Jazz seemed hopeful as she watched the gem think to herself about this situation, hopefully she had made a good enough impression by now to at least be on neutral terms with this Sapphire.
Oh, she is actually willing to take the deal? And she seems very eager about this... Jazz starts thinking that she might be making this a little too easy for the Sapphire to manipulate but she was also just being honest about her intentions. She did have a point... Oh, she is actually trying to make this work. Well... Jazz did have a communicator stored at one of her very early hideouts that she has not gone back to since then. It might still be there, however she might go with a safer option than banking on it still being there and functional.
"I think that it would work better if we met in person. I might be able to procure a short distance communicator but that is not a reliable source enough for this deal. I promise I will not stick you into a trap when we meet, and I hope you keep your end of the bargain. It would be nice if you held up your end but I lose little from this. That is not permission to break it though." Jazz adds the end comment with a smirk and laughs a little, but Padparadscha can tell that she is serious.
Padparadscha gave a measured, slow nod. It would be tricky, for her to fly back to Earth in order to meet with a rebel. She could sense that Jazz was still being truthful-- in fact, the sapphire didn't detect any of the signs of wavering here. If she were caught meeting with the jasper, it could mean being stripped of her station, or shattered. But, the sapphire had a lot of freedom all things considered. She was not scrutinized by her superiors, because her loyalty had never been in question. It was impossible for her to leave the docks without a good reason, however, and she would have to find a way to contrive her schedule. Nonetheless, she decided that the deal was on.
"Fine. Research on this gem wont be done for weeks, and even after that, I can't know when I'll be able to come back. Keep your short distance communicator handy, I'll need it to locate you. I'll also need you to enter its coordinates here," She flipped open her slate, and scrolled to an empty screen, then turned it toward Jazz. "In the event that it doesn't work...meet back here, in exactly two months. If I don't come...wait."
She considered that this could also be a chance for her to bag this jasper and take her to the rehabilitation that she sorely needed. If she were to return with a group of quartz soldiers, it would be another notch on Padparadscha's belt. On further though, she decided that it might be ultimately unscrupulous for her to do so. If Jazz truly wasn't planning to trap her, then the sapphire wasn't going to plan to trap the jasper either.
Jazz weighs her options as the other gem thinks over her offer. If the Crystal Gems find out she made a deal with a Homeworld gem she might be branded a traitor to their cause and treated no differently than a Homeworld Gem... that would be bad, but at the same time she hoped that they would understand the whole situation...
Good! The deal was on, and she had a way to keep the terms on an even playing field. Her old hideout was way out of the way, no where near other gems, so she would not feel bad about giving its position up for this. Even if she did not have that going for her, she did have this spot. She looked over their current coordinates and memorized them, then she plugged the coordinates in for her old hideout.
"There you go, that is where the communicator is. I am glad we could actually work this out. It has been... interesting working with you and I hope this arrangement works out for us both." She knows this is not a friendship, but it is better than an enemy in her mind. "So do you want me to head back to civilization with you or part ways here? I do not mind either way. It was more for courtesy that I ask anyhow, your Clarity." Jazz smirks as she adds the title to her comment. She does not see this gem as being above her, but she also wanted to be a little more formal.
She gave a sidelong glance to Jazz as they ended their sentence with an honorific. Truly, it was refreshing for the sapphire to hear her use some conventional respect, but at the same time, she found it hard to guess what this jasper was up to. This day had thrown her through a loop, she had a lot to think on. She put away her slate, and tapped the bubbled gem. She gave a long sigh.
"My ship is hidden in the forest, near the foothills on this side of the valley. I can make it...provided those, ah, gems, don't decided to pay me a visit," She gave a smirk. The sapphire turned, and took a few steps toward her ship. She halted, and remembered the feeling of elation that had risen through her when, amidst the billowing snow and wind, the jasper's hand reach over the ledge of the cliff-side. How undignified she must've looked, an aristocrat hanging by the skin of her teeth to a rock. As reckless as Jazz was, she may well have saved the mission. Padparadscha peered over her shoulder, and cleared her throat. "Take care of yourself, soldier."
Usually, she would give the Diamond salute before leaving another gem. Instead, she simply carried on through the woods, under the tall, dark pines. Over burbling creeks, and around tall snowbanks, she followed the path back to her ship. When she finally found it, she brushed away the branches she'd used to conceal its bright pink hue, disengaged the locks, and glided inside. She took her familiar seat, and spent a moment in silent contemplation, before punching in the coordinates to HQ and taking off.
Jazz smiled to herself as Padparadscha explained where her ship was. She could tell that she was making the Sapphire think, that may not be a good thing, but she was happy she did it anyhow. Once Padparadscha said her farewell Jazz waved a bit and turned to head back towards civilization.
She started thinking about how this all started... She found a random gem she did not know anything about and helped them. Then she found out they were from Homeworld, and she protected them. She laughed to herself as she was walking back, this would be an amazing story to tell one of the Crystal Gems... as long as she makes sure they understand that this was not her betraying them. Now that might be a problem... Oh well, she did the right thing and that is what mattered to her.
You know... she also had a lot to think about, she aimlessly thought to herself as she made her way to... home.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
