Name: Morion - Facet-7F2R Cut-8YQ
Appeared Gender: Male
Appeared Age: around 20
Gemstone: Morion (it is a black kind of Smoky Quartz)
Gemstone Location: In the middle of his chest/armor
Corrupted: Not.... yet (but his mind is fregile.. so who knows)
Appearance:
Tall (6'8; as a quartz he is a tall Gem like Rose or Jasper, but not that robust, more of a lean type) and agile warrior, with long grey hair; when not alone, Morion hides most of his face behind a mask. His armor is black and grey leather at first glance, but in reality - like all of his Gem "cloths" it is part of his body. It is his body. But when he is alone, he likes to be half naked, just in pants.. or without it, but since Gems are genderless its not a big deal.
Personality: Morion is a cold Gem, considering his "job" to hunt down and punish Gems - technically he is an Assassin in Blue Diamond's court - this is kind of understandable. Its hard to open to someone, who may be your next victim. But deep inside, he hates itself for it. He loves the silence of the night, the tranquillity of cold space, the loneliness... but envious of the friendship and love of others. Deep inside Morion is wants to be loved, wants to be with friends, though...
Then the reality comes, and he face it every time, they will never accept him. He is an eagle between sprows.
The Gems are not a friendly race.
Between two works - e.g. hunt down those whom Blue Diamond verdicts as guilty and bring back them to her, or crush their gem - Morion spent most of his time alone, watching others from the shadows and smoke, or enjoy the music. He is familiar with the harpsichord and the guitar and can play on them quite well
Likes/Dislikes:
Likes: Music, the ocean (and the sharks), the space. The night. Cats.
Dislike: sometimes his job. Humans. Fusion.
Fears:
Mirrors (Morion have an unique relationship with the smoke and darkness, and becouse of it, have an irrational fear of mirrors and his reflection in them. They remind him, his body is not "real", just hard light, illusion, and he is just a stone with sentience. This fear is so deep, he sometime escapes back in his gem to hide from a mirror, ironically reinforcing his fear by dissolving his own body)
Fusion (from his fear of Mirrors, Morion developed a fear of the fusion, - not the Fused gems, just the thought of fusing with someone - he dislikes the thought of fusing; his fear "not being real" mixed with the thought of losing his self, mixing his being with someone else is quite terrifying for him
Weapon: Scimitar
Ability 1: Smoke - as a Smoky Quartz/Morion Morion can shorud himself in smoke, its a little area of effect, the smaller the space the better; he can move silently in his smoke cloud, reatreat/cover his escape (like an octoups with its ink) or ambush his prey
Ability 2: Smoke-blink - for a couple of moment, Morion can transform his body to smoke, to avoid inncoming attacks and reform itself, before gravity catch up and his gem drops to the ground. He can do it once or twice a day, but it is mentaly and phisically exhausting for him, and after the third, he must return in his gem to gather strength.
These Abilities are the roots of his fears
Fusions: None - maybe if he find someone who will be his real friend or love and can conquer his fear of fusion...
History:
Morion was formed on the Homworld more than fifteen thousand years ago. He was "born" into the soldier caste, a Quartz, bearing many of the traits of his Gem's species; but while Quartzes are commonly made to fit the role of an elite warriors, - "heavy" soldiers, bodyguards and escorts - making use of their tall stature, great strength, durability and all-round verssatility, Morion, a Smoky Quartz, carried a slightly altered set of attributes. While most quartz are tall, broad and touting an intimidating muscular build Smoky Quartzes are not; they are tall and lean, agile warriors, pefect for missions that require stealth and precision, not brute force or numbers (for that, there are the somewhat unimportant and highly expendable grunts, the Rubies). Simply put, a Smoky Quartz is as an arrow, precise and accurate, compared to the fierce blunt battering ram, that is the more common Quartz soldier.
Since Gems are formed fully developed, there was no childhood to speak of, he was sent to the "Academy" to learn the art of combat and tactics with other of his quartz-kind. From his class Blue Diamond personally selected the bests of the growth to be her Eyes (and ears), and if it need be....her Wrath. The rest of them? Become power sources deemed unfit to serve.
As her Eyes, their job was to see - watching others, spying and report back to her excelency. Upon reporting traitorous activities, blasphemous propagada...anything that which displeased Her and drew forth Her deepes ire, they become her Wrath, sent to deal with the problem.
Sometimes a situation required discretion - capturing the target and bring back to her court, and sometimes her verdict was clear as a diamonds light: shatter the Gem in question, or kill the being who become the target of Blue Diamond's wrath.
So Morion was trained further to the art of the spying and assassination.
Then the time has come, that most of the young Smoky Quratzes dread: the First Mission.
Morion's first task was to infiltrate an alien species' capital to watch and learn. Report. And then the order came: exterminate the threat that the leader of the planet's deffense force represents; a tall, jackal-like women who was watching the Gem Empire with suspicious eyes and always talked to her ruler about the coming invasion and warned him not to trust the Gems and don't accept their "gifts"!
