Next move, next move.... what WAS her next move going to be, time seemed to move strangely slow some times... often when one finds themselves airborne at terminal velocity, funny how that works some times isnt it? Fortunately for Carbide, that uncertainty only lasted a second as soon she had soared forward, fists outstretched and collided with the heavy metal brute with a shockwave that shook the leaves in the surrounding trees, and sent a tremor through her projection.
Clinging to Dolomite's front like a humanoid fridge magnet she makes a grab at the cables that helped support the oversized arm units, but it was tricky, whoever had been poking around under this thing's hood had made it a fair bit more agile, and its range of motion had improved as well. Soon she realized that she would be literally picked off it's front, so she lets go and drops into a low crouch that ends up in a low sweeping kick, seeking to sweep the metal hulk off it's feet. If she could get that thing off its gravity connnectors, she could have a fighting chance at finally taking that head piece of and seeing just who was making such a nusiance of themselves, and maybe even get some answers out of them to boot!
Acting out of an angry impulse rather than any real plan, Dolomite swung his hand out to deflect the incoming attacks as best he could. Thankfully his large gauntlets served as rather nice shields, but even so this assault was too numerous to defend fully. No more than two or three chains were deflected, though the blades were sure to cut through them for whatever good it would do him. The rest of the barrage struck him , doing little to damage the sturdy armor but managed to begin unbalancing him. The following kick caught him by surprised as he was trying to grasp for the Carbide stubbornly clinging for his cables, serving to knock him off balance and collide his own hand into himself as he made a failed grab for the nuisance. The blades bounced off his shell, leaving a moderate cut before he could react. The low sweeping kick from Carbide pushed it over the edge, he may have been durable but the constant attacks finally toppled him.
The mechanoid landed backwards with a loud thud, creating a rather notable impact as he fell on the pack behind him where all the cables originated. Upon impact he audibly screamed as if in pain, "GAH!" as his visor's glow began to grow brighter. Moving with a speed much faster than before he acted moments after impact, swinging himself sideways to get back on his feet while simultaneously swinging with one hand at the closest target, Carbide. Upon reaching a crouched position, briefly revealing the pack in all its form, he leaped forward in a roll to create some distance before spinning back around. The pack itself was uninspired and very similar to the previous model, a circular 'disk' of sorts that covered the area of the back between the shoulder blades. Notably multiple cables came out of it as before (all of which attached to various limbs), but both them and the pack had been shrunk down considerably.
Dolomite paused upon facing the gems again, his shoulders bobbing as he caught his unnecessary breath, the visor slowly dying down to its normal brightness. He straightened himself, aside from the damaged caused by himself he (and what looked to be a slight dent on his chest piece from Carbide's impact) looked unharmed, "I won't go down that easy... not this time." He lunged forward, returning to his previous (albeit still uncanny for his size) speed. His were fingers 'together' in a jab of sorts directed at Carbide, which he then followed up his charging momentum with a shoulder bash into Octi. The combo finished with him turning on his step with a sort of backhanded strike directed at hitting whatever pursuing gem(s) were behind him, leaving him facing them again.
Bloodstone winced as he was knocked back by Dolomite, the shoulder bash hitting him in the chest but he was still able to stay above his feet. Octi couldn't help but notice that the pack seemed to be a good link that would help the gem function well. Any chains that had been cut were withdrawn for the moment, needing to take some time to regenerate before he could use them again. Octi decided to use his lesser-known abilities and went invisible almost, going into the shadows and firing off a few spheres of pure shadow that would cover Dolomite's visor, temporarily blinding him. "Carbide, that stuff only lasts for a few seconds. I'd suggest attacking while you can!" Octi yelled from his hiding spot

"You dont gotta tell me twice sweet heart!"
Carbide leaps back up onto her feet, her gem core surging with a deep magmatic glow as she leaps back onto Dolomite's back and shape shifts to extend her arms forward and enlarge her grasp, enough to fit about her foe's forearms, then she braces her boots on the heavy metallic shoulder and pushes with her legs as hard as she can, while slowly 'winching' in the length of her arms at the same time.
She had noticed moments before that this creature's touch stumps had seemed to have been upgraded with some sort of fierce looking miniature circular-saw type blades in its fingers and grip, and if she could just pull back its hands far enough to get those whirring menaces into its own cables some what.....With an angry and determined growl she cuts loose with all the strength her projection can muster..It was time for Dolomite to learn to play Cat's Cradle with his own support cables!
