A short, young gem stands inside a shack made from rocks, scrap metal, and other discarded material. Inside shelves made from old planks hold random bits of human trinkets. Dice, snow globes, hats, toys, etc. In the center of the hut stands a forgotten warp. Well. Mostly forgotten. This young gem found this warp pad, covered in rubble and inactive, while running from a corrupted gem and figured how to use it after a few days of practice. From then on he spent weeks learning about humans and their culture, falling in love with them.
And this young gem's name, was Agate. Created in this kindergarten, but did not emerge till long after it being disabled and the corruption began spreading. For the longest time he had thought he was alone in the world. The only other living creatures seemed to be humans and non-sentient animals. He was one of a kind. However, as it was inevitable, Agate would meet another gem and be thrown into their world.
Agate, inside his shack, hums to himself as he organizes his collection, adding a new trinket called a "newspaper" to the shelf. "Hmmm-duh-hmmm... there we are. Perfect!" he takes a step back and admires his collection with a content sigh.
(( Feel free to just have a character warp in at the warp pad inside (probably by random) or come across the hut in the kindergarten. ))
Nephrite was toying with the warp pads, hoping, looking to find one that lead her home, apart from the malfunctioned space warp. She eventually found herself in a disused pad in the gem's hut. She blinked, and looked confused. "What is this... some kind of dwelling?" She asked, mostly to herself, then she realized there was another Gem before her. "Ah, another Gem. Hello, I am Nephrite, servant of White Diamond, and soldier of Homeworld. And you are?" She asked him. She knew there seemed a decent chance this gem was likely at least a bit unsettled by homeworld gems, as the ones she'd met so far were. She looked around her new setting, confused by the human knick knacks and trinkets. This gem must have fallen for human culture she decided, given the amount of human items lining the small walls.
If Agate had a heart, he would have felt it stop right then. Suddenly there stood a gem, like him, fairly short and young looking. There's a long pause, he wonders if this is even real. Eventually he realizes she is waiting for him to respond and timidly waves his hand, "H... hi...? My n-name's Agate..."
Agate lowers his hands and after another pause, "Another Gem? Who... what... w-where..." he obviously seemed flustered, unable to fully complete his sentence and eventually just shuts up and gathers himself with a deep breath.
With excited hand gestures, "What are you? You don't look like a human, too much color. Like... like me... and where did you come from? I thought only I could use that thing... and WHO exactly are you?!" he rests his hands back down to his sides moments after speaking, taking a couple more unnecessary deep breaths.
Nephrite seemed confused, and rightfully so. She'd never seen a gem so lost at the sight of another. "I told you already, my name is Nephrite. I'm from Homeworld. Well, not originally. Originally I'm from a small-" She cut herself off. Why was she telling him all of this, anyway? She placed her hand over her mouth as she cleared her throat. "No, I'm not a human. I'm a gem, just like you are. That's why we can both use this warp pad. We're the same race. Now then, where are YOU from that you've never seen a gem?" She was intrigued by him to a point though, curious as to how a gem had made it at all without other's guidance and assistance, or how he'd managed to avoid gem contact, unless he'd just been born, which she doubted given the collection around her.
He stands there for a while, dazed and confused. It isn't until moments after he realizes she asked him a question and replies, "Oh uh I'm uh... I'm from here." he gestures around him.
"I emerged from a wall around here, and found my way over to this 'warp pad'. I haven't seen anything but humans and... those things outside..." he glances nervously towards the make-shift wooden door before turning his attention back to Nephrite, "I didn't think there were people like me. At least, any still alive. There's so many holes... wait. If you're like me... does that mean there's a lot more gems? From all those holes?!" his eyes go wide in wonder as he imagines all the people just like him.
"Here, let me get you something and we can sit down for a bit and talk." He turns his back and begins rummaging through several cardboard boxes filled with various non-perishable food items. He comes back up with a bag of chips for him and Nephrite. He sits down on one of the many chairs (all of which are in terrible condition, probably thrown away previously) and motions for Nephrite to do the same and hands her the bag of chips, beginning to eat some himself.
Nephrite nods a bit, and takes the seat, as well as the chips. She copies his actions with said bag, and eats one, making an odd face as she does. "What an odd thing to do... eating." She put the bag in her lap. "Yes, there are more like you and I, both here and in the stars. I don't know how many are left from this Kindergarten on this world, though. I haven't been here long myself. You see, you're a gem. Why you were made I don't know, but this Kindergarten was placed here to make gems, though now it seems like it's ceased function for some reason." She sighed, and ate another chip, still confused by the act, but she felt awkward not doing it while he was.
Agate finishes his bag fairly quickly, "So... I'm a gem..." he reaches behind himself and seems to feel his back.
"So other gems were made here, like me. And now it's stopped. Alright... what about this 'homeworld' place? I don't think I've warped there yet. At least if I did, I didn't see any other gems."
Agate pauses to think for a moment before shrugging and smiling widely, "SO! How do you like your chips? You were making a funny face," he chuckles "do you want something else? Maybe a drink? I... 'find' a bunch of human food and bring it back here. Though, I don't think I need to. It's just kind of... fun!" he smiles again, ready to get her anything from his selection of snacks and drinks.
Nephrite set the bag down, and folded her hands in her lap."No, thank you. It's just, I hadn't eaten before. It's a very strange feeling. Anyway, yes, many other gems would have been born here, based on these holes in the walls. As for Homeworld, I doubt you warped there. The warp appears to be malfunctioned, and even if you had before it broke, Homeworld has gems all over the place, so I doubt you could've made it there and back without seeing at least one, though I suppose it is possible." She rolled her shoulders a bit, never having cared for being too still for too long. "No thank you on any other... snacks. And you're right, you have no need for food or sleep, though some gems to enjoy it, regardless."

