Name:
Amaranth Pearl
Appeared Gender:
Neutral/Male(too thin and facially soft to tell at a glance. For simplicity, pronouns are he/him)
Appeared Age:
Young adult-early 20s
Gemstone:
Pearl
Gemstone Location:
Suprasternal notch(dip in-between the collarbones on the neck)
Faction:
Homeworld, Pink Diamond
Corrupted:
N/A(not yet corrupted, but as he's stationed on the Moonbase Medical Center, he interacts with them)
Appearance:
Amaranth is a lithe, chiseled sort of Pearl, with pastel pink skin and a wild, wind-swept mess of silky, reddened hair that drifts about to obscure his thin brows and long-lashed eyes. His form is the picture of soft, from his gently curved nose and delicate cheekbones down to the arching knobs of his ankle joints. He wears the standard maillot of a Pearl, with a diamond pattern cut to show off his clavicle and shoulder blades along with his deep-set gemstone, and has rose-pink folds of translucent silk draped about his body from the waist down that often brush against his exposed shins as he wobbles about. He is often barefoot, but if you were to request footwear of him, carnation-pink ballet shoes would be the most common choice. He moves so gracefully the more accurate description would be to say he floats, but that's simply many thousands of years honing the skill of preforming his duties while on pointe. In private, he's stiff as a board and adamantly refuses to appear as anything less than the most well-postured Pearl in the whole sector. All in all, he's quite the pretty looking Pearl, if you're willing to go for the glittering orchid eyes and pouty lips type while confined to the Pink Diamond medical.
Personality:
Amaranth is a very reserved gem, much preferring to only speak when spoken to directly if he can afford it, but when speaking to other Pearls or given free reign can be quite the poetic flatterer. He's generally best suited to comforting cracked or temporarily retired gems, finding that his role as an entertainer and puppet to the higher castes is satisfying in a carnal sort of way. He genuinely believes that Homeworld is doing what's best for everyone, and quietly hopes that he'll be praised for remembering his obedience and properness training so well, even after countless dismissals. He's a romantic sort, always finding the positive tint even if he doesn't truly believe in it, and is fueled solely on fulfilling the needs of others. To humans, he teeters constantly on the edge of something like Stockholm Syndrome, or perhaps a horrific Operant Conditioning, for he truly doesn't consider himself nearly as high a priority or value as his fellows. He's obsessively the closest to a "perfect Pearl", and will internally crash-rather dramatically, actually-if unable to complete a set task or request.
Likes/Dislikes:
+Orders(following specifically)
+Praise(anything, really, it's a bit desperate)
+Amethysts(he finds their forms appealing)
-Disorder(messiness specifically)
-Violence(it's distressing for damaged gems!)
-Diamonds and Inner Court(he finds them incredibly terrifying, as a general rule, with Pink as the tentative exception)
Fears:
Purposeless/Ownerless, isolation. He'll go into a meltdown after a while with no authoritarian/formal contact, crying and shaking with the mere thought. In isolation, he'll most often display himself to be the picture of patience, waiting in the corner, but the longer he's alone the more fragile his mind wears down to. It's best to force engaged actions from him and give him a long, menial busywork kind of task, if you must isolate or leave him.
Weapon:
He has a long, champagne pink javelin, more of a spear-like needle of sharp light than anything, but it takes effort to conjure and he hates using it for any purpose.
Special Abilities:
Illusion, Entrancing Song
Ability 1:
Illusion: like most high-end Pearls, he can create simple holograms, of himself or things he's seen, but it isn't tangible and can't be sustained for more than a day on end.
Ability 2:
Entrancing Song: He can create a lilting, soothing tune to calm raging gems, with a weaker effect to those unconscious/bubbled/otherwise physically indisposed and unable to process the tube fully.
Fusions:
N/A(hasn't fused before)
History:
Amaranth was created especially for a high ranking Sapphire, but he was rejected as his initial form was seen as "unsightly" by the gem in question. Ever since, he's been assigned to the patients in the Moonbase Medical-those with the worst injuries, or in the early stages of corruption-overseen by a Euclase and policed by an array of emotionally inclined gems and security personnel. He's highly distressed by the rebellion's effects on gemkind, and views the static-filled broadcast of Rose Quartz he's heard by accidental eavesdrop as utter lies, in denial of the true purpose of the kindergarten-even as evidence piles up otherwise.
He's never had an owner permanently, and has dealt with insulting and/or demanding gems eager to get back to their stations so long he's always caught off-guard when the staff and permeant patients are even a bit complimenting to his skills as a servant, never mind the kindly higher-ups passing through every so often, or that due to the absence of Euclase most days he's more of an assistant or nurse for all staff members and thus would be treated as something of a fellow by them. He's only Euclase's gem on paper, and is disconcerted by the treatment of him as an equal, or near that.
Character Arcs:
-Amaranth meets/comes in contact with humans or CGs over time, and slowly shifts to their side while still on the diamond controlled planets.
-Amaranth is forced to flee/escape from the medical bays for whatever reason, and must internalize the possibility that he's on the proverbial "dark side" all at once.
-Amaranth finally snaps, dissatisfied by the informal and kindly treatment of him, and demands that he is given orders and looked upon as "a true Pearl, am I failing, have I been wringing you, why won't you just take from me-!"
