Ability 2: “Born fighter” Naturally knows the basics of how to use almost any weapon (exception to guns), and can make weapons of most objects, though is not quite as accurate with things meant to be thrown as darts. Is also skilled in hand-to-hand combat, to an extent.
Fusions: Will add when fusions happen!
History:
Carnelian arrived on Earth as an escort for a Surveillance Mission, chosen because of her capability to keep quiet, but also defend others in a fight if need be. The Gem that was there... never properly introduced themselves to Carnelian. During the mission, both of them had been misinformed of the population of sentient life on the planet, and they were discovered by a group of humans. They hadn't appreciated the idea of being observed, and one of them pulled out a communication device after another suggested calling the “Pole Ice” while the others circled the two. They easily jumped over the group, and they began running. Carnelian looked over her shoulder and saw one of them pointing something at the Gem she was escorting; she knew this was bad. She jumped into the object's path and heard a loud crack, then her vision went black.
When she came to, she felt some resistance of something when she tried to reform her body. Whatever this restraint was, it was no match for the Gem, and it was easily broken. Carnelian touched to the ground in her new form, and found herself starting at an awestruck human who was sitting on a... “bed”.
“Wow. Best bracelet I've ever gotten,” the young girl said, “thanks, Grandma.”
“Brace... let?” Carnelian questioned, “Was that the restraint on me? What are your plans? Where am I?”
“Slow down,” The girl said, “tell me about you first. Are you an alien or something? You know, from another world?”
“Yes.”
“Coooool. Are you here to invade?”
“No? I was on a surveillance mission.”
“So how did you end up in my bracelet?”
“You didn't put me there?”
“If I had, wouldn't I have known about you?”
“True....”
And so the conversation continued until the girl introduced herself as 25 year old Abigail, and Carnelian gave her name as well. The two became fast -if not odd- friends, as Carnelian's communicator must have been lost when her body needed to reform, and she didn't know where she was. In the time spent with Abigail though, Carnelian learned more about the Earth than any Gem could have on a simple recon mission. After a few months of the two learning about each other's races, Carnelian decided she needed to return to Homeworld and relay the information she learned. Abigail wasn't about to object, but part of her wanted Carnelian to stay, especially since the Gem didn't know where she was going to go.
“At this point, someone's either built a few warp pads or will have come looking for me.” Carnelian tried to assure Abby, “I'll be fine.”
“I hope so.” Abby replied, her gaze darting to the floor.
With that, Carnelian left.
She only got maybe a few miles from the town when she smelled something burning. Turning to see what the cause was, she saw smoke rising from the direction in which she came. Her face fell, along with her heart.
“No....”
Carnelian rushed back to the town only to find it in burnt ruins. Frantically, she searched for survivors, and managed to save a lot of people from being crushed by debris. After having spent a long time rescuing people and not finding Abby, she began to lose hope. Things on wheels... white and red... an ambulance. Help was here for the humans.
Took them long enough. Why put wheels on things if they're still slow? Carnelian thought.
The last person Carnelian had in her hands was being brought to the ambulance when they coughed in her arms.
“Abby... told me about you. Didn't believe her....”
“You know her?” Carnelian's heart skipped a beat.
“She texted me... she was going to -cough- the Arcade.”
As soon as the person was safe, Carnelian mentally smacked herself and raced to where the Arcade once stood. She arrived and yelled for Abby as loudly as possible while scanning the area. Silence greeted her at first, then a gasp for air.
“Carn...”
In a moment's notice, Carnelian was tossing away anything on or even near Abby.
“What happened? What did this?” the Gem asked.
“A... a monster. It was... it was really... crystalline in nature.” Abby sucked in a pained breath and forced a laugh, “Was it a friend of yours?”
“No friend of mine would hurt you.” Carnelian answered sternly, “Come on, let's get you to the ambulance....”
“Heh... showed up after all, did it? Is it...” another pained breath, “is it sad that I trusted you more than my own planet's system?”
“No.” Carnelian said, attempting to pick Abby up, “I... I like that you trust me. Is that considered normal?” Abby smiled briefly.
“Carn... I-I'm sorry... I never got to teach you... the best thing about life on Earth....”
“You can still teach me.”
“N-no. It's too late.” Abby gasped and coughed, and suddenly Carnelian was fully struck with how fragile humans are.
“You can!” Carnelian shouted, leaping into the air in the direction of the ambulance, “You just have to hold on!” She barely touched down and jumped up again when she heard Abby whisper her name again, and felt the human's weak grasp on her shirt. “You'll be okay!”
They landed just in front of one of the nurses; Carnelian places Abby on the stretcher indicated. The human didn't let go of Carnelian's shirt though, she only held tighter. Abby then pulled on the cloth in her hand, forcing Carnelian to bend over her.
“Carn... in case I die....” Abby muttered under her breath to the light orange face above her, then pulled a little more.
Carnelian was both confused and excited by the human's gesture of connecting their lips, but was quickly brought out of it by Abby's faint voice, and a smile even fainter, “I wanted to do that... just once. Also...” her hand finally fell from the Gem's garb, “don't wait up for me.”
Carnelian stood straight as she watched the stretcher get moved to the inside of the nearest vehicle.
“....” She was paralyzed as a million thoughts ran though her head, and the ambulances rolled away. The vehicle Abby was in fired up, and without thinking, Carnelian jumped quietly onto the top of the car.
You can't be in this condition and expect me to abandon you.
She touched her lips with two fingers, lightly, almost expecting them to fall off.
You can't do that and expect me to leave.
Carnelian spent time living silently around -and occasionally in- the room at the hospital where Abby was staying. Time, it seemed, that Gems were unable to keep track of. The day when Abby was finally pronounced dead came all too soon, and Carnelian then resumed her search for a way back to Homeworld....
