Radiant was sitting inside of his perfectly white office, finishing up some of the last holographic forms before him, which were being projected from a triangle set into his table. He had been waiting for this day for a long time. Though, not waiting so much as labouring towards it. A labour that consisted of going through paper-work and Euclase's suspicions for at least a cycle. He did not expect her to not show scepticism towards his intentions of course, and who knows, maybe she secretly threw in some extra bureaucratic wrenches his way. But that didn't matter. In the end, he knew that she couldn't deny him the authorisation to conduct experiments on that quite peculiar Csarite that was only recently taken into the lunar facility as half-guest and half-monster... and a whole study object that excited the curiosity of Radiant to the utmost.
The Csarite was administered only some few cycles ago into the moon facility. Radiant wasn't present when that happened, and neither would he have cared all that much even if he had been, but Euclase had informed him of her "condition" during the Csarite's interrogation. Indeed, with this "condition", she was without a doubt the most unique and special gem to have ever existed. A gem who grew up on planet earth, isolated from any gem society, be that rebel or Homeworld (except once), she somehow became a corrupted "hybrid", being able to switch from her "normal" to her bestial form, though only via "instinct". From how she behaved during the interrogation, Radiant had formulated the hypothesis that her transformation could be reliant on emotional triggers such as panic, distress or anger. To confirm his hypothesis was his goal now, and for that he needed an authorisation to use that Csarite as a test subject.
Radiant submitted the last document needed. After some time, a notification popped up informing him of his authorisation. He stood up and walked out of his office, navigating the hallways of the lunar medical facility, all the while thinking about how to exactly approach his subject. A notification would probably be delivered to her in some way, letting her know of Radiant's approach. For today, he would simply try to figure out this Csarite's psychology and emotional life before continuing with his more... interesting inquiries. It would require restraint. Theoretically, he had all the time in the world, and yet he couldn't shake off the idea that time was somehow pressing down on him. As if something might happen that would let that Csarite escape.
There was also something else that bothered him. When asked how she was corrupted, the Csarite recalled being kidnapped by other gems and made to go through various experiments, until... something happened. Now, someone could have argued that these were some radical rogues, having mistaken Csarite for a Homeworld gem. The Corruption would've then been either an intended rebel weapon or some rogue accident gone haywire. But shortly afterwards, Euclase secretely entrusted him and that one yellow-cream Pearl with how she had once found a cleanly wiped-out folder containing references to multiple deleted gem files. Files of gems assigned to earth, but not to any particular structure or post. As a member of the White Court, Radiant knew that not all the Diamonds commanded was carried out in plain sight. And in return, not even those carrying out the commands necessarily tell the full truth about how they carry them out, or how they achieve the results expected. It evoked his curiosity.
All of this evoked his curiosity. A somewhat uneasy curiosity. A curiosity about which he began to think, since a long time, whether or not to follow. This was all about the Corruption, and no matter whether or not his last intention was to mend or... use it, he had the duty, the desire, to gain full and complete knowledge of it... since that one day... when he changed...
But maybe this time, just this once, he shouldn't dig out something from the darkness unknown. Maybe some things shouldn't be known, not by most gems at least. Heh, isn't this why not everything is disclosed to everyone in the Empire already? Maybe some things are just irrelevant to know. Whether the Corruption came from... well... did it actually matter? Who or what made it didn't change it's composition, its substance, its brute facticity. And that's what mattered in the end. Didn't it? And why did that Csarite's story seem as if... he had heard it before in some form?
Radiant was snapped out of his day-thinking just as he was about to run straight into the door of that captured Csarite's room. He straightened himself out, ran through his plan one last time in his mind and spoke friendly and calmly into the intercom besides the door: "Hello? Csarite? It's me, White Beryl! Can I come in?"
