Appearance: Howlite is 5'7 and is tall and skinny. He's got light blue skin and white hair in a crew cut. He's wears a black and white tuxedo. He also has black dress shoes along with the Broken Gems logo on his shoulder.

Personality: Howlite has a very split personality. His mind is divided by light and dark. His light half believes in love  and compassion. His dark half believes in pain and suffering. He gets his job done as quickly as he can then torture them slowly. He always tries to stay one step ahead of his enemy. He is a very lone wolf type gem who doesn't play well with others. Unless they're part of his pack. He believes that the pack is the strongest fighting force. When put in a group he does his best to do his own thing. He also likes to boast about his marksmanship, claiming to be the best there is. He often will show off whenever given the chance. He thinks of himself as someone who just can't miss. Despite his ego he knows not to let it interfere with his work. When at social gatherings he's a flirt and party animal. On the job, he's a complete psychopath. He believes in poofing every gem he takes down and always letting them make the first move. Howlite is a rather charismatic and insane gem who sees life as an endless party. He wants friends family and acceptance. Along with everyone having a good time.

Weapon: Sniper rifle. It's a 4 feet long rifle which resembles the L115a3. It fires a laser projectile instead of a bullet. The rounds due to being slow cannot cause much damage to a form. It's to quote NJ "like a paintball", he has to aim for the gem which only cracks a little after one shot. Just pray a gem finds him before it gets bad. The "round" does the same damage as a 30 caliber bullet and the gun is bolt action. It holds a clip of 5 "rounds" which fires 1 round a post and once he empties the clip, takes 1 post to reload. The bullet moved at 15 meters a second. It takes his whole clip to shatter.It has a range of 60 yards of 54.84 meters. So at Max range the bullet will travel for about 3 and a half seconds before hitting its target or vanishing.

Ability one: cold shot- Howlite can fire a decoy round that alters it's trajectory and spin speed according to Howlite's thoughts which allows him to shoot around corners and over obstacles. As well as hit multiple targets. The round Will keep it's speed and range just spin faster or slower.

Ability 2: tracker vision: Howlite can activate a mental tracking radar. (Think of the movie Predator) allowing him to see all nearby living things and identify what they are. The vision stops after 1 kilometer.

History: Howlite was just like any other gem on Homeworld. Well not exactly. When he was made something went wrong. He had an insatiable appetite for pain. He loved to torture and shatter. On top of that his appearance was wrong. Howlites are supposed to be pure white. He also had the ability to think for himself. So he was often treated as a monster. He wanted nothing more than to serve his diamond- Yellow Diamond. Howlite's are scout gems so he wasn't built to fight. Luckily Howlites are quick on their feet. He taught himself marksmanship to kill from a distance. He then taught himself parkour to reach vantage points and escape persuers. It also allowed him to fight without actually fighting, using his skills to evade attacks. He honed his skills and finally got into homeworlds ranks. He was so happy to serve he almost dissipated his form. Due to his talents, he would often be put in covert operations. He was in charge of taking out important targets and scouting terrain for homeworlds armies. After serving dozens tours with 180 confirmed shatterings and countless off the record kills, he was given a new task by his diamond. He was to go to Earth and hunt down the rebels. Howlite accepted the task figuring if he could thin the herd then the rebellion will soon die out. His orders were to thin the herd until he found a high profile target. Then he/she was the priority.

I mean firstly you spelt Howlite wrong in your name.

Im not sure how i feel about a high speed rifle as a gem weapon. Mainly because of a lack of counterplay towards that, if i'm a gem 700 meters away and you shoot,how am I meant to dodge that,how am i meant to get to you? Most gems only have abilities that have a range of about 10 meters and are far slower.

So ill first pose the question,how attached are you to the rifle concept,because guns have worked on here, but it will require rebalancing (Ie amping down its range and lethality by quite a bit. So i wanted to ask before we open that can of worms.

As for your first ability,enhanced agility is iffy. Mainly because we don't have a baseline agility rank for all gems,meaning its hard to tell what would define enhanced vs normal. Basically where is the line between a attack that would hit a normal gem but not you. Its a near impossible line to define and can start easily falling into god modding territory (Since you could also justify dodging any attack because your agility is enhanced from a inconsistent baseline.)

