In the many hours since he had last seen the Obsidian, Spinel had been wandering the Kindergarten waiting for her. He had become rather emotional since the encounter, and it could almost be described as being giddy. Although he was usually the reserved type, keeping himself and his emotions under control to keep the corruption at bay, he saw no harm in allowing himself a short moment of uninterrupted joy thinking about all that Obsidian could bring to the table.
Spinel wasn't sure how long it had been since he met the Obsidian, but however long ago it was he hadn't stopped thinking about the encounter since. For so long he had lost hope and resigned to a fate surrounded by lesser beings, but now he had a chance to change everything. After making certain that he wasn't being followed by anyone, Spinel sat down on a large rock and began waiting. Although there was no guarantee that she would show up, he couldn't help but be optimistic at a time like this.

Was she stupid? Going out without any of her bots to protect her was never heard from her. Did Obsidian fully trust this corrupt gem to this extent. "What am i doing.." she mumbled, making her way to the kindergarten, she wasn't far from Spinel but she didn't know that. As she made her trip to the location from her ship, she began thinking what was that "feeling" when she met Spinel in person. It was like they were connected like a string but Obsidian has never met this gem in her entire life!
"I don't get it, how could I, Obsidian, feel this way!" she yelled in anger, letting her presence known by Spinel. Instead of her usual calm walk, it was replaced by speed pacing. She finally spotted the gem "You!" she gritted her teeth "Explain everything right now!"
Perhaps he let himself get too distracted. As Spinel sat there thinking of the possibilities, he didn't even notice Obsidian was nearby until she started yelling. Snapping out of it, he jumped up and started heading towards her. However, things didn't start how he had hoped they would. As soon as she saw him, she seemed rather angry at him. "You! Explain everything right now!" The old gem looked confused for a moment before offering a light smile. "I'd be glad to."
Heading back towards the rock he was sitting on moments earlier, Spinel moved slowly to offer Obsidian a chance to walk with him as he explained. "I won't waste your time. The Corruption is a plague that quickly made its way through Earth in the past, mutilating any gems who couldn't tame it. Although thousands of years have passed, it still lingers. The disease works differently for each host, but there are some who can withstand the negative effects of the corruption, they don't become mindless beasts."
As the two made it to the stone, Spinel sat down once again and continued. "At this point, the Corruption is benevolent. It offers those who can control it unique abilities, such as being able to control the use of the corrupted form at will. Such control over the corruption is rare, but there are a few I've met that were strong enough."
After sitting quietly for a short moment, he tried to ease her into the realization. "Another ability that corrupted gems have is a heightened sense of perception. They're able to feel the presence of other gems and the corrupted."

She huffed, listening to what this gem had to say. She followed beside him, listening with great detail. "Interesting... Such value data.." she will not forget what Spinel was saying, this information was too valuable to forget. "At this point, the Corruption is benevolent. It offers those who can control it unique abilities, such as being able to control the use of the corrupted form at will. Such control over the corruption is rare, but there are a few I've met that were strong enough."
"So even strong gems can utilize the corruption powers and to even use the form at will.." she paused "This changes everything!" Obsidian anger seemed to fade away, her fascination of understanding the unknown is showing. That is until..
"Another ability that corrupted gems have is a heightened sense of perception. They're able to feel the presence of other gems and the corrupted."
Obsidian felt something struck her in the gut...hard.
W-what did he say? They're able to feel the presence of other gems and corrupted?
Feel the presence of a corrupted or gem..N-no.
Obsidian was clearly over-thinking it! There was no way that she, herself, could be corrupted. She had no contact with a corrupt-
Obsidian remembered Zircron. That little shit! N-no, this can't be true! Obsidian felt to her knees, her pupil dilated, eyes widen in total shock. Obsidian had fused with Zircron with her forced fusion machine before. She didn't even try to cure that bastard until it was too late.
This was Obsidian own fault, she had brought this unlucky fate upon herself. Now without no Diamond, no rank, nothing at all. Used, and manipulated by her own Diamond. She had lost her friends and lover, her innocence, and now she's a monster.
Obsidian began to laugh as she raised her head to the sky, tears falling down from her eyes. No one would want her, her lover, her life, she's good as dead at this point..
Spinel was glad to see that Obsidian seemed interested in the corruption, even if just from an academic standpoint. Most would shy away from it, disgusted, but she seemed to be more open minded. As he finished his short explanation, Obsidian began to act strangely. After a moment of silence, she looked toward the sky and began to laugh. Spinel sat confused for a moment before she began to cry. He was never good at dealing with the emotions of others, mostly because he didn't ever have to.
Standing up, he laid a hand on her shoulder, offering a light smile. "I can understand how you feel, but you don't have to be upset." It might not be easy to get someone to embrace the corruption, but he had to try. "You're not like the rest of the corrupted, you're not a beast. You're able to control it, you have a gift." After pausing for a second, unsure of what to do, he offered the sleeve of his uniform to wipe her tears. "In the past, those like us helped each other. We worked together to further our goals and we stood together when we needed each other." Even though this wasn't entirely true, Spinel saw no harm in exaggerating. "Although most of us are gone, it will always be like that. You'll always have a place among your own kind."

