Amber pondered over it for a bit, "Probably back on the ship, but everything's so old and so broken I don't think it would be much of use." She continued studying the device in her hand. "But, if you're wanting to check that out too I can show you the way." How many gems was she going to take there? Any and all, if it proves to help them. Homeworld must be worried.... "Maybe we can repair some of that stuff with this stuff. I'm not sure if any of this would be compatible, given the age differences and the materials. But hey! I'm no Peridot; advanced tinkering isn't really my strong suit." Amber then smiled at Bumble softly with a tilt of her head, "How long have you been at this?"
BB nodded once and stood up from her searching, mentally noting to continue it later if nothing was found on the Amber's ship. I'd like to know how a gem like her even got a ship "I'd like that. We should set out soon. After all, the sooner the better." the dark grey jasper responded curtly. She began to tread to the middle of the courtyard in order to wait for the Amber to lead her to the hypothetical ship. Her face twisted into one of slight impatience as she responded to the second question fired at her, Putting her weight on one leg as well as placing a hand on her hip. "And I'm not sure how long I've been looking. Why'd you want to know?"
"Just curious," Amber shrugged now with a bit of timidness. She followed Bumble out of the tent before leading the way herself. "Is there a Warp Pad close anywhere around here? It may be easier travel, unless you have any flight capabilities or prefer going on..." Amber tilted her head a back slightly, trying to recall a useless word from useless human memory. "Foot."
Useless human memory....
The small healing Gem sighed. She could remember very little of her actual past. Hopefully Bumble's patience would not run thin with her if this proves to be a complete waste of time. What if it was? Just be helpful, as helpful as you can, she thought to herself. Even if it's a waste, at least you were willing to lift a hand. But then again, wasn't that her purpose? She pondered a bit. Were Gems suppose to 'feel' useful, or were they just supposed to... do it? Frowning, she turned away.
¨Foot will be fine 7XH. Where is this ship of yours?¨ the dark jasper inquired, a bit impatient at the edges. The sun was far past high noon, and she would´ve rather began the trip a bit sooner. 5BB wondered if her platoon was even still looking for her after all this time. Would it even be worth it? Finding her, that is. She slightly shook her head to dismiss these thoughts, practically corroding her core these days. She made a harrumphing noise and looked back at the Amber. ¨Well? Have you remembered where you left this ship of yours? We really should get going to it. Additionally, I don´t recall any nearby warps.¨ She went back into the tent.
"Yeah I remember," Amber replied with a bit of a frown. She summoned her wings, seeming to prefer flight over foot, but was sure to keep at a pace that would be alright for Bumble. "Again, I don't know how much it'll help, but at least it would be something." She began drifting off in the direction of her ship -or, her captain's ship, really, a she was only part of the crew, but neither her captain nor her team seem to be around anywhere. Was it okay and fair to call it her ship, then, if the owner abandoned it originally? Frowning with a slight sigh, she continued onward. "It may take a while, but it shouldn't be too far."
It took quite some wandering, but to behold the sight of the crash now was just as it was beforehand for Amber. The area around was quite beautiful: flowing green grass, vividly blooming exotic flowers, full leafy forests (though these forests were beginning to turn brighter with neon yellows and burnt oranges, greens to reds), and a variety of organic life roaming about (including that of bees. Plenty of bees). For those who appreciated Earth, it was nothing but the world to them; for those who didn't? Suppose it was just nothing more than imagery.
Up ahead was the crashed ship. Amber raced to the site, folded her wings to where they could disappear in flittering light particles, and stood right outside of the entrance. "Here we are." The structure was very old -old Gem tech, old ship models- and the crash that it had experienced was quite a bad one -enough to have sent Amber hibernating in her gem for a thousand-and-some odd years. She smiled apologetically to Bumble.
The trip had taken quite awhile, and after several days of what had seemed like pointless wandering, they had found a crashed behemoth of a ship. It was splayed in the large valley, it's legs were touching the sides of the valley, making the ship appear spider-like. She could hear buzzing nearby and spotted some nearby bees. One rested on her finger, and the opportunity was taken to examine the small insect. It looked at her curiously before flying off. Her gaze returned to the ship, preceding her descent of the hill towards where the amber now was. "Here we are" she told the larger gem, smiling apologetically afterwards. 5BB merely noted the handpad near the ship's entrance. "I'd assume you know how to open it, so I'll let you do the honors."
Amber nodded and opened the door to the ship. It whirred a bit, hummed, before hissing and sliding its doors open. The inside was a bit of a mess; what can you expect, though, when it was a literal shipwreck? The foyer gave way though to several different passages, one of which led to the communications and control room. Amber led the bumblebee jasper down that way, sweeping her own gaze over the passage. Soon they were in a large room full of various devices. Some were obviously broken, others needed to be checked to determine its status and function, but they were all there in some way, shape, or form. Amber sighed in relief. "Well, here we go! Hopefully there' something here that can help you. And if there's nothing here as a whole that can, maybe we can scavenge for some parts and repair some using the devices back at the settlement or vice versa. Whaddya say?" Amber tried offering Bumble a smile. "Anything... in particular interest?"