A grinding sound rings through the forest, shaking the leaves with the din of fifty angle grinders begin wielded on re-bar all at once, but despite the noise and the shower of sparks, she couldn't quite tell just how much damage it was doing to its own hardware, since the full extent of its upgrade to materials and systems were still somewhat of a mystery to her!
He was feeling confident with his blows connecting, ready for another assault before something obscured his vision. He went to claw whatever it was off his visor, stopping just short as he realized the damage it would cause. Unfortunately for him, it was too late as Carbide had already made contact. Normally the arm wrestling contest they were having would have been in his favor had it not been for the fact he was already reaching for his face. He tried admirably to fight back, but even with his increased strength the leverage was against him, it was a losing battle. The blade began to bite in his mask, risking to unveil him completely, before he turned his face sharply away as he lost control of his hands.
The blades jerked up, catching on the reinforced cables, releasing an uncomfortable screech as the materials battled. Thankfully it was short lived as the unfathomably sharp blades sliced through the cables, continuing along its ark onto his shoulders. A shower of sparks poured forward, the blades finding the main armor to be a much tougher opponent than the main power cables. Realizing his suit could quickly become compromised he made a drastic decision. The cables attached to his legs were thankfully still intact, allowing his movement to be fairly unimpaired (unlike his arms which now moved much slower). He launched himself backwards, aiming to land roughly on his back. Hopefully Carbide would still be too entangled with his hands to be able to dodge, become crushed between a suit and a hard place. Not to mention the blades were still there, promising to majorly damage him on impact of course, but if Carbide had the misfortune to not move fast enough would feel their all too sharp edges in full force.
The landing left a noticeable dent in the ground, visible as Dolomite rolled backwards and jumped to his feet again. As the dust and sparks cleared it became apparent a large gouge had formed on the front of his mask, not cutting through the metal entirely but weakening it greatly, and his shoulder pads had major cuts in multiple spots. Initially he looked poised to strike, but seconds later he slumped to lean on his hands while he gasped for breath. His voice was ragged as if talking through some major pain, "I... won't stop just because... of one little... scratch." He stood up again, his form shaking under its own unsupported weight, "Not after what you did... after what I was told..." He raised his fists, a tone of grim resignation was just audible in his voice, "I don't have a choice..."
He launched forward at Octi, his upper body may have been hampered but his legs and reflexes were still razor sharp. His strikes were sluggish, yet still powerful from the weight alone. The blades were unable to move as much as before, only revving up shortly before making a swing. Each swing came as fast as he could muster, uncalculated and sloppy, fighting more like a cornered dog than the somewhat skilled fighter before.
Octavian couldn't help but smirk as he watched Carbide go at the walking tin can with easily one of the more stereotypical jokes in the book. The berserker did take note of what Dolomite was saying though "W-wait..told? Who told you stuff exactly?" Perhaps the person..gem...whatever had talked to Dolomite had also attached the metal to him...no gem should look like this. Octi stumbled back as he tried to dodge the strikes that were being thrown at him. A few were connecting but it was obvious the 2 on 1 assault was working to Carbide's advantage. "Even if you don't trust Carbide, I can help you. You...don't seem right. I think you've been lied to."

"Haha, bet you think that having your own rotary claws turned against you is a real... GRIND! Am I rite?! Huh? What--ohhh!!!!"
(The narrative portion of this post, should, for maximum effect, be read in one's mind with the soft voice of a British wildlife documentary narrator...) Regardless of what might have happened next, Gem Empire records did, in the millennia to follow, record that at this point, Carbide had in fact, landed the sickest burn that would be seen at any other time to follow in this fight, with an honorable mention in puns and general snarky sass. But back to the present when Carbide's amazingly sick burn was almost cut short by her startled shout as she feels the center of gravity for the creature and herself, perched upon its shoulders. As the weight came down, she found herself bracing with her arms rather fiercely, instead of pulling as she had been up until a minuet ago.. "Oh Sweet Diamonds.. this might not be my idea of gentle exfoliation.."
With that she landed on her back against the soft ground, but soon the extra weight lands upon her, pressed into the dirt her gem core ignites with a release of power through her body projection, giving it an almost iridescent sheen across her skin as the rotating blades make contact with her full face visor and bust guard, sending a shower of lavender sparks in all directions along the ground..
Fortunately, soon the machination has gathered some inertia in its now freed limbs and launches itself back up onto its feet, revealing a heavy scout with several deep patches of scorring and trench marks across her transparent armor that is breached in a few places, dorn up appearance modifiers and scuffed, and in some places, deeply abraded portions of her projection sputter and flicker, while under her equally scratched visor, her eyes go narrow and determined, and now rather miffed as she climbs from her own miniature crater and surveys her body and the situation with a soft grimace. Octy seemed to be holding up against the metal monster for now, but she needed to ring it's bell, but it was doubtlessly aware to listen to the sound of her weapon summoning or manifesting shells.. she needed something else that could pack a punch but quietly.. an then her gaze fell to the side of the clearing...
