Lapis flew uneasily away from Blue Quartz' hideout. She found it difficult to concentrate on maintaining her wings. Her mind raced with images of the horrible, corrupted creatures created by Blue—ones that could hardly be considered Gems. She recognized that the more monster-like ones must have been things created by corruption, and the ones made by gem shards forced together must have been artificially made, but she couldn't be sure if the corrupted ones were created by Blue or not. And did the rebels really deserve it? What had they done to deserve such punishment? None of it was clear. She's terrified, she's disgusted—
She's... falling.
She snapped out of her thoughts to realize she had let the water enveloping her arms slip away, and in a moment later she fell into the ocean. She swam back up, steadied herself on the surface of the ocean, and took to the sky again. She realized she'd have to block these memories out, yet she was created to be able mentally retain everything with clarity. Her only solace was that she wasn't actually able to project those memories like she was supposed to. It's something she'd carry alone. And it was something she would just have to live with. She supposed she wouldn't be burdened with it all the time. Besides, by default she remembered just as well as anyone else. To recall specific memories was like taking a trip into a grand library of sensations and images located within the recess of her mind. And from this point on, those horrible memories of grotesque gem chimeras stood like gatekeepers that she would have to be careful to avoid if she were to ever recall... say... what the clouds looked like in the past week.
From this point on, she decided, She would try to never do a full recall of any event before this moment. Those times were behind her now. With that settled, she felt guilty about leaving Blue Quartz and Ice. Even if she didn't intend to stick around to see any more creatures, she figured it would be best to go back and make a better apology. She turned in the air and headed back to where the hideout was located.
