Flurry sat back and smiled at the drawing she had made. She wasn't particularly skilled in drawing, so she left it very basic. However turning toward Variscite she noticed that her friend was distracted. She was about to ask a question, but instead followed Variscite's line of sight. She looked at the man in white and raised an eyebrow. Sure he looked suspicious, but that wasn't any reason to stare at him. Perhaps there was more to the story than she knew. She might as well ask.
"Uh, Centi do you know that guy? I mean he does look kinda scary but maybe he's nice? " Flurry paused and looked at the sand. She looked back at Variscite a second later. "Are you his friend? "
Variscite heard Flurry's faint voice in a sea of the screams of rage echoing in her mind against the intruder.
"Ah, yeah. We've been pals for a while now."
Then, as if this gesture would make her story more convincing to the smaller gem, Variscite waved broadly and bubbly at the hooded figure. She bore a stupid, wide, forced smile on her face. In response, the man only cocked his head and continued to stare at the green gem, unmoving and emotionless.
After a few seconds elapsed, the female frowned.
"As you can see, he doesn't talk too much. It's better to leave him alone when he gets like this."
Variscite smiled warmly and gave Flurry a secret wink, followed by an attempted sympathetic glance toward the man.
More time passed, and the cold figure stood still in the wind. Variscite frowned again.
"Alright, let's leave him be and finish our super fun sand castle!"
Variscite giggled and forced another shaking grin while she returned to the task of building the castle wall in dire hopes that Flurry would take her hint and follow suit. If she talks to this psychopath...
Flurry smiled a bit as Variscite waved at the man but her smile quickly turned into a look of concern. She had noticed that something was up with her. She was definitely not that man's friend. If she was, she would have approached him with more than a wave. The wink made her even more sure that something was up. Her mind was flooded with questions. However as Varisicte started working on the sand castle Flurry smiled again. Her smile was partially fake, to make Variscite think that she had no clue what had been going on, but at the same time Flurry was happy to be building a sandcastle with a gem she had just met.
"Yeah let's do that! " Flurry chirped. She started to pour all of her effort into building this castle. It had to be the best ever!
Variscite was relieved when Flurry smiled and got back to the castle with her, seemingly clueless as to the urgency of the situation. Although the gem's smile had faded for a time, Flurry appeared to only be delighted that they were at work on the castle again.
Two more minutes passed, and the man continued to stare at Variscite.
Variscite continued to ignore the freak until he turned his head to look at Flurry, sizing her up with the same, unsettling stare. He looked like a lion ready to lunge at a zebra. Through the darkness the hoodie shroued his face in, only the man's eyes were visible... his blank, dilated eyes. He was scanning Flurry from head to toe; her tender body and waste curves.
Variscite began to glare again, only holding onto a small part of her false smile the best she could, considering multiple different ways she could dismember the molester's body. He stood no more than thirty meters away. It would take me less than six seconds to kill him. But with Flurry here...
Flurry continued to work hard on the castle. After a while she realized that Variscite was still troubled. This of course lead to more moments of Flurry staring at the man. Flurry couldn't take her eyes off of him. It got a bit unnerving after a while. Flurry stood and grabbed Variscite by the shoulders.
"Look Centi... I like to be friends with everybody... but it's kind of bothering me that this guy is looking at me... " Flurry mumbled. "I think we should ask him to stop... maybe he wants to make sand castles with us? That would be fun huh? "
Flurry smiled. She doubted that Variscite wanted to actually make sand castles with this man. She knew for sure that they weren't friends, but she didn't want to accuse Variscite of lying. She wanted Variscite to find a way to work around this in a way that didn't involve accusing of anyone.
Variscite's lips trembled and a troubled expression formed on her face.
After a minute longer she started to speak.
"y... your right. He is bothering us isn't he... He-"
The man turned his attension away from Flurry and calmly walked off as if nothing had ever transpired between them.
Variscite felt so relieved that she began to cry, unable to hide it from Flurry even though the danger had passed.
"...... I'm sorry... I'm being such a creep aren't I... No, he's not a friend of mine. I just didn't want you to be scared... I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner... it's all my fault."
Variscite looked broken and in despair.
So I've failed her... And to think that every thing was going so well at the beginning. If only that sadistic, demented, freakish monster hadn't shown up. Was he even there? Or was he only a cruel, twisted illusion of my sad and fading mind. A cruel joke to laugh at my misery and strike just when things got good to take the best away from me... Why couldn't I stay strong, even now? It's all my fault. Its all my fault. Its all my fault. I was doing so well.. doing so well so w e l l so w e l l w so we..e..e..l..ll ooooooooooohhh we.e...e...e...eelll.ll.............
Flurry gawked at Variscite for a moment, shocked at how broken she had become in an instant. Flurry waddled to her friend and gave her a reassuring rub on the back.