First I'm sorry for the typo, auto correct is a pain. Second I'll heavily cut down the range to roughly 60 yards which is about the range of a child's BB gun. Since the human eye can see up to 5 kilometers I figured that a gem could spot him 54.84 meters away. If it did discover his position then yes it could get to him without much difficulty. You got to remember its hard to snipe a running target that's coming towards you. He's only got a clip of 5 so for a gem running after him after 1 shot he'd only be able to make another shot if he's lucky. He has to calculate everything about the shot before shooting such as wind and gravity as well as distance so there's quite a pause between shots. I'll probably put the lethality similar to a .30 caliber because I already did the math before making this gem, they can take a 30 caliber or below with just a crack. After a few shots however he'd do some damage. I'll also slow down the round to about 15 meters per second which is 33 miles per hour. I know people who can throw a baseball faster than that. For the third topic I understand your concern with the ability so I'm gonna replace it with probably something to do with his gun if you have a suggestion. I already came up with one using sniper terminology as a play on words.

So what's the lethality like with the physical form of the gem? That was sorta the stemming issue, was just being able to one shot a gem from range,destroying their physical form before they have a chance to react, so if it can chip a gem i assume it can also take out their physical form without too much issue?

Actually the exact opposite. It's a slow moving round. It doesn't go fast enough to deliver the impact required to pop a form. Think of it like this, if your a gem and I hit you with a rock you'll just get mad. If I hit your gem with the same rock I could crack it.

May be worth mentioning then that its velocity can not destroy a physical form and is more like being hit with a....Paintball? (I feel like it would hurt more then that. I live in Australia so i'm not familiar with firearms of any variety).

I'm from the southern united States so I know a thing or two about guns. It was actually a friend of mine who brought me here.He got me into rp about a year ago and he told me he found a good Steven universe site. In case you know him he told me his name was Flint Quartz on this site. Anyways Let me break it down for you mate. A bullet is a piece of lead that for the l115a3 (that's his gun by the way) weighs between 7 to 15 grams. The only reason it kills people is the velocity. The speed gives it a devastating impact. Same concept with the gem form. I'll use Pearl as an example. The only time Pearl ever popped is because Holo pearl stabbed her. Most people say thats because it's sharp. I believe that it's all about impact because remember Holo pearl cut a tree in half with a balloon. I still don't fully understand that one.

I kid, i'm not entirely unfamiliar with fire arms (Shell and bullet together are loaded into chamber,hammer strikes shell causing gunpowder within to ignite,expanding and forcing the bullet out of the shell and out of the barrel, shell is then ejected from the side or top of the chamber and a new bullet is forced into to place by spring or other mechanism, rearming the entire mechanism),and i do know details about a fair few (By-product of looking for weapon concepts for a RWBY roleplay), so i know how a gun works and know the classification of firearms in most cases,how they load and what not.


Like i said it just was i couldn't really think of a pain equivalent for being hit by your gun.i guess it probaly would hurt like a normal bullet,just lacking the penetrating power,so like..a blank round? (I mean logically most gem weapons are made of hard light so technically you projectile would be closer to a laser or something, potentially causing it to have a tracer round 'like' effect.Unless it like your making hardlight bullets, which could also works since that is what flint does.).

Anyway now im just arguing semantics at this point

It would be closer to the blank round. And your thinking of a different Flint. My friend made a CG Flint Quartz. Anyways I'll tend to the arcs and other problems right away. I'm also on Homeworlds side. I mentioned the diamonds a few times so I figured it was implied.

Oh yeah,their was that weird coincidence where two Flint Quartzes were made at pretty much the same time, boy that got confusing for me.

Also i just asked about the faction for clarification,so i have full admittance you are on a side (Since sometimes you get people with a Homeworld history and it seems like they are Homeworld,but their first thread on Earth is when they change sides or something).Plus i had updated the character template with a Faction section,so I figured at this point i would start mentioning it to people if they had apps made around that time.


So at this point their is really nothing else left to change,i mean maybe a little more on the history, IE: Was his mission just to thin the numbers and eliminate any Crystal Gems he came across,or was their a high profile target or something he was after?

Even with that though ill still run this Unofficially accepted (You can post i just have not moved the thread).