The jasper padded down the long hallway, dim lights shining from the snakelike lamps of pure energy above. Some parts were nigh extinguished, with the gem's worries rising that they wouldn't find anything here. Her expression remained neutral, however, as she stepped into the room, a slight grimace graced her face. A long spider-like crack ran across the windshield and right through the main directional controls. Amber's voice faded out, devoured by her worry as she rushed over to the main controls. The top section seemed to be almost useless, but a bit salvageable. Her eyes drifted to the communications system, which looked to be in surprisingly good condition, despite the vines growing through some of the cracks in the surface. "Alright, the communications seem to be fine. Though, I doubt this ship could fly anywhere, we may be able to find a use for this." Her large hand patted the surface of the dashboard. 5BB's face pulled itself into an expression of surprise and shock as the small edge she had been leaning on crumbled, leaving spiderweb cracks across the main dashboard and part of the communications. She sat dumbfounded on the ground, hands covering her face in embarassment. Her sigh glowed with "We may be taking off more than we can chew." She rose to her feet and began to survey for any extensive damage.
"Well, it's a start," Amber frowned, though winced as she witnessed the damage done to the control panels. The ship wasn't her home by far, but it was the last thing she had known before anything else. She tried to not think about that too much in this exact moment. "So, I guess just... list what we need and we can start scavenging. I doubt this place would be able to make sound communication channels. Honestly doesn't have the zest it use to, ammirite?" She tried to play the last sentence off with a teasing/joking tone, though was quick to dismiss it. "So let's just start off with little nibbles. Who says he need to chew?"
She glanced around her for some sort of container or tool-kit. Obviously, she wasn't a Peridot or any other skillyfully-advanced-in-science Gem, but she knew the basics of some tools and if something needed unscrewed or cut then she could at least do that. She found a box that tools use to be kept in, though very few tools could be found. She gathered the ones she COULD find then brought the box back to Bumble. "We can place the parts in here. Unless you know that weird bubble trick; I can't do that." The bubble trick was very feint in her memory, but she knew it was something they could do.
Bumble set the small box aside and nodded before leaving the room to scavenge some more parts to repair the communication systems. She entered a hexagonal room full of boxes and the like. One by one, she carried the boxes back to the main room she had came from. Soon enough, the room´s walls were covered in boxes.
¨Alright. I think that´s enough for now. Start looking through these to find anything that even remotely looks like it would be able to fix these" she gently patted the broken controls, careful not to break them again. ¨Then we can find a peridot to fix it for us.¨ She jumped towards a tower of boxes, leaving a small cloud of dust in her wake. She grabbed a box off the top of a pile, and upon reaching the ground, began to rifle through it.
Amber nodded and started looking in one of the boxes. There were a lot of spare parts for various things, she didn't really know where to begin. She looked at the control and the head communication control panel. She got up and went to expect it, careful as to not damage it some more. She wasn't a peridot, wasn't a scientist of any sort, but as long as you had eyes you can see what is damaged, right? She tried looking beneath the communication panel and inside it. Some wires were broken, some tubes out of commission, and everything appeared to be a total scrap at first. But she tried memorizing -not the names, for she didn't know the names- the shape and the look of the damaged tech so she would know what to look for.
She stood up then, stretching, before reappearing at her box. "This may take a while," she smiled softly. "But I bet it's totally gonna be worth it! Just think... maybe if we can get this ole thing to work, we can finally either go home or continue our missions! It'll be exciting, finally getting this show on the road!" Of course, Amber wasn't all too sure of what exactly happened over the course of time; she didn't know about the Crystal Gems yet, didn't know what exactly is going on, but she will learn some time later. She was mostly worried for her sake as well as everyone else'; worried also about being of use to someone somehow.
As she continued to go through the box, Bumble sighed a bit and turned to the other gem in the room. "Honestly, my mission is just to get back to Homeworld, probably like a lot of other gems on this ruddy planet." she huffed and turned back to her box. "Back on Homeworld, who were your superiors? Just wondering, because if we fix this, and contact the moon base, it may have a positive outcome." Her hands worked quickly, discerning what was useful from what wasn't. Given that this was a larger box, it was definately taking longer. "When do you suppose we should find a qualified technician? It's bound to take us much longer to fix it without one.
"I belong to Pink Diamond's division," Amber admitted. She continued sorting and looking for the needed parts. "And who knows? I met a Parapadscha a little while after waking up one day. I... have no idea where she is now, but she seems to know her way with technology. Um...." Amber tried to think. Was there any other Gem she met who could operate and repair such machines? She frowned and sighed, "I... I don't know. To be honest I haven't found too many other Gems yet. I'm still kind of... new in a way. So I've been wandering, trying to find my crew -oh my stars, if I could find them, this could really help! But... they're still lost. Somewhere. On this mass of rock." Amber shook her head, "What about you? What was your division? Your officers?"
Bumble sat back from working and attempted to recall her working information from her days as the newbie in her platoon as she examined a particular piece of machinery. "Well, I'm in a division of Yellow Diamond's, evidently, and my main officer was a Jasper of my type. Older than myself, and much more battle worn. She was pretty strict, and took our job extremely seriously. Not that I didn't, of course." the jasper reassured "She just took most matters like they were a life or death situation. Scared younger me a bit, probably." Her eyes drifted away from her work as she began to look at the sunset, which was only just beginning, the sky below it being tinged with orange.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. *The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
