I could help them all without people thinking I'm picking a side... But I can still help others when I see it. Gem, human, animal,... if they need help, and they won't attack me I'll try to help." when he asked where she came from, she smiled again. "I'm from home world. An amazing place full with amazing gems! But after a while I wanted to see other places and here I am. On a place with other creatures who need help with everything." She looked at the sky for a while and then back to Indy. "How about you Indy? Are you a home world gem?" She was very curious, since they could have something in common, that or he could teach her differences between home world gems or kindergarten gems.
"Yep you guessed it, I'm from the homeworld." He answered the question casually while shrugging, it was small talk, and Indy enjoyed it. "I've been on Earth for quite awhile, and I've come to enjoy it just as much as the next gem. I find.. well... pretty much everything about humans interesting. They've actually advanced pretty quickly for such a young species, and they've somehow climbed to the position of dominant creatures of the planet despite lacking in strong physical features. He continued walking, thinking of something else to say. "And don't sweat picking a side right now, even though the conflict is important, you can always pledge your allegiance at a later time, there might even be an advantage in waiting."
Chalk listened carefully to their conversation, continuing to keep his cover. He carefully jumped into a tree closer to them, a graceful Grand Jete (a ballet move that involves jumping) He landed with a elegant pirouette. He continued to watch the two as the talked about home world. The blue one said something about picking sides. The green gem wasn't really sure about which side he was on. He loved Earth and its people, but he also loved home world.
He was listening so intently that he didn't realize he was slowly slipping off, while he didn't prevent himself from falling, as soon as he hit the floor, he dived behind a tree and some underbrush. ~That was really close~
Sphalerite nodded a few times at Indy was saying and laughed a little. "It's still funny when they discover something for the first time, while we already have more advanced things." She said while remembering some discoveries. "But I love the human children the most. They're so innocent and have the wildest dreams." After a while she thought that she heard something and looked around, but didn't see anything. 'That was weird.' she thought while keeping a closer eye to her surroundings. "Hey Indy, did you hear something to? A sound that doesn't belong here. It could've been my imagination tho." She took another look but shrugged her shoulders. If something would attack them, she would be able to fight it. And Indy seemed like someone who could protect himself.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
