The game was definitely going the way Chalk wanted it to, his opponent was down to their last few cards, but there was a lot at stake, there was a huge pile of cards on the table, and his opponent had just played a joker. Chalk put down the next cared and nearly screamed and flipped the table over... A three. Now the tables had turned, and his opponent had the upper hand, and he had at most thirteen cards in his hand. The game lasted on, the tide constantly turning, each had nearly one at least three times now, but there was always a game changing play. the both had practically there whole pile in the stack. His he played a joker, then his opponent put down his last card, a joke- *SLAP* Chalk had one, slapping the stack and winning the game. He let out a sigh of relief, who knows what would have happened if he lost?
The smirk on Carbonado's face was absolute as he walked past the fallen Black king, his arms on his hips as he swaggered his way towards the exit. Finally, he had gotten past the king, and by a far margin, mind you. He had lost nearly no pieces during this particular confrontation, and had finished the Black King off in a very few number of turns. He guessed human games were just too easy for a gem.
"Bring your A-Game next time, king." he said with a smirk as he sauntered past the exit, noting the next chamber wasn't visible yet. He still had to walk a bit; didn't matter though; he was in a fairly good mood; it wasn't often that he got to feel smart.
Chalk steps into the next room, absolutely ecstatic due to his victory in the previous chamber. The room seems like a simple trap. A bridge over a pool of lava that leads to the exit. ~i've been and here long enough to know there's something more to this~ he cautiously walks over the bridge. He reaches the other side, without conflict? He surveys the room again. "Maybe the trap in this room was broke-" ~of course~ He thought to self as a rather large suit of armor emerged from the lava. "It just can't be that easy." He sighs pointing the palm of each of his hands at his enemy. Green light builds up in his palms and fires at the suit of armor. His opponent got knocked back a little, though, no obvious damage was done. He tried to jump over his enemy, only to have his leg grab mid air. The suit of armor threw him against the wall. Chalk got up very slowly and summoned to giant chakrams. He threw them both simultaneously at his enemy. They both claimed harmlessly against the armor. ~only one ideal left~ he summoned an energy barricade and flipped it over to use as a hover board. He started speeding at his enemy but jumped off halfway through and let the board run in to the suit of armor. His opponent started shaking violently, electricity visibly jolting throughout his body. The suit of armor poofed and the exit door open. He was really hoping this whole "trial" or whatever it was, would be over soon.
Carbonado pursed his lips as he glared around the room. A bunch of statues dotted the chamber, most of them looking exactly the same, with varying degrees of wear. The black gem didn't really get what he was supposed to do there, though. Nothing seemed out of order; the statues were obviously related to whatever challenge he was supposed to complete, but he couldn't for his life understand what. Well, you know what they say... When in doubt; kick it to death.
The Black gem's leg snapped like a whip towards one of the statues, cleaving through it as hot knife through butter and sending the upper part of it sailing across the room, where it slammed into another statue, making them both fall.
"Seriously." He said flatly. He had honestly been expecting all the statues to suddenly start attacking him or some- BASH!
The Black gem's head snapped forward as he was smacked from behind, gritting his teeth as his leg kicked back, sending the statue that had nailed him flying. Turning around, his fist tightened... only to see nothing. All the statues were dead still, and he could not see the broken pieces of the Statue he had just kicked.
Which meant there was one statue that moved in the room. A stealthy one at that. And the fact that it was just one was somehow a lot more terrifying than if the entire room had been filled with them.
Chalk fell unconscious as he entered the next room. He woke up in a sterile white room with a single large window peering out into a room that looked exactly the same as the one he was standing in. ~please don't tell me have to fight that stinking goo monster again!~ he went around the room putting his ear up to the walls and knocking lightly to see if they're follow. They were hollow. He walked up to the window and peered into the other room. Nothing. As he looked closer he realized something, he couldn't see his reflection in the window. ~Somethings odd about this room~ He thought while continuing to search for more clues. He continue to search for 15 minutes or so. A sudden realization hit him. "Dream!" He wakes up back in the corridor from the previous obstacle to the next. ~that must have also been an obstacle~ he thought as he continued to the next room.
The black gem's turned around quickly as he heard steps behind him, not finding anything if his frustrated growl was anything to go by. This wasn't working! Somehow, the little piece of scrap always managed to dodge his eye whenever he thought he had found it. It was frustrating, to say the least. His teeth were grounded hard against each other as he glared across the room, the multiple, still statues pissing him off. The pieces of crap were just helping the other thing hi-...
