Amber was quick to be short of breath. Was Morion for real? Wait... Obsidian knew too?! Amber's eyes went wide with surprise and and feeling. Pink Diamond? Pink Diamond is coming?! Tears pricked her eyes. She believed Pink Diamond was the only one who had believed in her. Pink Diamond was the one that gave her this mission, despite all of her failures from before. What failures? Amber couldn't exactly remember, but she knew she failed and that was that. She had to turn away for a moment, hide her face. Could she finally redeem herself? Could she finally be more than just.. nothing? More than a just a crummy little pebble? She clenched her fists in frustration, then wiped her eyes and tried to calm herself down before turning back to Morion and Obsidian.
"Sorry. But that's great! Things can finally be on their first steps in being settled!" Her voice was slightly cracked. She tilted her head at Obsidian, "Um... sure! I never been on an Earth mission before; save for my original mission, but that's...." She let that trail off. Finishing it was unnecessary. "But what about the Corrupted Gems?" she gestured back to the glass city's spire.
The Smoky Quartz watched Amber Then looked to Obsidian with a sigh It seemed communication was not one of her strong features... Amber was clearly upset But it wasn't his business Turned back to Amber
"Things...? Whats happened Amber? What things are need to be settled?"
The Assassin was a bit curious
"The Mexican mission? Nothing, really. Obsidian volunteered to help my Humans, protect them on their way to and back from Mexico to Empire City. That area is very dangerous! The "native" Human cartels are not yet fully under my control... tho' we are working on it. There is a fragile non-agression pact with the mexican bands and my criminal empire... but there are always rouge elements. Not to mention the Corrupted Monsters... a Gem or two accompanying them on their "trip" is an extra safety measure."
"What about the Corrupted Gems?"
He looked back to the glass city's spire too
"We can't protect this city... we could clear it out... but eventually the monsters will be back. Just a waste of time. Tho'... If you want to move here, make it your Domain, like I did with Empire City and Lady Chyrsocolla. The Lady of the Lunar Sea Spire did with the Lunar Sea Spire....
Morion was open to the possibility to establish another Loyal stronghold^^
Obsidian looked at Amber sadly. She felt like if she kept fighting the corrupted gems one day maybe they would be able to be cured. Deep inside however, she felt like she would never accomplish that. Obsidian felt like Amber had false hope in the corrupted gems, but she wasn't willing to let that hope die. As long as she was on earth, she would help Amber at least try to help them.
"So Amber, what do you say? Want to take a trip to Mexico?" Obsidian said. She smirked. "Something tells me you've been there before."
Obsidian looked around sadly. The city, like the corrupted gems, was beyond hope.
"Hey Amber, maybe the best way to protect this place is for you to move in here? I'd be happy to help! Well... after the mission of course"
"I mean..." Amber shrugged. "Just... this entire ordeal! Corrupted Gems, Gems unable to even get into contact with Homeworld, lack of transportation!" Amber looked deeply concerned. "This has to be dealt with! And... I have faith in my Diamond." Why not? The Diamonds were pure -perfect beyond all measure! And her Diamond was so kind, so compassionate, wise, thoughtful, motherly! Or, that's how Amber saw her at least. She had to have seen SOME worth in this little Gem, or else she wouldn't have assigned her to the Prime Kindergarten! "Ohhh, this is great! She's coming, we have missions to do, and all of this will be settled!" She could hardly contain her excitement, could hardly contain her emotional state of mind nor being. She looked back behind her once again at the glass city that held all those corrupted Gems. She promised some of them that she would help; perhaps Pink Diamond -the ultimate healer!- could fix it all!
She rubbed her face, which was heated up from emotion. She finally paid attention to the topic at hand -the missions about going to Mexico and what not. "Yeah, I'll go if you want and need me to. I think I have been to uh... Mexico... before, or at least my dream projection has! Remember," she did a disco-finger dance move, "the mariachi band?" Amber then snickered and lightly shoved Obsidian in a joking matter, knowing that she was a fan of disco and the action could irritate her in some level. Ohhh, what fun it was to tease your friends!
Friends.... What a funny word.
