Apache Tear stepped down from one of the few functioning warp pads from the Galaxy Warps, glancing around warily for other gems before scrunching up her pieces of lead glass and gem shards that she had gathered after several weeks. She had worked on warps back on Homeworld before with a specific unknown chemical- maybe this can offer as a substitute. The dark gem crouched by a warp with only a few minor cracks and applied her mixture before stepping on it tentatively. "To the Moon...?" The warp remained dormant. Apache sighed and extracted her sand back out, moulding it into a pebble and placing it back in her skirt pocket. Of course it wasn't going to work. The whole idea was rather far-fetched in the first place. "Back to searching for corrupted gems then... Earth has a quite a surprising amount of them," she murmured to herself.
Hopefully no Crystal Gem would find out that she stole some materials meant for bubbling.
Vanadinite was hanging upside down from a pillar, holding a bag of tasty snacks. She took a bite from a snack every now and then, watching the gem that she had spotted. She laughed a bit, thinking the whole situation was quite funny. "What're you trying to do? Getting to the moon?" she said, following with a questioning hum. She took yet another bite from her snacks, she must've had great balance considering the fact that she was hanging upside down while simultaneously holding a bag of snacks.
"Corrupted gems you say? Why are you searching for them? I know quite a few." she said, raising an eyebrow. She kept a happy expression, keeping up a faint smile as she looked at the world from and upside down perspective.

Apache jumped up in shock, searching wildly for the source of the sound. There was another gem? How did she not notice that? But looking upwards, there she was- a black-clothed gem hanging upside down from a pillar, eating some sort of human food. There seemed to be no kind of hostility or corruption around her, which was pretty lucky, seeing that some other gems aren't so friendly. Maybe it would be better to talk than run.
"Oh! Hello! I... didn't see you there. It was just, well, a stupid brainwave of mine. Warps can't be so easily fixed. Should have known that." She paused for a second, trying to word her next sentence carefully. "I guess I... um... kind of fix gems in early corruption. What do you do?"
Vanadinite giggled quietly towards the gem, but not in an offensive tone. Rather, supportive. The bag of snacks vaporized into a gas cloud, spreading with the air. She loosened her grip, making her whole body fall right towards the ground. The pillar extended itself, acting like a slide as she slid down upside down. The slide went up once again, throwing her right into the air. Vanadinite's body got into the perfect angle as to land right on her feet, a few cracks in the ground from the impact of her force. The slide quickly fused back into the pillar, like it never happened, and Vanadinite turned her body around, facing the other gem. She held out her hand, as some sort of yellowish gas gathered around it and formed back the snack bag. She took out a snack, only to take a bite.
"I'm Vana, and I think I just demonstrated to you what I do." she said, a faint smile on her face. "I uphold peace on this small planet, to the best degree I can. Whether it be the Crystal Gems, the Corruption, Homeworld or perhaps Rebels that are wishing harm upon oneanother." she continued, taking yet another bite from her snack. She extended out her hand in a friendly manner. "What's your name?"
Apache tried not to stare at Vana's power on the human snack and the pillar. This type of manipulation seemed unusual, even among the gems she had already encountered. It certainly seemed more interesting and entertaining than plain element manipulation. A freelance gem too? She was in luck. "I'm Apache Tear," she murmured, cautiously receiving Vana's hand before starting to regret saying her whole name. If Vana couldn't guess that she was supposed to be an Obsidian before, she could start putting figures together -and judging- now. Then she started wondering if the other gem was telepathic as well. "I can manipulate stone as well, but only when I turn it into glass," she added quickly, taking the pebble out of her pocket and moulding it into the shape of a warp before sticking it back in. "What are you doing here an-"
Her words were cut off by a hiss as several segmented creatures, gemstones gleaming indigo, climbed over the sides of the Galaxy Warp 'isle'.
Vanadinite laughed faintly. "You turn into glass? That's quite interesting. I rearrange atom's movements to turn them from solid to gas, or liquid to solid, or gas to liquid. You get the idea." she said, smiling. "I'm glad to meet you, Apache." Vana had a happy expression. "You think alot, huh? I can see it in your eyes." she said, Vana's eyes glowing as she looks into Apache's. A red mist would emit from her eyes, although it would quickly dissapear in the air.
