Post by "Granny" Pearl on May 21, 2017 10:28:02 GMT
Name: Pearl Facet-1H3L Cut-5ZZ
Appeared Gender: Female
Appeared Age: Late 80s
Gemstone: Pearl
Gemstone Location: Left palm
Faction: Eventually Crystal Gem
Corrupted: Nope
Appearance:

Personality: Granny is sweat old Pearl. She like to smile, like to laugh. Likes good music and tea, or just sleeping in a wicker chair on the balcony of a Spire with a cat on her lap. She picked up these traits during her visits on Earth. Although she looks fragile and elderly... well, she is a bit fragile and a very old Pearl (old enough not to know how old is she) and senile sometimes, with occasional "nap attacks" she is still a Gem and her mind is more sharper than one Gem would suspect. Sharp enough to outwith the young ones and pull some pranks on them. Old age and treachery always overcome youth and skill. She spent countless millenias serving her mistress, a noble Sapphire, and while some of her demeanor rubbed off on Pearl, she remained the optimistic and happy Pearl she was, when Sapphire recived her. And her Faith. She is deeply faithfull and belives the Moon Goddess
Fears: Her biggest fear is "immortality". It is hard for her to be an old Gem, and see others gone. She fears and hates her own immortality becasue deep down she knows, no matter what she do, there is a good chance, she, a lowly old Pearl outlives those poor big Quartz soldiers or small cute Rubies, or other Pearls. he hates to be alone, and fears loneliness maybe even more. Loosing her friends and acquaintances is something that haunts her, be it war, be it punishment, or circumstances forcing them to flee, she fears, eventually, she left alone.
So she do everything to protect them and be with them as long as she could.
Weapon: Her cane. Nothing special, just a cane. Pretty useless in combat, since she is weak. But it is a nice cane, supports her weight, helps her to walk. Really nice cane. When she was a young Pearl she could summon a standard Pearl spear, but she summoned her weapon so long ago, most of the Gems who knows her thinks she actually forgot how to do it. She remebers. Simply refuses to summon it. The cane is better. And shaking her finger. Or a dissapointed sad face. She could wield guilt like an expert.
Abilities:
Ability 1: "Kissing a Boo-Boo Makes It All Better". Pearl warm and caring personality is so strong, like a good grandma' she could heal with a hug and a kiss. In her youth she was a 'nurse' next to a Rose Quartz and helped on the field. Those day are long gone, and her appearance changed since then, but the ability remained. And along with her new owners sometimes she visited battlefields and helped out.
It don't have to be a hug or a kiss, a simple touch is enough to ease the pain and heal small cracks - the ability is not as strong as a Rose Quartz's healing power or a Healing Fountain's water's (up to three little cracks or one big one), it is mostly good for easing pain, heal bruises - but she belives, a good hug and a kiss is the best medicine. The little Rubies loves the caring, but even a huge Quartz sometimes mumbled to her with emberassment; can I have a kiss on my boo boo too...?. They are so sweet.
Ability 2: "You wouldn't hurt an old lady...would you?" Pearl could summon a moonlight colored bubble "force field" to defend herself and others with it (She is capable of summoning it reflexively). The extension of her faith in the Moon Goddess and her protective personality, - so she belives - , the force field is strong enough to withstand attacks from even a Quartz or similar powerfull enemy; it is not large, she could only protect with her "moonlight Pearl" herself, and the ones around her; and have to concentrate upkeeping it (tho' she could try to heal somebody inside). The forcefield have a 3m radius and slowly fades (3 post duration, the first is 100% protection , 2nd 50% (with and 50% chance it "breaks"), the 3rd 25% (with 75% chance it "breaks") then it is gone). [it have a 5 Post cooldown]
History:
Pearl is so old, she can't really tell you how old is she. Her memories are a bit foggy. She was made on Homeworld, in ther distant past, when the Diamonds only had a handfull of Colonies and every Gem was young and full of hopes and dreams! Or maybe time just colored those memories.
Anyhow, she was a gift for a Rose Quartz, her first owner, a kind and caring Healer-Knight and to her she was like a mother figure. Pearl followed her, helped her. To heal the Gems, to protect the soldiers. To fight and defend those poor Gems who waited to be healed. Her Quartz never really liked the idea of conquest and teached her to love and respect life. Back then the Gems not really despised the organic life forms. Or... well she can't remember that part clearly, she always loved to belive, Gems are nice, but as the time passed she realized, the world around her slowly changed. As the years passed, a thousdand, three... five... ten, she noticed, the Gems became less and less like her Quartz. But she loved her Race like before. Veteran Quartz soldier or a new Ruby squad, it mattered not to them, they were Gems. It wasn't there fault, the Diamonds ordered them to conquer
It wasn't theri fault, her Rose Quartz died. Shattered. She never blamed the Quartz bodyguards, nor the Rubies serving under her Quartz, not even the Diamonds, but she knew, it was their order to march to that word! But she was devastated. The loss of her Rose Quartz made her sad and a bit bitter, but her faith in the Moon Goddess gave her strength, so she stayed and continued her work, helped the soldiers, protected the Gems in need. unconsciously changed her appearance to be more "mature". From a "teen Pearl" she bacame a "middle aged Pearl", in her 40s.
When Homeworld came and took them Home, Pearl was given to a new owner, this time a young and inexperienced Nephrite. She helped her new Master, when she was willing to listen to a Pearl, but as the years passed, decades became centruies, and centuries bacme milleniums, Nephrite learned a lot from her Pearl, and to Pearl, Nephrite was kind of a younger sister or even a daughter. Pearl saw enough of the universe to understand these relationships. She was proud of her Nephrite! Her first ship, first missions. first squadron. And so on. When she found love, Pearl was a hell of a "mother in law" so to speak, never loved that other Nephrite, but eventually accepted as "family". It was especially hard for her when she lost them. It was a stupid scouting mission, family road trip in a sense, when the ship malfunctioned. She saw them to hug each other as the consoles of the bridge exploded; she remebers their warm smile, as they activated her escaspe pod... then the ship exploded.
She spend so much time alone in that pod, finally she could't stand it anymore, and poofed from the sheer loneliness.
Around that time she lost the track of time to be honest; when a Roaming Eye found her Pod and took her back, she emerged as an "old" Pearl, when reformed.
The Diamonds found her a nice gift for a Sapphire noble, from the Blue Court to be her duenna, and in Sapphire she found a kindred spirit. Two old Gem watching the young ones, and played courtly games with the young ones. But she never lost the touch of her "grandchildrens', the little Rubies, the strong Quartzes, the hard working Bismuths, the smart Peridots! She visited the soldiers when she could, helped, smiled. A hug there, a nice word there. Just to see them. and to remember the good old times.
With her mistress Pearl visited Earth numerous times and watched humanity. Pearl was especially fond of the humans, and they called her "Granny" Both of them loved the Planet but Sapphire saw a dark future. Lot of pain. Lot of suffering. A War.
And she saw, Pearl will find her place on Earth. Sapphire herself was Loyal. The chains of fate, the prison of precognition forced her to stay on the side of her Diamond. But she found a way to cheat Destiny and gave her a ship and sent her Pearl to Earth with an order:
Help the Gems!
