After his loss at the hands of Carbde, Dolomite retreated back to the ship he and Obsidian had been using as an headquarters of sorts. The journey was long and difficult, especially in his critical condition, but as with his last loss (something still seething in the back of his mind) he managed the trip. Repairs were rather simple thankfully, and much of the bulk of the suit was able to be taken off without any real loss of power. In fact, the loss of weight made his movements far more agile (if perhaps less of a powerhouse). And of course, some other minor improvements were able to be made. Namely, the previously vulnerable cables were now small enough to be able to be placed underneath the armor of the suit, much to his delight. He wasn't going to have anyone disable his systems so easily next time.
Yet, something still bothered him. For once he had his visor off, fiddling with it as best he could in his clumsy hands, examining it in thought. Now that he had time to himself those niggling doubts in the back of his mind began to resurface. Things were starting to not add up, and the reality of what it would mean if it was true was... unthinkable. He avoided confronting what it would mean if what he had been told wasn't all entirely true, if he wasn't the good guy in his story. He glanced up and searched for Obsidian, he had to air out his thoughts, "Obsidian?" He hadn't spoke with her too often, keeping to himself for most things as of late, but he found she was usually knocking around the ship somewhere.

Fortunately for Dolomite, Obsidian was near by him when he called her name "Yes Dolomite?" She replied, setting down her equipment on the table. Her job today was to repair the small damages that was made in the testing room due to a "accident" that involved with cooperating a gem in fusion. "What do you need?" She turned around and rested her hand on the table, looking at her creation normally.
"Is Something wrong with the repairs or something?" She looked as he fumbled around with his visor. To be honest, she was rather disappointed with the results of her creation, dolomite had failed in his missions more than once already when the tests and simulation she had done before where proved that most of his missions should've been a success.
Agate glanced up to Obsidian, "No, no the repairs are fine. It's just..." he hesitated, feeling as if he might not want to air out his thoughts. Though realizing it wouldn't stop bothering if he didn't say something he continued, "It's just that I'm starting to have... 'doubts'. It sounds ridiculous but, I'm not so certain things are as black and white as they first seemed." His eyes returned back to the visor, more than a little uncomfortable revealing such thoughts, especially when he wasn't certain of them himself. Honestly he wasn't sure about anything at this point, the whole world seemed to keep turning on its head over and over again. "I know what happened to me was... it..." he sighed, "O did it, I know that much. I mean, I saw it myself right? Of course I did but, something else doesn't seem right."
He set the visor aside and pressed on, edging on rambling at this point, "I'm starting to think maybe, just maybe, Carbide didn't know what she was doing, y'know? I just... after my last encounter with her and seeing her like... that it just doesn't make sense." he continued on without pausing for breath, "And I know I can remember her being the one to 'find' me, at least I think I do, but I'm thinking what if she didn't know what for? What if... I don't know, what if Mr. O lied to her as well? Maybe... maybe she thought she was doing something right. Maybe she didn't really have anything to do with this. I just..." his voice finally tapered off after all his half-coherent rambling. He felt... angry. Not just angry, tired. Tired with the whole situation, missing the quiet life he had before. It would be so much easier to just try and believe he still had friends, "...I want to believe..."

"I know how hard it is to lose people who you trusted so much.." She patted the small mechanical creature on the back, trying to comfort it in any possible way (if it still had any actual emotions left..). "But how can you doubt your own sight and memory? That sounds illogical and simply stupid." she turned her view to the counter-top " Trust me, i know what it feels like to be betrayed by someone you cared about.." She sighed, once again feigning the act of sadness.
"Now what you are saying to be is that you are forgiving to Carbide? Even though she dragged you her AFTER she attacked you in your hurt, which came by the orders of Opalite!" She continued " Have you forgotten all the pain he has delivered to you both psychically and emotionally... You are making me worry Dolomite.."
He just shook his head, "No... I know what happened I just... I wish I could go back to before any of this. Before I became this." He looked over his form once again, visibly disgusted. There was a long moment of silence as he debated in his head, could he forgive Carbide? They were friends after all, best friends he thought. But there was truth to what Obsidian said... he knew what she did. No innocent gem could do such a thing, especially to a friend. He let out a defeated sigh, "No... I suppose I can't. Not after everything. There's no going back from this." He picked up his visor and and idly flipped it around in his hands again, slumping back down. Though he had become curious, "Obsidian, who... who betrayed you?" He looked up at her, curious just how much he shared with this gem that he honestly knew very little about.

"A Heliotrope.." She vaguely said, not wanting to give any exact details of which Heliotrope she was referring to. "I made a accident, i wanted to prove to my Diamond that i can be useful but i messed everything up.. We were... close, so i expected for her to forgive me for what i have done but instead she tried to kill me. So i faked my death and here i am today." She (slightly) lifted herself on the counter-top, sitting on it as she tells her story.
"I know how you feel in a way, I also wish where i can go back in time and live in the moments where i had friends too.." Surprisingly, Obsidian wasn't playing any tricks while telling her story. Letting herself be immersed into her personal world of nostalgia, she quickly shook her head, preventing herself to "share" her past and emotions with the enemy. "It's natural but you get used to it."
He was silent for a while, processing the rather personal information. He didn't exactly know how to proceed, it seemed like forever since he talked with someone like this. Last time would been with... Carbide... He sighed, "I'm sorry they hurt you Obsidian, I'm sure you didn't deserve it. Gems like you deserve much better." He managed a sort of sad smile, "I have faith a gem as goodhearted as you will meet someone knew, make new friends. Things will get better, I'm sure of it. For you at least." He fell silent again, staring up at the ceiling with a sort of blank expression on his face.
He collected his thoughts for a while, thinking over his relatively short experience on Earth. Without turning his face back to Obsidian he spoke up again, thinking out loud more than anything, "You know, that's the great thing about our time here. I like to believe most gems out there are nice people, that they outnumber the bad ones that hurt us. All you have to do is press on and there'll be some new friend to help you up." He looked at Obsidian again, an actual smile on his face, "Thank you for being there for me when no one else has, you really are a good gem. I hope after all of this is over, you can find someone new to be close with." It was perhaps the first time he had smiled since becoming Dolomite. Despite not knowing too much about her, Agate really did appreciate that Obsidian took the time to help him with his quest for vengeance. Despite their varying success (more failure than not) she had been there to pick him up and fix him.

"Thanks.." she faintly smiled back at her creation "I sure hope things do get better for me in the future.." Obsidian sighed, remembering her recent events that ultimately led her in this situation. The monstrosity, exile, ambush, Mr. O, the beach party, the caves, Sugar, and everything else that happened after that. Her time here was hell and each minute she stays in earth is like an eternity for her.
"Thanks that means a lot to me.." she smiled back at him. Not really, I could care less for any piece of garbage that resides in this hellhole. If anything I can't wait to go back to Homeworld... where i am known planetwide! Obsidian wasted her time with repairing Dolomite cause she still believe that he can still be useful in some way..
A little while passed as Agate kept to his thoughts, also thinking over the events that led up to this mess. Suddenly he sat up and slid to his feet, "Right..." He placed his visor in place, "I'm heading out for a... personal mission. I have some things to do before I next fight Carbide. I'd hate to leave things unfinished..." He made his way to the doorway, hesitating for a moment before turning back towards Obsidian, "Like I said, I hope you do find whatever closure you're looking for. Even... even if I'm not around to help." Not wanting to elaborate further he began to rush down the hallways towards the exit, set to do whatever task he had in mind.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