However, her glow would quickly be interrupted from the hiss, and she would shake her head from the realization. She watched the creatures in pity. "Apache, we should get out of here. Someone might get hurt." she said, looking around herself at the creatures.
Apache stiffened at the sight of Vana's glowing eyes, but it was the corrupted gems that caused her to automatically cover her gem cheek and step away. Surely nothing was supposed to haunt her at the Galaxy Warps, out of everywhere she could encounter those creatures. Her more hidden ability already starting to trigger, Apache tried to consciously suppress herself from absorbing the new, tempting aura of corruption. It was a matter of time until they finally start affecting her. "Y-yeah, I agree. Nice meeting you, Vana. I guess I'll... come back later..." There was a fully functioning warp pad close by. The corrupted gems were not fast enough, she could try and make it... Apache held the edges of her skirt and started running, but it wasn't far until the new encounters suddenly raised their sharp tails, bodies emitting an ominous violet. All warps began glowing the same colour, from the ones around the solar system to the Homeworld warp. She did not think carefully about the somewhat familiar colour until landing on the warp and realising one thing: all warps were now in one-way lockdown. They were trapped.
Vana smiled, staying in her position, not planning on using a warp. She was going to do her best to try and tame, possibly befriend these creatures. "Yes, It was nice to meet you too Apache." she said. As the warp pads went in lockdown, her expressions went from happy to confused. "The warps aren't working? Hmm." she crosses her arms, thinking about what to do next.
As the corrupted gems moved closer, Vanadinite's eyes started glowing yet again a red light. The closer they got, the stronger it would glow. She sighed, raising her hands. The pillars would extend a wall between them, creating an obstacle to slow the corrupted gems. "Do you have any idea on how we should get out of here?" she asked. "They're too many to fight, and I don't like harming other gems, esp-" she would be cut off by herself, as she would feel pain in her eyes. She covered them the much she could using her hands, although the glow could visibly be seen getting stronger. "I-.. I don't think I can remain like this long enough.." she says, sighing. She wasn't that happy anymore.

Apache tried to remain calm, but an anxiety fit was starting to settle in, her effort to resist the temptation slowly coming undone. There were corrupted gems advancing towards her, the only other gem around has contracted some sort of overuse, and there was absolutely no way to escape the situation. A similar hiss sounded, and another mob of the same type of corrupted gem started crawling out from all around the sides of the circular Galaxy Warp. She swallowed once. "I... I don't know! It's not like any of us can fly, they're coming from around... under the... we're surrounded... I'm going to end up injured again anyway..." A desperate, hopeless idea struck. Seeing that Vana had put up a barrier to buy time, she quickly tapped the edge of it with a shaking hand, extending it out to create a similar but rather unstable glass wall from the other side. It would temporarily keep the red-eyed gem safe inside. Apache shielded her cheek and stood, paralysed, as the corrupted gems advanced. One pounced. Upon immediate physical contact, Apache was knocked to the ground. With a sick satisfaction, her second ability activated. The corrupt energy began draining into her gem.
Vanadinite realized something. They were not going to be able to do this without hurting anyone, including themselves. She took a deep breath. She kneeled down, placing her hands onto the rock floor. Vana could feel everything and everyone now. She mentally scanned the area, learning the blueprint of the warp hub. Now, incase it would get further damaged, she could reverse the damage. It was time. She knew that, she couldn't hurt the creatures, but something else could. She had never gotten a feeling like this. She was able to control her destructive power, even though if it was momentarily.
Standing up, her eyes were no longer glowing. Instead, a red mist were emitting from them. Her face was wearing an unemotional face at the moment, and she stared at some of the creatures getting near herself. She raised her right hand, which caused small pillars to form from the ground around the creatures. She then twisted her right hand, and spikes emitted from the pillars, stabbing the creatures which caused them to poof. She lowered her right hand, which caused the pillars and spikes to dissapear back into the ground. She then raised her left hand, which caused small stone bunkers surround the gems, so that they would be safe whilst also not regenerating back. She faced Apache, unsure on whether she needed help or not.
As she absorbed the corruption, Apache's original satisfaction slowly faded away, leaving hopelessness, anger, mistrust and an icy desperation for something comforting. Pictures from the energy flickered through her mind, translating themselves into phrases. Below, the hungry thoughts said. Water. Geode. No light. Need light. Liberation from functions. Serving the mistress. And then the corrupted gem turned around and walked away, their consciousness at peace for the moment. Unfortunately, fully corrupted gems can never fully heal. A flaw within this terrible species.
