Radiant had a look of confusion after Cat's Eye had asked her question. Well, what could he expect from such a simple mind? Drinking up, he answered with a smile he was faking: "Well, before my change of heart, I was a proud homeworld gem, but now I am mostly doing it for my own benefit and the benefit of... my friends. Like I said, I am a scientist and everything is a test subject to me. Of course,...".
He revealed a small part of his arm to the little yellow gem, showing her the porcelain-like skin of his, with dark cracks from which black gas lightly arose "... this also includes me." If one had been paying great attention, one would see a strange glow in the white beryl's eyes, like a twisted determination, hell bent on some sinister goal.
He went to the record player and put on some swing jazz before returning back to his seat.
(OOC: Sorry for the long wait, my computer broke and it didn't get fixed until recently)
The yellow gem's eyes widened at the revelation of the cracks in Radiant's skin. She shouldn't be really surprised, she had seen them when the white beryl shapeshifted into a serpent, but curiosity still gripped her. She now knew he had been experimenting on himself, but she still wasn't sure what those experiments actually were. Like she had did before, she decided not to ask him about it; perhaps knowing it was the result of an experiment was enough for her. Not noticing the strange glow in the gem's eyes, she stated, "...Test subject?" Cat's Eye paused, musing on the subject of that. "You aren't going to use me for one of your experiments, are you?!" she cried, jumping to the conclusion quickly. "You wouldn't do that..." she muttered. But then again, he could, she said to herself, letting herself know once again that Radiant could be still dangerous.
Radiant drank up his tea and made a slight smile. He theoretically had the small gem at his mercy, he did not expect any fight coming from her, but at the same time this was not his plan. "Oh, don't worry, like I said, I do not intend to harm you." Radiant stood up and took away a piece of the protocol that Cat's Eye tried to decipher in her curiosity and put it on top of one of the piles. "I won't do any harm, however, I would like you to assist in my research. To be a partner in my scientific study. Would you take up the offer?"
Cat's Eye, although slightly disappointed by the gem not revealing to her what his paper was about, took another sip of the tea made for her, and thought about the white beryl's offer momentarily. She was relieved that Radiant had no plans to harm her, but even then, she still couldn't let her guard down. Still retaining a straight face, she asked, "How would I help you?" Perhaps it would be for the best if she knew what exactly she was doing. She didn't want to be played into Homeworld's hands, but if this was not for their benefit, she could go with it. Cat's Eye didn't know what was going to happen next, but she was prepared for what is to come. As she waited for a response, the swing jazz continued to play in the background, and hummed quietly to the tune.
The white beryl went to one of the bookshelves and moved his hands, seemingly trying to find a particular one. He knew that he needed to bring Cat's Eyes guard down, at least, he thought so. She still seemed very uncomfortable around him, but he did not know how he could make her absolutely trust him, at least for now. Radiant turned his attention back to the little gem: "Well, I have become quite fond of you, so maybe I could... teach you something? Excuse me, but you seem uneducated on matters concerning this earth. I, too, am somewhat uneducated myself concerning this matter. Well, why not team up then?" He rolled up the sleeve of his robe so that Cat's Eye couldn't see it.
Radiant glanced at his skin, this curious skin of his. Yes, he would educate her, but alas, all knowledge has it's price.
Cat's Eye took little offense to the white gem's statement on how educated she was. Back on Homeworld, no one expected the soldiers to beas educated as an aristocratic gem or technician; everyone knew that. She didn't know how long Radiant had been on Earth, but she assumed that he knew a little bit more about the earth than she did. "I guess you're right," she spoke up reluctantly. "I've been on this..." She paused, wondering how Radiant would react if she said 'lousy' to describe Earth. He did seem quite interested in it; she was not. "...planet for a few years, but I hardly know anything about it." She was hesitant with going with this decision, but just maybe it would be for the best. She wasn't interested on getting on his bad side at this moment. Cat's Eye stood up from her chair, facing the white beryl. "Maybe we can both learn something."
She glanced over at the bookshelf. If she was going to be helping Radiant, perhaps she could learn something before heading off. But then again, she still had to be wary in the case of the gem backstabbing her.
