Name:
Variscite
Appeared Gender:
Female
Appeared Age:
30
Gemstone:
Gemstone Location: One on either cheek.
Corrupted: No
Appearance:
Personality: Variscite is, more often than not, a quiet and somewhat reclusive gem. She takes greater interest in work than socializing or exploration and even then, she prefers to be stationary. As a result, she can come off as blank, if not cold. This is not her intention however. When she is in a comfortable environment, though still quiet, she can be persuaded into light conversation and even form friendships. There is a rumor in distant space that she is a very good hugger. But all of this is Variscite on her more fair of days. Every now and then, she can grow troubled and it can be a bit of a mess. When she is distressed, she tends to act out in silence by retreating to enclosed spaces, but she can just as easily become more physical and (attempt to) destroy her surroundings. These fits aren't known to last long, but they're difficult to deal with all the same. Overall, Variscite is far happier in a neutral state.
Likes/Dislikes:
Variscite enjoys stationary work (Relaying information, reviewing orders, taking notes, etc.), cold weather, quiet, and most any hard candy. Except green flavors ironically enough.
Fears:
Disorder, loud and inescapable situations, yelling, running, intense heat, and anyone with no real sense of personal space.
Weapon: Two simple green hammers, each the length of her arm and astoundingly heavy. They have no decoration, only a green, stone head and a polished brown grip. What Variscite lacks in speed when fighting, she makes up for in pure force. She puts all her weight into each swing of her hammers which means any given blow can be devastating, but a lack of accuracy can result in her defeat. It takes a good second for her to recover from each swing.
Ability 1: Solidity. Though far from invincible, it does take a great deal to throw Variscite backwards. She is not immune to the damage she receives, only the force of the knockback.
History: Since birth, Variscite was always quiet and work oriented, not surprising as she is how she was made to be. She worked contentedly as something of a drone for many years, doing odd jobs deemed too important for higher ranked gems. Though she would have been happy in that position, her dedication and unquestioning loyalty did not go unnoticed and soon she was given more responsibility and status. She given the job of overseer, charged with silently watching over projects (and gems) deemed questionable or dangerous. She was not to intervene, only report.
After several more decades of this work, it was decided Variscite would best be put to use on Earth. Her reputation as a hard worker was well earned and at the time, there was a shortage of gems willing to do nothing more than watch. It wasn't what she wanted of course, but, always obedient, she left the Homeworld without question and has remained on Earth ever since.
That being said, were she able, now Variscite would already be gone. The Corruption shakes her to her core. She'd rather shatter than be turned into a monster.