"Heey... Heeey... There there, it's okay! You aren't a creep... You were just trying to protect me from that man, and to not let me be scared, that's super sweet you know? None of this is your fault... and you totally would have saved me if he did something. You were just being a good friend... " Flurry smiled and tilted her head a bit. "Now... if you are up to it we could finish our sand castle, it's almost done... if you want to take a break then that's okay too. I really know how bad it feels when you lie, I lied before one time... it's awful... "
She figured that Flurry would take off after being in such a situation. But... but I treated her so horribly.
Variscite gave her new friend a weak smile, which slowly grew more powerful; more assured.
"Th......Thank you." Thank you so much. Yeah, I'm fine; just glad your safe. Let's finish this castle!"
As Variscite happily got back to work she wiped imaginary tears from her face. Things had actually worked out. The female gem's pursuer had failed to ruin their fun. He had lost. They had won.
Me... just knowing their are people in existence like this kindhearted and merciful gem... now remembers why I need to keep on fighting. I'm not doing it for myself... I am doing it for them. I will continue fighting to rid the universe of trash like that man that would dare harm the glimmering lights that still hang on in this dark, miserable world.
In a short while they had finished the castle, which was unhindered now that their spirits were once again high. Flurry smiled and gasped at the finished product. It was at least five feet tall and three feet in diameter. The doorway was large so that one, and that meant Flurry, could enter without touching the structure. It was definitely too small for anyone else, but then again it was intended for Flurry. She walked inside and looked around.
For an instant it seemed that she would be disappointed with the tiny castle, but a broad grin spread across her face.
"I love it I love it I loooove it! " She squealed happily. "We've gotta build castles again sometime Centi, maybe next time it can be big enough for both of us! "
Variscite beamed enthusiastically since Flurry not only loved the castle she had built, but also wanted to hang out again. The girl had enjoyed being in the restless gem's company.
"Sure. That sounds nice. If your ever by the beach again, we'll build a HUGE sand castle."
"Oh, your a gem right? So, do you belong to a certain faction or something?"
Variscite was interested in what an innocent gem like Flurry would hold as a view on this planet. Was she a Homeworld gem who served the Diamonds, a Crystal gem who apparently wanted to protect this random planet, or some other gem who had a different kind of classification. It was unlikely that Flurry was a Homeworld Gem because she did not seem like she wanted to dominate all life. Unlike the Diamonds, Flurry accepted Variscite for the way she was. Then again, she was probably not a Crystal Gem because she did not seem the type to rebel for the sake of one planet. Besides, Crystal Gems just appear to be hypocrites who say they want to save the world just so they can cast off the responsibility the Diamonds placed on them.
Flurry's eyes seemed to grow with each thing that Variscite said. However, once she asked what faction Flurry was on the eyes returned to normal. Flurry grinned and leaned forward, swiveling her hips backward. She put one finger on her mouth, the other was straight by her side. It seemed to be a fairly cliche pose that she did by instinct.
"Well I guess since we're totally friends I can tell you! I'm a Crystal Geeeem! " Flurry broke her cliched movement to strike a pose. "It's totally awesome! We get to wear these super cool stars, and fight monsters and that's great but we mostly just hang out with our friends and have a good time! "
Variscite was taken aback when Flurry admitted to being a Crystal Gem. It made sense that the seemingly naïve gem would wish to protect this beautiful planet. It was better than any of the other worlds Variscite had been to before anyway.
Yes, I understand why someone would have this place as their favorite planet. It is even, do I dare say it, better than Homeworld. But, why would anyone blindly and ignorantly take on the entire Homwworld army for the sake of protecting one, exotic planet. Earth is certainly above average, but it is not the whole universe.
"Oh! That's cool!"
Could the warrior really tell Flurry that she was a Broken Gem. She did not share their ideals exactly, but would this innocent girl still be unsettled and afraid.
"I'm, well... umm... A Broken Gem!"
Variscite did not know if their even was a Broken Gem salute, yet she posed dramatically like Flurry.
"Y-you're a Broken Gem!? A-are you gonna cut me up and make me into soup!? I promise I don't taste good! Noooo! " Flurry screamed, cowering in fear. However, she turned to look at Variscite with a concerned expression. She frowned sadly and turned back toward her. She sat on the sand and propped her head up on her hands. "I'm sorry... I think I'm wrong to be afraid... the Broken Gems are really scary... but lately they've been nice to me. Blue Quartz has taught me fighting stuff... and Howlite is my best friend now... I think you are really nice too... I guess it's just your boss that doesn't like me... "
Flurry stood and smiled.
"Next time you see him can you tell him I'm sorry? I don't know what I did... but I didn't mean to do it... "

They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’.
