The Conflicted Melōidia (Closed, Melody)

[Melody]

"Of course..." She muttered before standing up and making few steps back. All this time she couldn't stop starring at Euclase. Nobody before tried to rescue her so badly, Euclase was basically throwing herself at the beast just so Pearl could stay safe. It was unheard of, Pearls are accessories, not something worth dying for. It just didn't make sense. What she was doing just felt wrong, she was obviously risking too much. Melody continued to watch her while being worried sick. 

She turned to see the corruption again right after Amethyst mentioned it. But she could only do just that-watch, watch while other gems were trying to fight it off. At first it seemed that the beast didn't stand a chance. Pearl even believed that it was about to poof when it got electrocuted by the panel on the wall. How wrong she was, the gem was much stronger than she imagined. What worse was that the beast counter attacked Euclase by throwing the panel right at her. Melody gasped and wanted to ran up to her to support her, but she controlled herself. She didn't want to get into trouble again, that would only make everything harder for the rest of the group. 

Melody's eyes widened, she couldn't believe what Euclase was saying. She couldn't just leave her gemstone in here. She of course had to obey, it was an order,but it was somehow different this time. She didn't feel forced to obey this command, she had an option to make a different choice. Something inside her broke and she yelled out "I don't deserve this!" Even she was surprised of how loud she was at that moment. "I mean, you. You don't deserve this." She explained why gesturing at the beast "I can't just leave both of you to become shards."  

[Euclase]

"I don't deserve this!"

Euclase turned around surprised at Melodys outburst “Pearl” She began in an almost sympathetic and motherly tone, but she trailed off as Melody kept speaking.

“The Gem escaped because of my hubris” Euclase stated, as she turned around, switching back into combat mode “it’s my price to pay, not yours; you never should have had to be part of this.”

This gem was more durable then she thought, the fight was turning against them and the creature was advancing, nothing seemed to make much of a dent on the creature, the only thing it seemed to react to was…..The Current. A plan began formulating in her mind; it was a long shot, but perhaps. She had no choice, with Pearl refusing to leave, losing was not an option, she had to keep her safe.

“I’m ending this, NOW” Euclase Swiped her arm across her body, drawing out her small triangle drones, 5 then 10, then 20, finally 25. The legion of drones flayed out behind her in a larger array.

“Drive them back towards the walls” She commanded to Amethyst launching her Bola at the creature from her left hand following up with whipping her right arm forward, 10 of the drones launched past her, Several of which striking the wall behind the gem, detonating with small blue explosions around the wall, the wall panels once against faltering and twisting, There was several loud clangs as the explosions dislodged more of the panels to leave the exposed and damage wiring underneath. Now the complete wall behind the gem had its mechanical innards exposed, several points having twisted wiring that crackled dangerously. Euclase just managed to sidestep the flying Amethyst as she struck the wall behind Euclase.
Amethyst had not hesitated when given the order, summoning a second Warhammer she had launched the heavy weapon at the corrupted gem, winding the creature in the chest before she charged forward and wildly swung her hammer. The creature was slowly pushed back by the attacks; the Amethyst got several good hits in before the creature had struck her with the back of her hand. Sending her flying backwards.

“8XL!” Euclase cried out

She crashed against the wall letting out a “ow”, battered and bruised, but with the staple Quartz durability she managed to rip herself out of the dented wall and stepped forward again, charging once more at the creature. They were hardly making any ground, the creature
Euclase herself whipped her other arm around and the rest of her drones launching the ones she had left at the creature, striking all over the surface of the creature’s body they detonated like fireworks. The creature howled in anger, the attack doing little damage, but once again provided another distraction for Amethyst to get a hit off. The creature enraged struck out once again at the Amethyst, forcing her to dive to the floor before rolling away.

Euclase stepped forward once again; the creatures was so close to the wall, yet not close enough. Euclase mustering up her strength launched another bola at it, this time the creature shredded it in the air with its massive claw. Euclase tried summoning a second one, heavier this time, the bola managed to wrap around its chest, and the recovered Amethyst managed to get another hit in, both forces driving the creature back, it once again hit the wall, and let out a howl as the current went through it, but just like before it broke off it.

“Oh come oooonnnnnn” Amethyst stated exasperated, the creature lunged forward, digging its claws into the ground it tore up multiple floor tiles into one large piece of metal, once of these tiles happened to be the once Amethyst was standing on, she just managed to stumble back before the conglomerate of twisted floor struck her dead on. Thrown by the creature itself the force was hard enough to launch Amethyst and the metal across the room, she ended up buried in debris, the floor panel trapping her against the wall, Dazed for a few minutes.