The eerie ambience of silence was broken somewhat by the loud sound of glass cracking and metal sliding as a injector standing several feet behind the house toppled over loudly. Landing hard on its side and causing a small cloud of dust. Behind the injector though, hidden from view by the debris was a tallish blue gem. She had spiky hair remaining in one mass and pointing up, a strange set of glasses covered her eyes and rested on her small nose. Bright gloves wrapped neatly around her hands and her jumpsuit was two different shades of blue. Finally she had a equally bright scarf wrapped around her neck. She was hunched down at the damaged injector and was easily and efficiently pulling parts out and placing them neatly in a collection of equipment she already had ordered next to her. It seemed she had been working on this awhile and had already taken significant parts out before it had toppled over.
"Noted: Gravity is still constant at a rate of approximately 1 002 300 MGU on Planet" She mentioned quietly as she continued working
"Tech ,despite modifications, still seems incapable of M grade incubation. Moving onto a new incubator shortly." She paused for a moment looking back at the parts. "This would be easier if Intel had been able to find where Facet 3 or 5 were located" She glanced at the walls noticing some of the more irregular shapes. She pressed something near her neck "Hypothesis: Prime Kindergarten Earth seems to have unnaturally high rate of defective incubations. May explain first M incubations strange behaviour."

"Hmm, alright then. So what about-" Suddenly a loud crash is heard outside. Agate falls to the floor in surprise and runs over to hide under one of his shelves, which had most of it's trinkets knocked off from the crash. "What was that?!" he closes his eyes and hides behind his hands with his knees drawn up, waiting to see if another crash would occur.
After a pause he slowly peeks up, there seemed to be nothing indicating another crash was going to happen. He stands up slowly, forgetting he was under his shelf, and bumps his head "Ow... what... what was that? I don't think I've felt that before..." Agate cautiously goes towards the door, which has fallen off of its hinges, and begins to poke around outside.
He does a quick scan around the perimeter, spotting the fallen projector and shortly after someone or something standing above it. His pupils seem to dilate before his eyes go wide again as he runs back inside. "Ah! There's one of them out there! One of those monsters!" he runs back under his shelf, resuming his fetal position.
Nephrite jumped at the sudden crashing sound, though to her feet instead of under a shelf as her host had. She sighed a bit, seeing him cowering, but had to remind herself he'd been alone for who knows how long in this Kindergarten. She poked her head outside, and originally only saw the cloud of dust, but as her host popped his head out, she could make out the faint outline of a gem. "Monster? What're you talking about. That's either a person, or more likely, a gem." She stepped out of the hut, and raised a hand in greeting, not sure if this other being was even looking in her direction."HEY~!" She called toward them, also unsure of if they could hear her or not. Regardless, she waved her hand back and forth in an attempt to draw attention.

'Obsidian checking in, so uh, I'm making this log to document the atrocities of Homeworld and their frequent misuse of resources, gonna start with the Earth Prime Kindergarten, made for mass production of warriors. I believe the Diamond Authority KNEW that Earth life was sentient before they began to incubate new gems, but continued to proceed anyway. I intend to send my findings to my home planet....if anyone will listen or not remains to be seen'
Obsidian had just finished her log when she stepped off the warp pad, only for an injector to fall directly in front of her, shattering to pieces with the sound of ripping metal and shattering glass
"Holy Stars! This place is falling to bits....I'm suprised it all hasn't collapsed in on itself already..." Obsidian mumbled
(( Just a note, Agate's home was built around the warp pad. So while you could easily hear it, you're inside the house.
Agate looks up as he hears the sound of the warp pad activating again, "Please, PLEASE just be a gem..." he gives a audible sigh of relief when he sees it is just another gem, "He-hello? There's something out there... One of those monsters. It tipped over one of those drill things... can you... can you help?"
He looks up from over his knees and points towards the now broken door and Nephrite standing outside. He loosens his grip on his legs, but keeps himself balled up under the shelf. He quietly talks again, mostly to himself, "I didn't think any of them were around here... I thought I traveled far enough... I thought I was finally safe!" he almost yells the last few words, a mixed tone of both angry and scared.

((Prerequisite note: Blue Agate having a house built on the warp opens up so 'tricky' issue, first and foremost any other RP in the kindergarten would have to make reference to that, and people wont because they haven't read this thread. What i suggest to rectify the issue is that the house is destroyed in this thread, remembering that the Crystal Temple can make rooms for gems.))
She let out a groan and glanced over at the dingy shed and the increase gathering of gems. The irritation evident in her body language as she tapped her neck again and spoke "Position has been compromised, due to increased populace of gems." She paused before muttering to herself again "What the heck has Pyrite been doing this whole time then if so many of them are still around"
She was about to jump down from the injector when the damaged piece of metal creaked. With a loud clang the metal snapped off. She let out a startled squeak as she roughly fell down, landing straight on her butt as she realised she had landed right infront of one of the other gems, she sat there for a second looking awkward and embarrassed.
((Obsidian you need to put a link to a character app in your signature))
(( Not really my turn so just a quick post, I was assuming there was more than one warp pad, since it's a large area. So I was meaning it was built around a old unused one. But if that doesn't work I'm fine with it getting destroyed. ))

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