Obsidian stood there, hopeless and lost. Why did it end up like this? Why did all misfortune seemed to happen to Obsidian only? The question popped up in her mind Is there anyone else who is experiencing the same unlucky pain like me? She stopped sobbing and stood quiet. Was Obsidian the unluckiest gem ever? was this karma? if she was unlucky why hasn't been dead or given a fate worse than death yet.. Why couldn't she just die then!?
That word ranged in Obsidian mind for a bit until something popped in her head once more. She should've died on that explosion, she should've died by encountering with those rebel scum or Mr. O himself! No, she isn't lucky, she IS lucky. Obsidian slowly began to piece the puzzle together. Finding the truth about her Diamond was to prevent herself from being tricked upon! Seeing the powers of Opal was to give her an edge against her opponent and her enemies! Finding and experimenting Agate was to test the limits of her enemies!
The explosion wasn't no accident..No , It was a blessing. Without it, Obsidian wouldn't be here and seeing the truth for once! It was a necessary sacrifice cloaked as a unlucky event for both parties.
And the forced fusion with Zircron..
"You're not like the rest of the corrupted, you're not a beast. You're able to control it, you have a gift."
It was a gift from a god.
Obsidian began to laugh but life in it. Her look of hopeless was gone and instead was replaced with her usual egotistical smile. "I, Obsidian, understand everything now!" she looked to Spinel "Luck has sided with me, Obsidian!" she roared into the air with laughter. she turned her eerie eyes to Spinel, starting deep into him. "You say i have a gift hmm? Then tell me how to use it, tell me everything I need to know about my powers." She can use this to her advantage.
As he was attempting to comfort Obsidian, Spinel noticed her laugh became more genuine; it wasn't hiding pain any longer. He smiled and was about to speak again before being cut off. "I, Obsidian, understand everything now!" "Luck has sided with me, Obsidian!" Obsidian turned to him, a bizarre look in her eyes, almost demanding that he teach her how to utilize her new potential.
Although slightly unnerved by the sudden change in disposition, Spinel was quick to dismiss it due to the rarity of other corrupted gems. Normally he wouldn't be so foolish as to simply ignore something like this, but he was eager to regain what he had lost when the others left. Spinel smiled, motioning toward the direction of the warp pad. "If you wish to learn, come. There is much we have to do." He turned and started walking toward the pad, checking to see if Obsidian would follow shortly after.

Obsidian quickly followed after, eager to understand the ability of being corrupted. With the ability to transform into a new form at will is too much of valuable knowledge to lose up on. "I am ready to learn anything." she said with a (slightly creepy) confident smile. Truly with this power, she may beat her enemies that are stronger than her in strength.
"So what is the first lesson?" She asked, her arms placed behind her back as she followed Spinel behind. Her cautious attitude was replaced with a confident stride. A question came up to her mind as she continued walking with Spinel. "Can corrupt gems fuse together into one corrupt gem fusion?" If this was true, then aligning herself with this gem will be perfect for Obsidian.
"I am ready to learn anything." Spinel chuckled quietly to himself, remembering when he was in Obsidian's place many years ago. "Good. Such behavior will be very helpful in the beginning." As the two made their way through the Kindergarten, she continued to show interest, asking him what the first lesson would be. "I will show you how to warp the corruption to your will, which will make controlling yourself in your corrupted form easier."
As they continued, Obsidian asked a question Spinel had been wondering himself for some time. "Can corrupt gems fuse together into one corrupt gem fusion?" "I'm not entirely sure," Spinel slowed his pace as spoke. "The corrupted can fuse with unafflicted gems all the same. I assume that if two skilled corrupt gems fuse then they could function as a stable fusion with the benefits a normal fusion gets, along with enhanced corrupt abilities. Perhaps we could test it someday." As he finished, he turned to face Obsidian. "Do you have a preference on where you would like to learn?"

"I will show you how to warp the corruption to your will, which will make controlling yourself in your corrupted form easier."
Good, I'm glad we're learning the important matter right off the bat. Obsidian thought, a smirk creeping up on her face.
"Do you have a preference on where you would like to learn?"
"Anywhere is fine, I have no issues with locations or specifics entirely" she said, looking around the kindergarten. She stood by Spinel and looked at him, awaiting for his words to unlock the potential of corruption for Obsidian. "So what, do I have to fuse with some gem, get angry, hurt myself." She asked "Or is there something completely different that I do not know yet?"

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