Euclase herself charged forward, with Amethyst out of the picture there was nothing stopping the creature from advancing, her thought process had happened in a split second, she knew this one their only chance. The creature was low to the ground now from tearing up the floor. Taking the opportunity Euclase herself launched upwards, getting onto the creatures back she immediately summoned began pulling another bola out of her gem, this one was longer though and in one quick action she swung the rope of the bola around the creatures neck, It wrapped around once before she grabbed the weight to stop it from swinging, Wrapping the Rope around her hands she now had an impromptu halter around the neck of the creature. Putting most of her weight into it she pulled backwards, the creature let out a choked roar as it went back up onto its hind legs. Trying to reach Euclase with its hands to no avail, all the time Euclase kept pulling the rope until finally the creature took that final step. The electrical current laced through the creature as its back made contact with the wall. This time though Euclase kept pull the rope, forcing the creature to stay on the wall. The creature and Euclase were enveloped in an electrical discharge. Euclase gritted her teeth as she felt the voltages striking through her form. She let out a strained and pained cry that was overshadowed by the creatures Roar as its form finally destabilized in a large puff of smoke, she could feel her own form breaking apart as she fell for a moment. She felt the force of her body making contact with the floor, laying there for a split second in the cloud, and then, there was darkness.

With a Loud crash Amethyst managed to force of the panel as step forward, hearing the roars she was ready to still fight and had a small expression of surprise when she saw the plume of smoke clearing.

As the Smoke Cleared there was two gemstones left on the ground, one of the Purple Iolite Gemstone, and Euclase’s own Gemstone near it.

[Melody]

"You don't understand." She mumbled quietly under her nose. She couldn't just tell her what she meant. It was so wrong, she should have stayed quiet. But she couldn't accept how Euclase was risking her own safety for her.  However, she was intrigued by the word 'hubris' that Euclase used. She wasn't sure what exactly did she mean by that, she was the one trying to save those beings. That is what she always thought.

Pearl looked straight at Euclase when she yelled. She sounded nearly intimidating, it wasn't like her comforting voice she usually used. Pearl watched as Euclase summoned her drones, similar to those she saw when they first met. She was confused when she saw how the small devices flew straight into the wall and exploded. It soon clicked in her gem what she was trying to do, when she saw the exposed wires. Euclase clearly wanted to electrocute it again, but the plan seemed risky.

She saw how the beast hurt the Amethyst. She wanted to help somehow, she had to, but she had no idea how. She only watched as the two were trying to fight. Luckly the Amethyst proved herself to be a strong gem that can take a few hits. At some point Pearl quickly fled to hid behind the wall so she would be away from danger. Euclase was already stressed enough. However, she stayed around and continued to watch. Her delicate hands were clinging to her chest out of fear and worry. 

Pearl quickly ran to help Amethyst when she got stuck under the rubble. She tried to get the heavy metal parts away from her. However, she stopped when she heard a terrible cry. She quickly turned to the source only to see a giant puff of smoke. It was over, the beast was defeated. She smiled, but it soon faded as she realized that she couldn't see her Euclase. 

Soon Amethyst freed herself, but Cream didn't even moved. Her eyes were focused on finding a  similar gem silhouette, but there was nothing to be seen. Soon she had a better Vision and she noticed something shiny on the ground. She approached it hesitantly, with each step she felt as if her form was getting heavier. When she was close she landed on her knees. Her fears became reality when she saw that those shiny objects were in fact gemstones. She carefully grabbed and placed the familiar blue gemstone on her palms. She sighed "I don't deserve it... I don't deserve you." Her words were quiet, nearly impossible to hear from where Amethyst was. Pearl examined the gemstone, she tried to find any possible cracks. It seemed alright, but the gemstone was rather warm due to the electricity.

She had no idea what to do, she just sit there. She was still shocked, she wasn't sure what to exactly think or feel. She just stared at the gem in her palm. It should have been her... as a Pearl she should have tried to protect her. But it was Euclase who protected her. Now she was gone, but perhaps Pearl could take care of what remained of her for the time being. She realy had no idea. Her actions belied everything she knew about her role in the society. Pearl looked distressed, lost.