"Oh and," she looked back at Morion. "Um... maybe we could use this place. It is pretty, after all, and I'm already using it as a holding place for Corrupted Gems. The city is small but there's more than enough structures to support multiple platoons." Her eyes seem to take a shine as she looked at Morion. "Plus the more holdings, the better! Right? Means we may have more ground than the uh... Crystal Gems?" The concept was new to her, but what she understood was this: Crystal Gems were the enemy. "Also, are you coming with us, too?"
"Yes... the situation is grim at the first glance"
And second And the third...
"We are working on it... yes, we are stranded on this Planet. But honestly I can't see why the Crystal Gems did this. Our Empire is multigalactial, the Homewrold is in another galaxy, we are a conqueror race with superior technology! The sabotage gave them a couple of years, but even a thousand years are nothing in the eyes of immortal shapeshifters, like us! The Diamonds will arrive! Eventually. This planet is a colony after all... always was and always will be! With precious resurces, not to mention Experiments...! And Yellow Diamond is as gracefull as a rockslide, when it comes to retribution. Legions of Rubie soldiers marching alongside the Quartz Knights, Gem-powered warmachines, canons and vehicles, Peridots behind them to fix everything if needed... disgusting, but strong and feral Fusions... with our fleet, our ships blackening the sky... the usual. The Diamond's wrath will scorch the Planet..."
Morion nodded "The question was never the "if", it was the "when"? A planet lost in anarchy? Monsters and Rebles... Personally I think, knowing Yellow Diamond's methods, her response would be to subject the planet to an orbital bombardment that will "glass" - that is, fuse the silica in the soil into glass - the planet and boil its oceans away. I would happly shatter for our Diamonds, so for me, or any Loyal Gems that wouldn't been a problem. But we are lucky! The Crytsal Gems are lucky! Instead Yellow Diamond and the Armada, Her Majesty's, Pink Diamond comes... and her piority is to try to save this wretched rock... and try to heal the Monsters.
The Smoky Quartz nodded
"Rose Quartz is a horrible villain! Only the Diamonds know how many "unborn" Gem died on that day when she and her ilk sabotaged the Kindergartens! How many innocent young Gem are still in the Erath's Crust, sleeping their never ening dreamless sleep... never to awake?"
He shook his head "And her plan was insane... even without the Diamonds the Loyals would never gave this planet to the Rebels! We would fight to the death and beyond!"
The Assassin looked the glass city
"The Monsters are Gems too... victims of the Crystal Gems. Like us. Maybe the healers can save them. But... we don't have any. You see, I think the first targets of the Crystal Gems were the builder/engineer Bismuths and the technician Peridots. So far I have only met one Peridot on Earth, a Yellow Peridot, an insane monster, one of Yellow Diamond's crazy Experiments... Actually it makes sense. If I were a Rebel, my first priority would be to kill the ones who could repair the damages my sabotages causes! I have to give them that one. It was a smart move!"
"So storing them is a possibility. Tho' we can always shatter them, to use their shards to make Shard-drones like in the old days! Or as power sources... But just immagine a Crystal Gem saboteur in there... " - he pointed to the spire - whos mission is to release them! Using our corrupted cousins as weapons against us! Not a bad idea, mind you... so I hope your "storage" is well secured! Anyhow... I agree with you! This city could be a nice Loyal stronghold, or an outpost. It just needs a Gem protector and a team to help the Protector. Two or three Gems. Or several loyal Humans..."
The Smoky Quartz nodded
"I would love to go with you to maxico... but there are several things that are need my attention
Obsidian was generally a patient gem. When she heard Amber's joke however, she simply stared, wide-eyed, trying not to show any sign of irritation. Now that she was also going to Mexico it would be a safer trip. At least maybe she wouldn't continue to make jokes about disco.
"Yeah Morion is really busy. He does a whole lot of missions, he also kind of owns a city. Empire city to be specific, He protects it from corrupted gems and that keeps him really busy." She nudged Amber. "Alright! Let's go to Mexico! We've got a job to do, after that we can go and help this place! Good luck on your next task Morion, We`ll see you in a few days!"
