Name: Brimstone (Sulfur Facet-7D7R Cut-5SA XK)
Appeared Gender: Female
Appeared Age: Approximately 25
Gemstone: An asymmetrical, diamond-shaped, cut and polished sulfur crystal
Gemstone Location: Chest, top of sternum
Faction: NA (Open to recruitment)
Corrupted: No (Open to infection)
(If Corrupted) Monster Form: NA (To be written if infected)
Appearance:
In human standards, Brimstone possesses a irrefutably - perhaps even exaggerated - female form. Her physique is muscular yet curvaceous, with a full rump and generous endowments. Broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and wide hips further accentuate her feminine gender. Her facial features are soft: plush lips, button nose, and almond-shaped heavy-lashed eyes. Depending on how observational skills of those around her, she sometimes can pass as human with her pale, almost sickly, yellow skin and golden hair. Her hair is long enough to lap at the back of her knees when free, and is dense, fleecy, and unkempt. The irises of her eyes are the same watery yellow-green as her gem and emit a gentle glow. Her eye lids and bottom lip are a dark iridescent green, mimicking eye-shadow and lipstick respectively.
Brimstone’s natural form is clad, in her own words, in “hunter’s garb.” She wears a strapless tunic made of a material that mimics animal hide, and her waist is girded by a thick belt. The belt bears a metal plate imprinted with her personal insignia, as well as the diamond mark of her matron - Yellow Diamond. She wears matching hide gloves and boots over a thinner set of form-fitting gloves and stockings. All the hide garments are adorned with crisscrossing cords and a fur trim. A metal band loosely hangs around her neck - musically clattering against her gem when she moves.
Although she speaks loudly and with authority, her voice is a low-pitched, airy rasp. She often gesticulates with her hands, or even the whole of her body, when she speaks and emotes strongly with her face; often communicating just as passionately through body language as she does with words. Despite the expressive range of her face, her eyes are ever lit with a cold, predatory light - apathetic, keen, and calculating. When aggravated or startled, she is known to hiss like a feline to display her many sharp teeth.
She stands roughly 5 feet and 3 inches tall (1.6 meters), and weighs approximately 255 pounds (115 kilograms) - significantly more than a human of similar proportions.
Personality:
On the surface, Brimstone is a mischievous hedonist. Her day to day life is defined by a continuous quest for entertainment and distraction - both of which Earth has plenty to offer. While the manner in which she overindulges herself in the things she enjoys may seem greedy, or even vulgar, she is often generous with her time and resources. She delights in meeting new acquaintances and sharing her favorite pastimes with others, although she rarely seeks out company or feels lonesome. Good humored, she laughs freely at her own follies and tolerates even the harshest insults and criticisms with an easy smile. Headstrong yet humble, brash yet respectful: Brimstone possesses a nigh-unshakable confidence and peace of mind, which often manifests as a veneer of pleasant sociability.
At her core, however, Brimstone is a secretive misanthrope. She is distrustful of others, and prefers to distance herself from all she associates with. The warmth she expresses in speech or manner is often hallow, and this emptiness is betrayed by her cold eyes. An innate predatory inclination colors her perception of gems and non-gem lifeforms alike as base and trivial. Thus, she finds the plight of her fellow gems and the lowly creatures of alien worlds equally insignificant - unworthy of compassion or mercy. This view applies to herself as well, and she rarely - if ever - reaches out to others for sympathy. Her predatory nature also inflicts her with a bloodlust and moves her readily to violence.
Likes: Traveling, dangerous & ugly animals, cinema, sweets, and “the hunt.”
Dislikes: Crowds, talkative animals, aristocrats & court, space travel, and most everything…
Fears: Being trapped in a gem artifact and abused or forgotten.
Weapon:
The "Gem Snare," as she has lovely named her weapon, is a polearm that can shift between a bladed man catcher and a pronged glaive. While the Gem Snare’s primary form is of a man catcher, she prefers to use the glaive form in most combat situations. Only the head of the weapon transforms when shifting between forms - an instantaneous process in which the head glows and ‘shuts’ or ‘opens,’ respectively. In both forms, the blade of the Snare is made of a material akin to Brimstone’s gem and a crystalline piece resembling her personal insignia is embedded in the butt end of the staff.
As a man catcher, the Gem Snare has a rough hexagonal shape with the side opposing the staff open to create a jagged semi-circle like shape. Two long blades extend from either side of the open side of the hexagon - angled as if to funnel the target into the Snare proper. The outer edge is bladed, while in the inner edge bears several wicked spikes. The whole of the weapon’s design is asymmetrical yet robust.
As a glaive, the Gem Snare is a long, tapered blade with several jagged prongs on the edgeless reverse side. The blade has an abrupt upward curve midway along its length, giving it a scimitar-like appearance and similar slashing application. The base of the blade is lightly serrated and the reverse side’s prongs range from simple spikes to short blades to wicked hooks. Like the man catcher form, the glaive’s design is sturdy yet crude.
Ability 1:
“Battle Bubbles,” as Brimstone calls them.
Brimstone can conjure bubbles of energy that, when popped, erupt into a fiery explosion. She can create these bubbles in a variety of sizes ranging from the rough diameter of a golf ball to a bubble she can comfortably stand in. The maximum distance Brimstone can create a bubble is roughly 50 feet (15.25 meters) from her immediate position, and she can only conjure bubbles in space occupied by non-solid matter. Once created, the bubbles will hover in space until detonated. Brimstone has no power to move the hovering bubbles, pop them remotely at will, or 'despawn' them.