The hunt was exicting and terrifing, but in the end, she was cornered in a cave. From the smoke and darkness Morion stalked her, while the girl taunted him constantly: "You are just a rock! You are not a real person, just a tool, made to serve! You were made, not born, never known love or caring, just traning! You know nothing of the living beeings, real life. You are exist, but not alive! You are just a shiny piece of rock, that the rest of the world wears as a jewelry!"
Her taunts was scilenced, when his sword went throuh her back, and the Jackal-women colapsed in the ground droped his sword.
But even in her dying berath she was cursing him, whispering: "You are not real, just a silly, shiny rock..."
Morion was silent, watching her dying, watching his reflection in the blade of her droped sword, in the jewels she wore... in her eyes. In those eyes... The mirrorr of a soul. And saw nothing.
Just himself.
An energy pojection, solid light generated by his Gem. His armor, his black robes, his weapon, everything... wasn't real.
In that moment, he puff-ed, escaped back to his Gem from the cold reality. From the echoing sound, taunts of that cursed women.
It was so traumatic, it took him several months to reform; nobody found the body nor his Gem. The mission was a success.
Her majesty was pleased.
Then new assigments came, new missions... to kill or capture Gems; be smoke and shadow, nothing real just a threat, a nightmare (from which some never woke), or the black shrouded figure standing in the dark that can anybody see and KNOW, that is a Smoky Quartz, that is a Morion, one of Blue Diamond's elite Gems. Be a good Gem or you have to answer to one of them... or never to be heard again... or in extreme cases, your shards will put in public display, or your Gem in a machine to serve as a power source for an eternity.
But that first mission was a crack. Not on his Gem, but on his mind. As a Gem he could not and would not understand what happened to him. Gems don’t really have psychiatrist; they are superior beings, and the illnesses of the biological lifeforms are beneath them. Of curse, Morion realized there is something with him. Not wrong, per see, just there is something. But with each mission, his fears become worst and worst. The words of his first victim haunted him. His abilites was the root of all this; become smoke for a moment, or "giving up himself", and shapeshift to a cat, that silently walks in the shadows, a crow that watches on a branch, from the shade of the leaves, an owl, flying in the darkness of the night, a weasel, quick and sneaky, a wolf, runing, hunting on four silent paws, a shark, quite and deadly in the deepest, darkest parts of the deapths or a snake to slither without a noise... become someone else, impersonating a Gem ambassador’s staff member, or infiltrate another species world, be them giant sentinent robots or little grey humanoids... all of this fed his fears to a point, when mirrorrs become unbearable to him. The bigger the mirrorr the harder to see it. A little shard or hand mirrorr isn’t so bad, uncomfortable, but bearable; a larger, like a normal mirror size of a painting or window is another matter, they can scare him away, while the really big ones, the whole body mirrors could sent him back to his Gem, escaping reality, reather than see himself in them.
Still, he doesn’t consider it insanity or „a problem with him”. He has been on a thosuand worlds, heard tens of thousands legends and stories, and every mithology had it monsters. Monsters with weakness. Be it a vampire, that can’t cross running water, the Grokla’s fear of the kwaka tree’s flower, or a werewolf ’s silver inntolerance, they all have some weak spot. Deep inside he knew he is a monster...
And knew, he isn’t perfect; only the Diamonds are perfect beings, so having a weakness was actually totally understandable to him. Uncomfortable, yes, but nothing „wrong”. And at least he was aware of it...
So he continued to be an Assassin (and spy) in Blue Diamond's court. Silent and efficient predator. Loyal to his Diamond. As a Quartz he was a good soldier.
But every now and then, even the bests have doubts. It was a just verdict? Maybe this or that Gem doesn't deserved this severe punishment...but he never questioned his Diamond order's.
He was sent to Earth – an unremarkable colony with primitive unimportant humanoids in another Galaxy - with a spying mission, to watch and alert Blue Diamond's "inquisition' about anything suspicious or rebellious Gems.
When the warps and communication Hub were mysteriously damaged, a similar thing also happened to the Kindergarten, the chaos that followed was unbearable to him, the whole situation was unbelivable! This kind of things should’t happen!
And worst, it was his and his colleagues’ job to prevent them happening! He felt himself partially responsible.
This was too much for him (and to be honest, was almost a second crack on his mind ) he paniced, mentally colapsed under the weight of the whole situation and fled to the night.
It took him several weeks to recover, to gether himself, and go back to face his Diamond’s... dissapointment.
But there was no retribution... yet.
So there is hope to set things right! Avoid the punishment...
Morion quickly realised he is trapped on Earth... but have faith in his Diamond, some day a ship will arrive. Untill then he is continuing his mission...
Watching... and seeking out others of the Court.
He is a lone wolf, but know the value of teamwork, and these are desperate times.
Their lives depends on it!
If they can’t solve the problems untill Blue Diamond’s ship arrives, restore order and set things right...
...Morion know terribly well, what will be their fate.