Back at the brawl an ominous dark shadow would appear centered against the back of Dolomite's head as a soft whoosh sound fills the air.."Hey you! I don't know what you think I did, but you're wrong, so maybe instead you should try examining your thoughts.. maybe even.. oh I dunno.. start a personal LOG to help you get your thoughts straight!!" As her loud holler tapered off, Dolomight might or might not turn its head in time to see the nearly 17 ft long chunk of fallen tree trunk, big around as a kitchen sink...get it.... LOG....cruising through the air like a torpedo or battering ram, thrown with all her might!
The few hits that connected gave Dolomite renewed hope for victory, pressing his attack his new vigor. He ignored Octo's heavily defensive position, "None of your business! Besides, you're one of her minions aren't you, I can't trust any of you!" He plunged his hand forward in a quick decisive jab, hoping to make a sudden damaging strike on his opponent. The sooner he could end this, the sooner he'd be that much closer to his objective. During this combat he realized Carbide was gathering herself and began to turn to address whatever attack she had coming. He had only just barely turned his head, "What are you on abou-" His sentence (and thoughts) were cut short as the sizable log connected directly into his face plate.
Rather comically his form almost went slow motion as his head flew upward along with his arms as his body went limp. He flew back a good few feet, creating a cloud of dust that obscured the are around him. The previously muffled and altered voice seemed to be replaced with a young sounding (albeit still anger filled) gem, "Ugh..." The dust settled and revealed the hulking mechanoid resting against a rock that he had impacted on, his face covered by a single gauntlet holding his all-too sore face. Moments later the hand lowered, revealing that the previously damaged face plate and visor had gave way under such a heavy blow. Beneath was unmistakably the supposedly missing Agate, though some features were entirely new. Namely all throughout his face and eyes were light-blue lines, almost like cracks or veins, that seemed to pulsate with a faint light every few seconds. As well his pupils were incredibly narrowed, barely little pinpoints on his otherwise white eyes.
He moved very slowly, standing with a notable slouch and resting heavily on his hands. On his face was an unmistakable look of anger and hatred, something never seen before from this little gem, "There... happy? Now you can see what he did to me... After you delivered 'your Agate' right to him." As he spoke his tone was full of hatred, and the odd streaks of light pulsated brighter, "After everything... you let him do this!" He gestured to the mechanical suit that covered his entire form, and even added to his size. He turned to Octavian, "But I guess you have new pawns in whatever game your playing..."
He spoke openly to the both of them, "I'll be back. I'm not alone, I'll be fixed. I'll be stronger." he looked Carbide dead in the eyes, "I'll have my revenge for this. She promised me I would." Not liking the idea of Carbide or Octavian spouting anymore lies he turned and dashed for the distant warp pad. His arms may have been damaged, but thankfully his enhanced legs carried him incredibly fast now that stealth was not a hindrance.
Octi's eyes widened in surprise at what was under the visor. He hadn't been expecting this at all but as Agate...he assumed it was Agate at least, started to make his way to the warp pad, the Bloodstone tried hitching a ride with his chains, slowing down him enough to catch up. "Hold it! Who the hell is she? Talk to me or I will gladly make you pay. I don't think you deserve this, but you need to calm down. You're being lied to. I know for sure I haven't, because I've been by myself for weeks. You can trust me....I promise." Octi sighed, not sure when to let go. He didn't want to risk anything now

Carbide slumped to her knees where she stod, watching with utter dumbstruck shock as the large augmented figure tore throuhg the undergrowth away from the clearing. Octy's voice shouting after him, hummin in her ears like a shout through a pillow, or as if in a dream. It didn't make any sense, not one bit, why would someone kidnap her friend and do... this .. to them??
A drop of something both warm and cool at the same time landed on her knuckles, and it was then that she blinked and realized that twin streams of inky black tears had been runnind down her cheeks and dripping off her face for the past several moments. Off in the distance a loud magical crime and another pillar of cyan light cutting through the sky as her friend warped out to ..Diamonds knows where.
She wanted to get up and to chase but.. she just couldnt bring her form to respond or mood, it was like being crushed underneath an entire continental plate's worth of saddness and utterly numb shock, that her mind was positively struggling to process it all.
