Appearance: The clear Phenakite gem was split into two separate pieces which can be placed inside of the ear canal with the help of an added clipping mechanism (Gems without ears can still stick them to the side of their head). There is a small, safe-locked trigger built into the clip that one presses down when the item is in use.

If Sentient, Personality: (phenakite is not suppose to be conscious, but can sometimes interfere with transmissions in strange ways)
History: Ari found the need to create this artifact after she arrived at Earth. Using the Phenakite gem, she could coordinate with cause sympathizers to get her secret experimentation done. For the majority of that time, the piece remained with Ari, but one of her acquaintances ended up disappearing with one half of the ear piece sometime in the 15th century. She knows that gem lost the piece somewhere in Asia, from the last transmission she got.
Ability: Two-way telepathic communication can occur between those who wield the artifact. Both the sender and receiver must be wearing the artifact piece in order for it to work, and the sender must hold down a button in order to transmit surface thoughts to the receiver. The thoughts transmitted would sound as clear as if one were speaking directly to that person.