The strength of the explosion when a bubble is popped is proportional to its size: the smallest equating to common firecrackers, medium sized bubbles comparable to grenades, and the largest bubbles capable of throwing objects weighing a couple tons (average cars) and destroying standing structures in the immediate area. The exploding bubbles, both large and small, set flammable materials within the blast radius ablaze. Although magical, this blue fire does not have abnormal characteristics beyond color (i.e. the fire does not burn nonflammable materials, can be extinguished via typical methods, and puts out a typical amount of heat and light).
The amount of battle bubbles Brimstone can conjure at once is also proportional to the bubbles’ size. She can create a great many tiny bubbles, about a dozen medium bubbles, or one large bubble. While not all the simultaneous bubbles must the same size, she has a limit to the energy she can channel into this ability and must ration this energy between bubbles of different sizes (i.e. when mixing sizes, the more larger bubbles created the less smaller bubbles can also be created).
The bubbles, regardless of size, are designed to pop easily: physical forces as soft as a human punch, bolts of energy, or even a strong gust of wind will trigger an explosion. The explosion is a purely outward force, which does not directly harm any contents within the popped bubble, allowing for a very limited defensive application.
(Meta-Game Note: The largest bubbles have a one-post cooldown period.)
Ability 2:
“Paralytic Bolt.”
Brimstone can channel a bolt of energy through her weapon that, along with inflicting a terrible searing pain, renders the target incapable of movement, magic, and coherent thought. Since she can only focus this energy through the Gem Snare, her victim must be ensnared or impaled by the weapon to be vulnerable. Channeling a bolt taxes both her concentration and energy, opening her up to attack.
For as long as Brimstone has her opponent pinned and is actively channeling the bolt, the victim is completely disabled. Such an intense attack drains her energy quickly and she can only restrain an opponent in this manner for a moment or two. However, the bolt’s effects persist in the victim for a moderate period of time after being released from the stun. While suffering the effects of a paralytic bolt, gems are incapable of magic: their unique abilities are rendered inert, they cannot fuse, and they cannot conjure their weapon. Of course, a gem can use a weapon summoned prior to being struck by the bolt, as it only disrupts the ability to form a new weapon.
How long the victim is disabled depends on their resilience. Weak gems (i.e. those ill-suited for combat and/or inexperienced) suffer the bolt’s effects for a relatively long period, while gems with greater fortitude (i.e. those designed for and/or hardened by battle) can recover significantly quicker or even shake off the crippling effects entirely. Particularly weak or damaged gems may poof (or fusions split) upon being struck with a paralytic bolt, however, the attack is designed to be non-lethal in this regard. Most non-gem lifeforms are killed instantly by the surge of energy; those that survive typically suffer irreversible damage to central organ systems.
(Meta-Game Note: How long a gem is disabled is dependent on the power system, while all gems - regardless of power - can be stunned for one post. Gems within one power level of Brimstone (equal, one weaker, or one stronger) suffer the persistent effect for one post after the stun. Gems weaker than Brimstone by two or more power levels suffer the effect for two posts. Gems stronger than Brimstone by two or more power levels suffer no loss of magic, although they can still be stunned for one post. I will never force a poof on a player via a paralytic bolt.)

History:
Long before mankind first began to crawl across the face of the Earth, Brimstone was grown on a volcanic moon of a lifeless planet in an insignificant solar system on the far edge of the galactic arm. She was created under Yellow Diamond’s purview alongside a small number of other sulfur gems (25 in total). United by a sibling-like bond and a mutual design and purpose, the sulfurs formed a close-knit squadron which enjoyed a level of warm camaraderie uncommon in gemkind’s caste society.
The sulfur gems were grown for the singular purpose of capturing, containing, and handling dangerous test subjects for classified military weapons research. For many long millennia, Brimstone’s existence was defined by this purpose. Under the command of a mixed team of Blue Diamond scientists and Yellow Diamond commandants, she and her sisters hunted, caged, and subjugated a great variety of dangerous prey - and the sulfurs delighted in every second of their unsavory work. These years in which Brimstone hunted alongside her fellow sulfur gems are the happiest of her life.
In the hiatuses between research projects, the sulfur gems were never given mundane assignments or free to mingle with society at large. The sulfurs knew too many military secrets and were viewed as too “mentally and morally undisciplined” to be permitted to interact with the public unsupervised. Thus, the sulfurs were imprisoned and used to power technology during these hiatuses.
Early in her existence, Brimstone grew to resent gemkind as a whole when she realized she would never be allowed to live as freely as even the lowest castes. Several of her sisters also began to harbor a wrathful indignation not just against their immediate superiors, but also Yellow Diamond and Blue Diamond themselves. The sulfurs were not so foolishly bold as to outright rebel against their commanders, but rather preformed gradually greater acts of sabotage over the course of many thousands of years. Their actions slowed the development of several weapons that all but halted conquests of select planets and allowed a couple other small rebellions to gain a foothold, even if only for a brief glorious stint. Such minute acts of defiance where not enough to quell Brimstone and the most hateful of the sulfurs’ rage, however…
…The sulfurs' attack was explosive and brutal and completely unforeseen. The head scientist was shattered and two more of Blue Diamond's finest were mortally cracked before the furious sulfurs were beaten into submission. Yellow Diamond made a public example out of the sulfur who masterminded the small uprising, and all involved were unceremoniously executed. For unclear reasons that still haunt Brimstone, she and one other guilty sulfur were spared their comrades' fate. They were given an unspecified sentence and imprisoned in machinery - a light punishment, given the circumstances.
Brimstone came to earth on a first colony ship, in the form of a power node for a sophisticated piece of medical technology. For many long years after the ships were abandoned, her gem lay forgotten in the broken, decaying machine - the magic keeping the gem sealed to its prison growing weaker by the day...