Agate rushed as fast as he could, not daring to look back. He didn't fully realize it but he was... afraid? Afraid to look back and see the aftermath behind him. He couldn't explain it, pushing the thought deep down where it could be forgotten. She was the enemy, she helped the gem that did this. Didn't she...? He pushed on faster, pushing himself hard just to get away from that arena. He was ignorant of the gem hitching a ride for a while, too occupied in his thoughts too notice. He pulled on the chains in an attempt to dislodge him, but his clumsy unsupported hands failed to find the comparatively small chains. He ignored him, pressing on to the warp pad.
Upon reaching it he turned and finally addressed the gem riding along, "You're not one of her cronies, are you. No... perhaps not. If you really want to know, feel free to follow. But I'm getting as far away from her as I can before I rest. We can walk and talk, and once you know the truth I won't be the one you want to make pay." He waited only a short while for him to make a decision, prepared to warp in the event he had the idea to make a quick attack to finish him off. He didn't like the idea of waiting around, for fear of Carbide hunting him down to finish the job. Deep down he knew that wasn't happening. He knew what she was doing back there, but he refused to give the thought purchase in his mind. The whole story began to unravel otherwise... something he couldn't face right now.
Whether or not he was joined by Octavian he warped out, heading off to a distant warp pad far away from this island and began to make his way 'home'. Not to the pleasant hut he had known, but to the ship his ally-in-arms had used as a base of operations for a short while now (as far as he was aware). It was going to be a long journey in his state...
Octavian let go and sighed as he looked at Dolomite. "I'm afraid...for now, I cannot do that. But I assure you that at a future time, I will gladly talk to you. I live in a shack near Beach City, if you really trust me, then come by and find me. It's a safe, secluded area. I doubt we'd get any uninvited guests." Bloodstone gave a small friendly gesture before sprinting back to the battle scene. As soon as he saw Carbide, he ran up and slid onto the ground next to her, giving her a nice big hug "I am so, so sorry..." Octi wiped away the tears going down her face and sighed "I...I wish I could help. But I promise, I'm going to find a way to fix this. There....there HAS to be a way to fix this."

It took a moment or two for focus and motion to return enough jut to get her to move and coordinate the function of her limbs, she heard every word Octy had said to her, but didnt make a direct acknowledgment at first, drawing in a deep sniffle then clearing her throat and wiping off her face a bit more..
"So angry, so hurt.. no wonder I didnt't recornize any of the emotions that Agate was giving off as that .. thing.. Emotions like those were so far from his personality that I never for one second thought that the foe I believed had everything to do with whisking him away, was my friend the whole time. Whoever did that is going to wish they had been paved into a hand ship landing pad by the time I get through with them, thats a promise!"
Using Octy's shoulder for support she hoists herself back up onto her feet, her gaze swiveling downward, surveying the few areas where her armor and projection were broken through, with patches of glitched, flickering and popping projection on various parts of her chest and shoulders. It didnt feel nice, but it was far from the worst ride through the rock tumbler that she had endured.
"Should we stay and see if we can uncover whatever Agate was sent here to find? Theres got to be a reason he was stomping through the jungle.. someone sent him here, whoever wired him into that thing and screwed his head up with lies, maybe its got something to do with me ending up here, as well. I was expecting to warp back home to Beach City.. but I ended up here, upside down, flat on my head when I arrived.."
Octy sighed, wiping Carbide off the best they could to try to get them into better shape. "I promise you, I'll help you find who did this to Agate. He seems like a good gem." He tried to think for a sec as he shifted into Octavia, his alternate, more female/feminine projection form. "There's gotta be something nearby that Agate was looking for. I'll admit, I didn't plan on coming here either. I was just hopping on the warp pad that was near my house and then..poof, landed here!" Octy tried to look around for something obvious, see if there were any clues that had been left in the mech's path of destruction from earlier "Hm..did you see anything earlier by chance that might show us where to go?"

Carbide rolls and rotates a somewhat sore shoudler a second, assuring the integrity and mobility of her projection then nods. Her mind raced back to earlier that hour when she had discovered the large geode like formations.
"There IS something I saw earlier, shortly after I arrived, I was exploring higher up on the cliffs, and there were a whole outcropping of these great big.. geodes! I had never seen anything so big, fitting the geode description, let alone so many of them in one place at a time, and they felt.. funny. They arent sentient silicates like we are, but maybe there is something special about them. What do you say we go and take a look? It shouldn't be a hard hike, or even a long one."
It was a long shot for sure, but maybe they could collect a sample or... something. She pondered a moment then huffed as she realized that the only other gem potentially with the tech and man power at hand to properly examine one of the giant geodes was Morion, the Home World Infiltrator who had set up in Empire City..
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
