Basic:To put it simply, power is your skill. The higher your power the better your character is in fights.
Power is the ranking used within the roleplay, as stated above its the measurements of your characters skill in universe. The higher your rank the better your character is at combat. There are currently 8 ranks for you too progress through with your character. More may be added later.

Combat
Of course, the rank difference is only ever advantage and disadvantage, not a absolute decider of who will win.
Power is mostly used in combat, the way it works is simple. If your are a rank above another member you have a decent advantage against them in a fight, likewise if you are a rank below someone you are at a decent disadvantage.Think of it like the person with the higher rank has 65% chance of wining
If you are 2 ranks above them you have a big advantage against them, this means is very unlikely that the lower ranked member will win in this fight but there is still a margin there, think of it like the person with two ranks higher has a 73% chance of wining
If you are 3 or higher ranks than your opponent you have a outstanding advantage in the fight. This means you basically have a 85% chance of wining that fight, so its a very small chance you will lose.

How your Higher ranking manifests itself is also up to the user. Since we do not use rigid stats on the site (A reason why it is best to avoid relative stat boost powers), its more so left up to the users creativity and choice to decide how their 'advantage' shows through. As a Quartz perhaps your superior strength shows through as you managed to block a attack, as a Pearl perhaps your superior dexterity allows you to form a potent counterattack that is far more tricky for the other user to avoid, perhaps as a Agate though your superior tactical knowledge allows you to use your environment in such a way to turn it against your enemy. Of course your Gems role will factor into it, but don't let it be the only deciding factor, despite not having the strength of or role of a Quartz, no one would really say the show's Pearl or Bismuth are not potent fighters.
Ultimately though the name of the game is fun and engaging Roleplaying, this power system is only meant to just give random users who have not spoken to each other some vague idea of how their two gems would perhaps measure up fighting each other, but ultimately, communication and character development all come first, if you have discussed with a user and have both decided there could be a interesting character arc based on the far higher power gem losing the encounter, don't let the power difference get in the way of that. Provided you have discussed it and all users are in agreement, Character development or organization can always trump or override this power system.