Her eyes glanced at the other gem, the one responsible of this mess. The distressed, but calm glance turned into a glare. She tried to be kind towards it and in return it destroyed her-her savior. The gem in her hands saved her two times already and for what. A single tear landed on the blue gemstone "Let's get you out of this mess." She stood up and grabed the other gemstone. She still looked distressed, exhausted, but she tried to remain strong. Her gaze turned to Amethyst and  she slowly approached her. She then made a small bow "I am eternally grateful." Pearl's hand moved towards the soldier and revealed a single Iolite gem. Euclase was in her other hand, close to her chest. "I will take my Euclase to her office." She said while looking down.

[Order Of The Diamonds]

A slightly confused “Ohhh” escaped her mouth as she fell back into a more natural pose before she realised what the cloud meant. The gem was no more, she was ready to walk forward but Melody stepped forward first and seemed to make the same conclusion, big cloud, no Euclase, she was out of the picture.

“Huh, you don’t need thank me, im just doing what I was made to do” She stated, slightly surprised when Pearl thanked her and handed her the other gemstone, warm to the touch,the Amethyst Took the Iolite gem, drawing a bubble out and sealing it inside before teleporting it away, probably to rejoin the other sealed gems. Melody stated she was intending to return Euclase to her office, Amethyst was about to say something, there was probably some procedure or system in place, but one look at Melody and she realized she was in no condition to be grilled right now about the event, so she moved, letting Pearl walk.

“Hey listen its not-“ She cut herself off as her head turned, there were the sounds of several other footsteps as the yellow technician gem rounded the corner flanked by several Quartzs and a rather stern looking Topaz. The rather nervous technician looked around at the carnage before starting to move towards the closest gem, which just happened to be Melody.

“We heard a commotion, is the corrupted gem-“ She began while moving towards Pearl, Amethyst sweeped up infront of her, causing the gem to bump into her larger torso, deflecting the technician away from Pearl.
“Resealed with the rest of them” Amethyst cut in as the technician took a step back.
The technician seemed flustered for a moment at the answer, but continued forward with her question “Well then I am going to have to discuss with Euclase about-“
“Form compromised, undamaged gemstone but she will have to reform” She also cut in.
“wha-…..well them umm we still need to speak to everyone here including, her umm Pearl” The technician turned ready to call Pearl back but Amethyst placed her hand on the technician's shoulder
“She is returning Euclase to her office, I can answer any questions for now, I saw everything, leave her be for now, she has seen a lot today” Amethyst stated, drawing the gems away from Melody as she began her report and recount of the situation.

[Melody]

"And you did well... I need to go." Some gems couldn't even do what they were made for. This Amethyst was one of the reason why Melody's gemstone was still in one piece. It would be impolite to just ignore her efforts. But she had to go. She just wanted to leave this place and be alone for a while.

She started to walk away, but she stopped when Amethyst spoke out. They didn't have a chance to talk because of the gems that arrived. Of course, they appear when everything is over. Melody let out a look of surprise when the yellow gem approached her. She was going to clench her hands as a way to comfort herself, but she didn't want to do it while holding Euclase's gemstone. Pearl tried to think of some sort of explanation, but she was shielded by the Amethyst that saved her earlier.

A little bit dumbfounded by the sudden turn of the events, Melody watched how Amethyst tried to explain the whole situation on her own. The Quartz even said straight and to the point that Pearl should be left alone for now. Cream made a small bow before walking away from the group of the gems. Her speed was increasing the further she was from them. But before turning to a different corridor she took one last look at the Amethyst and noded to her. A simple "Thank you." escaped her mouth, but there was no chance she heard it.

The tall gem now had better luck in finding her way to the office. She even found Euclase's tablet that she was about to give her back before she was stopped by the corruption. Luckly it wasn't damaged and everything was still on it. She grabbed  the screen and after some time she finally found her destination. After opening the door she approached the desk and placed the tablet on it. In her other hand she was still holding the blue gem. She sighed with a melancholic look while starring at it. She placed it on Euclase's office chair, the most comfy part in the office she could find, and she herself sit on the floor. Her eyes continued to stare at agemstone. She had no idea how long she would have to wait for Euclase to reform, but she was willing to stay here and wait for her. How much would it actually take her? Few minutes? few hours? Maybe weeks... She needed over 13 days to regenerate the last time her form was destroyed. Pearl frowned at this memory. She had a reason to take so much. Surely Euclase would be much faster. That is what she thought and hoped for. She wanted to talk about what happened before the blue gem came in for the rescue with Amethyst. And she wanted to talk about it with her, not gems from yellow court, but her. Maybe this would give her more insight about a corruption she encountered. And maybe she would learn to understand Euclase's actions. 

(Gems probably don't use such terms as "minutes", "hours", "weeks", etc. but I had no idea what else could I use instead.)