A statue flew across the room as Carbondo threw a round house kick its way, cracking his fingers a bit as he lowered his leg to the floor. He started to stretch, his eyes narrowed as he glared acorss the room.
"Go ahead. Stay still. There's only a finite number of you here!" Suddenly, he leaped, destroying yet another statue with flying kick. "I will eventually get to you!"
Chuck stepped into the next room. There's a pool of water, there were sharks, piranhas, and other aquatic predators. And even worse..: he had to get wet. He cannonball into the water and started firing energy backwards to try to get into the other side as fast as he could. A shark nearly ate up his leg, a piranha barely missed his face, He was nearly dragged to the bottom by a giant squid. He managed to reach the other side. He was NOT happy.
Carbonado smirked rather terrifyingly as he stared at the last remaining statue... which started shivering. Good. Let the fear flow through it; let it know that Carbonado was tired of its crap! The black gem cracked his knuckles as he glared at the statue, his stare unrelenting.
"I'm gonna kick you into dust." He said bluntly as he started stretching his legs, glaring at the thing before him. It suddenly unleashed an extremely loud screech, making the black gem's teeth rattle, his eyes scrunching shut in pain before they flew wide open once again, burning with anger.
"Damn it! Enough!" He said as he suddenly leaped high in the air, before unleashing an explosion that sent him hurtling at extremely fast speeds towards the statue, his leg slicing through the rock body like a quite literal Axe Kick.
The statue's sides fell to the floor as he stood up, dusting his hands and moving towards the gate as it opened, feeling like a complete badass.
Chalk walked into what seemed to be a child's bedroom. There was a small bed, a desk with a rocket ship design, the walls were covered with dinosaurs, and toys of various shapes and sizes covered the floor. He internally awwedat this, as he searched the room for an exit. As he surveyed the room, he heard a small giggling behind him. He pivoted around, and saw what appeared to be a small human boy.
He walked up to the boy and asked, "How'd you get in here?" He asked. The boy didn't answer. Instead the child picked up a toy and shoved it towards the tall gem. "Oh, you want to me to play with you?" Chalk gleefully obliged.
The black gem yawned as he moved across a long halfway, wondering what this was all about; unlike previous ones, this particular walkway had started out completely dark, and with ever step he took forward, a sudden light flashed above him, illuminating only what was directly under him as he advanced. He ultimately found himself standing in front of a regal looking gate, with a massive lock on the door. Out of the blue, a sudden, mechanical yet feminine voice resounded across the room.
[INSERT THE GOLDEN KEY.]
Carbonado stared at it Blankly. "I don't have any key." he stated bluntly. Almost too suddenly, the place was too silent; Carbonado could swear he could hear a pin drop in Kansas.
Almost immediately, the floor he was standing on suddenly started moving under him like a treadmill, taking confused form away and throwing him through the door he had come from.
"DA F-" He gasped as he fell into a room that was entirely different from the one he had come from, looking around. A water level. Again. And inside the water... the golden key he needed.
The green gem spent a few minutes playing with the human boy, before he noticed something... peculiar. The child wasn't breathing, humans had to breath, he didn't know why, but they had to. He stood up carefully as the boy's eyes followed him. He walked around behind the human and saw something. A corrupted gem, the human wasn't human. As if the boy read his thoughts, he jumped up and kicked Chalk in the face. The green gem stumbled backwards, summoning his two chakrams. He leaped towards the corrupted gem and sliced it with both chakrams. It poofed, and the corrupted gem was teleported somewhere else. The green gem solemnly exited the room, he hated fighting children, or anything that looked like a child.
A hand suddenly burst through water, a single key in its grip as it came down to slam onto the edge of the room, the fingers digging hard on it as the owner of said arm pulled himself out of the pool. Rolling onto the floor to be on his back, the gem breathed in and out for absolutely no reason, not understanding why it felt so good to breathe all of the sudden.
'Maybe this is the reason humans actually breath.' he thought snappily as he rolled on his chest, pushing off against the floor to be on his feet; he held onto the golden key tight, glaring at it with something akin to disdain as he moved towards the exit of the room; he had been near the exit. He had been so damn near the exit; he could tell that was the exit he had been kicked out of. The fact that he even needed a key for once instead of completing some ridiculous challenge made it obvious, at least to him.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
