Agate paused for a moment, thinking over Zerul's questions, again questioning his odd inner dialogue. He began, "Well..." before pausing again. He could help but be reminded of his own experiences, and the friends who led him along a similar path. He took a deep breath, "I'll try and answer those as best as I can, but I'm going to have to be a little... vague... It's best you learn a lot of this stuff for yourself, trust me." With that said he sat up, "Where to begin... a gem is... well it's what you are. Your form right now, mine included, are both illusions of sorts." He turned around where he stood, showing off the gemstone on his back, "This, and that thing on your chest, are our cores. For all intents and purposes, that is well... you. These bodies are little more than... what's the term? 'Light projections' or something similar. But that..." He turned back around and pointed at Zerul's gem, "That is your very being. If that breaks, you cease to exist." There was another pause as he thought about what more to say, "As for where you came from and what not, it may be best for someone more experienced to tell you. Or for you to find out on your own..."
Agate twisted his back left and right, working out any perceived stiffness, "As for where you are, that's easy. You're in Beach City. Unless of course you mean the planet, which in that case this is Earth. Nice little ball of life, hmm?" He faced him again, "Much worse places to be, or at least so I've been told. Though uhm... there are a few places I'd avoid..." He thought for a moment before shaking his head clear, "But I wouldn't worry too much about that. As long as you're careful not to scare anyone here it's a nice place to stay."
He almost ended there, but he couldn't help but pick up on the hanging question, "If you don't mind me prying... I assume the people in town weren't giving you the best welcome, were they? Ya..." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, unsure how to really continue. Eventually he broke the relative silence again, "As a gem you are very, very different from them. And often those people, the humans, fear what is different. You'll learn soon enough though that they can be sweet things, just have to bridge the gap per say." He wracked his head for anything else he should tell him, unable to come up with anythings else. "Well enough me yapping, I have a question of my own. Do you..." He had trouble phrasing the question properly, "Do you see someone with you? I can't help but notice you talking to yourself..."
