Dragging her companion by the arm, cheerful little Jasper arrived at the very borders of Beach City, overlooking a small grassy hill. Unlike herself, the aforementioned companion, Gold Pearl, seems to be visibly concerned about approaching the city. In order to express this worry, she suddenly stopped walking alongside Jasper, who dragged her along up until this point with considerable strength and a happy smile covering the bulk of her face.
"Pearl... what's the matter with you?"
Jasper said, turning back to her stuck, frozen companion. To this question, Pearl replied with nothing but a visible expression of concern, same as before.
"I thought you said you wanted to go on an Adventure. - Well... this looks like an adventure to me, and look, there are others down there!"
Jasper said happily, walking few steps away from Pearl to point towards Beach City, which was swarming with humans of all sorts. Small, tall, fat and skinny... You name it, the city has it. It was obvious by now that Jasper wanted to explore this city really badly. On the contrary, Pearl wanted to avoid it at all cost.
"Well... we could explore that hill over there instead... It seems rather nice."
Pearl said in a relatively uneasy way, trying to point her frail fingers towards the next hill over. Jasper seemed very disappointed with this. She sighed in a rather unhappy manner before docking her small body next to Gold Pearl, sitting on the grass near her, still overlooking the city. Seeing her companion sit, Pearl proceeded to sit next to her.
"Pearl... Are you afraid of that place?"
Jasper asked, wiggling herself closer to Pearl, who seemed to be doing much better by now, having her friend sitting next to her like this. It eased her quite a lot and somewhat gave her peace. The worried frown was suddenly turned upside down into a soft smile. Pearl proceeded to also place her hand on Jasper's thick mane of a hairstyle, ruffling the giant pompadour cheerfully, thus making Pearl laugh.
"Well... I suppose we might stop there for a while... I have never been to a city."
Pearl said in a shaky yet pleasantly happy voice. Truthfully, what she said was a lie. Pearl visited many cities back on Homeworld, but she would never dare to put such a heavy burden onto Jasper's young and cheerful spirit. After all, Jasper can choose who she wants to be and Pearl won't allow her to be defined by Homeworld's standards.
Philosophy aside, Pearl settled those thoughts and reassured herself that everything will be just fine. With newfound confidence, she got up somewhat swiftly, walking together with Jasper towards the nearest road of the City. Following the said road, Pearl and Jasper stumbled upon a rather cheery food joint, where a good deal of humans was eating various kinds of food. Jasper seemed very excited about it, though Pearl shared hardly any of her enthusiasm for the 'disgusting human habits.'
"Oh... oh! - Pearl! What are they doing?!"
Jasper asked with excitement in her voice, slamming her face into the glass of the cafeteria, staring into the plate of one of the humans, who admittedly seemed pretty disturbed by her antics.
"They are eating, Jasper... It is an ancient human habit that..."
Pearl was suddenly interrupted by Jasper, who seemed all too cheery to try this eating thing to see what it feels like.
"I WANT TO TRY IT! - CAN I!? CAN I!?"
Jasper yanked out of her mouth confidently, turning her gaze back to Pearl, using her unlimited cuteness to puppy-eye Pearl into agreeing. To this, Pearl sighed and nodded.
"Fine... but just this once."
She said unenthusiastically, entering the restaurant in a very awkward silence. Knowing very little, perhaps next to nothing about human customs, Pearl sloppily smiled and waved at everyone who passed by her. Before soon, she managed to nerd her way through the whole establishment, right to the counter.
"A table for two..."
Pearl said gently, upon which she and Jasper were led by a butler towards a small, quite cute table. - Jasper seated herself and so did Pearl. Both of them were handed the menu shortly after. Neither Pearl nor Jasper could really decipher this strange language, so they just sat there confuzzled from now on.