Amber listened to Morion's words carefully. As he spoke, an unsettling feeling crept into the pits of her stomach. Crystal Gems. They were responsible for so much! Why in the name of the stars would they do such a thing? To rebel against the Diamonds? She had to admit, they had to have had real guts to do such a thing. But why?! What purpose was there? Earth was nothing compared to Homeworld; these humans were even very narrow-minded into thinking that sentient life out there beyond this planet didn't exist -as if! They can't be THAT selfish, can they? What did the Crystal Gems aim to achieve by rebelling? It would've just delayed the process; nothing more. She closed her eyes and sighed, trying to let the feeling of disgust and anger slip away so she could focus.
She nodded, then, to Obsidian. "Right." She looked back at the Glass City. "Before we go, I don't want to leave this place completely unguarded." The gem on the base of the back of her neck began to glow. White mist swirled until a replica-figure of Amber stood before the three of them. The replica's eyes were hollow, blank, and white, and its overall complexion was very pale compared to the real Gem, but as it was when Amber was asleep for all those incredibly long years trapped underground in her ship, the replica was sentient enough to move and act accordingly. A clone of the mind. The projection also looked back at the glass city, then summoned its own weapon -a bow and arrow that was also exact to Amber's- and looked back at the real Gem with a nod. "She should be able to help. I have no idea how fickle and fragile she is in combat, but it's better than nothing."
Amber sighed and summoned her wings. She rubbed the back of her neck. Alright. Time to be useful. "Let's go to Mexico."
The Smoky Quartz silver eyes narrowed, as he watched the Obsidian She was... oddly "unmoved" by the Crytsal Gem's war crimes... or the whole rebellion for that matter Suspiciously one might say...^^ But then again, every Gem handled these horrible times in their own ways Maybe it was just some kind of "self deffense", to remain distanced, to protect her own soul and mind from the horrible, horrible truth, the Reality It was actually quite understandable... the Smoky Quartz gaze softened Then he turned to Amber
"Ahh... a clone of some sort! Very celever! I supose you "feel" its thoughts? See through its eyes? Sense its demise? It is hmm... intelligent enough to call you with a communicator, or warn you if something is wrong?"
But it was sufficient... at the moment
"Have fun in Mexico! I will wait your arrival in Empire City!"
Morion shapwshifted to smoke gray crow, then left the two Gem alone
Obsidian felt Morion's eyes on her. Did she say something? No...she said nothing. Amber and Morion seemed so concerned about the crystal gems. They might have had pasts with these gems. Suddenly, Obsidian felt like she was talking to gems completely different from her. Like a private in a room with two war generals, full of battle knowledge. In a way, she felt disrespectful, but then again, she had never met a crystal gem. She would definitely understand once she met them right? She hoped, she was afraid, she couldn't kill humans. She liked the earth the way it was, she liked human culture, she almost in the month she spent on earth, felt at home. Was she one of them inside? Was she... a potential traitor? The thought frightened her, she felt as if it was something she could not avoid, like trying to run from her own shadow. If she did become a crystal gem White Diamond and all of the gems would be her enemies, she would be alone... Realizing that Amber would most likely start staring if she kept thinking about it she decided to drop the thought.
Amber tilted her head quizzically at Obsidian. Her friend took a long time to respond; was something on her mind? She was tempted to reach out with aura reading ability but thought better of it; Obsidian's emotions were Obsidian's emotions. If she dared to speak them, then she spoke, and it was as simple as that. Though if it proved to be too cumbersome....
She waved it off. The topic at hand was serious-enough as it was. They were going on a mission! They needed the tension and the feeling of mystery in the air. If it was starting to be too suffocating then it's something she could fix easily, right? A joke here, a giggle there. The world isn't about fun-and-games; Amber respected that.
When Obsidian seemed to snap out of it, Amber smiled, "Great! Uh... lead the way, I guess." She then turned her smile towards Morion and waved, "I hope to see you sometime soon, Morion! It's... always nice to meet a new Gem." She turned, did her Diamond-salute, and giggled. "I'll see to this place as a Homeworld compound as it should have been as soon as possible after the mission! You can count on me!"
Melody: as usual, just waiting for posts

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