Apache opened her eyes again and slowly got to her feet again, noting and resenting the state of the Galaxy Warps. In the back of her mind, she was conscious of the parasite energy and willed for it to burn away faster, for herself to try and not act so terribly while she recovered. Vana had finished fighting and was carefully storing the gemstones away. Apache tried not to mind the underlying fact that the other gem had ignored an obvious suggestion to just wait until she knew the details, or that bubbling is obviously a better choice than stone bunkers. "Thought you didn't want to fight," Apache stated in a monotone voice before struggling to say something better than that. "I mean- don't mind me right now. I'm- a bad gem." Seeing how the corruption wasn't going to burn away anytime soon, she hurriedly added "Anyway, I got the message. There's a geode under the warps. Under the water. Something's trying to get out."
As she saw Apache knew how to get these things away, Vanadinite wasn't sure on what to do now. She had just used unnecesarry violence, not to mention she actually felt in tune with it which made matters worse. She shouldn't have been able to be in tune with that thing, never. The stone bunkers dissapeared, and Vanadinite fell towards the ground, like she had fallen asleep, although her eyes remained open, the glow completely dissapearing. She had just broken an oath. Willingly. Without necessity.
"Well.. this sure was interesting. That it could all end so soon, and in one of the worst places possible." she said, in a monotone voice, frowning. "Well, I suppose you could go and save whatever is trying to get out, I won't be any help. I'll soon be brought to the CRF." she says, her monotone voice not breaking.
Apache stared with underlying alarm as Vana suddenly collapsed. It was obvious the other gem was upset, but it was hard to squeeze out some characteristic comfort right then. The corrupted gem from before had been a weak one though- hopefully the excess energy would burn off before an hour passed. She frowned slightly, slowly kneeling down to reluctantly pull the other gem up. "What is going on? Should I know this CRF? Whoever they are?" Apache glanced around, voice unintentionally quivering. "Haven't you realised that the warps are still purple? They're still down. You're not going anywhere until we clean up this mess. I can't do any of this by myself. I'm- a failure. Not strong enough..."
She waited until Vana could stand before turning around to bubble the corrupted gemstones on the ground, being sure to avoid physical contact with them whilst doing so. Everything she said was turning out wrong. Her first encounter with a friendly gem was turning out wrong. And what if they never get off this platform?
Vanadinite sighed in response. "Well sorry to break it to you, but since I've broken an oath I'll have to wait for the CRF to get here. The Corruption Research Facility, a subpart of 'The Facility'" she says, staring into the ground, only to get up back on her feet. She leaned towards a pillar, her physical form looking very damaged. "I'm going to be taken to the Underground. They're a powerful force, and should not be messed with. You wouldn't know anything about it, it's a very secret-ish Facility." she says, crossing her arms. "I'm starting to get in tune with my past self, where the only thing I did was fight. I was part of the military. However, I changed. Changed to the person I am today. I don't wanna go back." she says, staring at the warp pads. "There must be a way to reactivate these."

It was not long before the ground was full of amber bubbles as Apache intently listened to Vana about her position through her own opinions instead of the corruption's. It seemed strange that if this facility researches corruption, she hadn't heard of, let alone encountered, any members of them. Or vice versa. Nevertheless, a fellow gem was in danger, and there was one thing she can do. Even though she was not finished with 'dissecting' yet. Apache took out the lead glass block and fiddled with it, creating an assortment of things- a prism, a duck, a few willow leaves. It would be best if she could just waste even a bit of the extra energy right then.
"You told me something secret about yourself, it'd only be fair if I did too." Apache struggled to push the corruption energy back, trying not to sound so frail and tired. "Remember when I said I travel around Earth to 'fix gems in early corruption'? I don't mean by I fight them. I try to heal them- I can take out negative energy from a gem by absorbing and holding it in. I could also receive a few thoughts and vibes." She paused for Vana to take all of that in before turning around to peer at the water beneath the edge of the Warps. "That last one was fully corrupted, so I'm still burning that away. I should have taken your thing before you started fighting. Now to get off, we need to somehow take on whatever is down there."
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