After Cat's Eye agreed, Radiant looked into the night sky through the balcony glass. He still felt this uncertainty, or rather vigilance in the little yellow gems voice. However, the fact that he brought her to cooperate with him meant that she started to come closer to him. All is just as planned he thought as Radiant came back to the table. "We are both gems, so we do not need sleep, but I feel quite tired. If you do too, you can stay here for the night." He delivered the offer with a charismatic tone of voice. Looking Cat's Eye into the eyes, he added: "Don't worry, I will not dissect you while you sleep."
Although Cat's Eye was not really tired, she wasn't sure on how exactly she would help Radiant. Besides, she would be more energized in the morning either way. The problem is actually going to sleep. The oddly specific statement the white beryl made worried the yellow gem quite a bit. She remained silent, thinking of what to do. With a potentially dangerous gem standing right in front of her, she had to be careful with what she said. One wrong move, and perhaps Radiant could actually dissect her.
"...I just want to know how I'll help you," she decided at last, taking a quick glance at the exit of the apartment, then back to the taller gem. "I'm not really tired, but thanks for the offer." Caution still lingered in her voice; Cat's Eye didn't expect it to go away any time soon.
Radiant did not know how he could bring Cat's Eyes guard down. The only thing he could do is to chip away at it until it was completely gone. For now, he needed to appear as trustworthy as possible, which really was no easy task. "Well, sometimes things get a little exhausting in my work. So you could be my helper, at least for the time being." For now, he needed to think of a new plan to combine with his previous one. In his eyes, he Radiant was not doing anything malicious at all. He told the truth, she would be his helper and in turn, he would be a kind of teacher or mentor for her.
"Helper..." she muttered to herself. She would be a helper to Radiant regarding his experiments. She still had no specific answer on what she would be doing, but yet again, the trust between them was still very uneasy. Cat's Eye wasn't originally planning to stay over at the white beryl's apartment for the night, but now, she might actually have to. The yellow gem walked over to the balcony, and started to stare out into the city. The city lights lit up the cover of darkness. It was a spectacular sight to see while the gem battled with the choice of staying or leaving Radiant. She did not stay for long, though. Turning back to the taller gem, she stepped back inside, and looked up at him.
"Actually," she started. "I think I will stay here tonight." It wasn't her preferred choice, but it might be the only option right now.
As Cat's Eye stood there, watching the ambient night sky, Radiant walked up to her on the balcony a bit. Nights such as these had a strange symbolism for him, which is the reason why he enjoyed them so much. When the yellow gem uttered her answer, Radiant turned to her also and replied: "Very well. Since you don't want to sleep, you can simply do whatever, provided that you don't break anything. I will tend to my business then." Walking back to the room in the direction of the table, he turned again and said with a small, faked smile: "Thank you for your answer." He then sat on the chair he previously sat on and pulled out some pages from a pile, reading them.
Shapeshifting into the form of a small cat, Cat's Eye laid down near the door to the balcony. She might as well make herself comfortable, since she was staying here for the night. Her ears twitched at the sound of Radiant's voice, and putting on the best smile she could in her feline form, she replied, "You're welcome!" Resting her face, the yellow gem began to scan the room for something that could occupy her time while Radiant was asleep. Getting up, she padded over to a pile of papers laying on the ground, and tried her best to read them. Like what was on the paper she had read earlier, the gem assumed it was about the white beryl's past experiments. Also similar to before, she could not read it real well. She did not ask what it was about; remembering what had happened minutes earlier.
After reading them, she returned to the balcony, and started to look out it again. The stars shined brightly in the night sky, not a single cloud in sight. It was breath-taking. She let her form take that of a bird, and flew up to the railing to perch on it. As the swing jazz remained to play in the background, Cat's Eye observed the stars. Glancing down at the city below, she thought, perhaps she could explore it. She looked behind her at Radiant. Should she, though? Until she decided, the yellow gem just watched the sky, seeing if something interesting could happen.
Radiant walked over to the recorder and shut the music down. Then, he went to his table, some notes as well as books and began reading them. However, this was only a relative strategy in order to trick Cat's Eye. He was thinking, but about a completely diffrent topic. The white beryl had more or less come to tge point he expected, though the question now was how his plan should proceed. Well, as he promised the yellow gem knowledge, they would go on a trip and with some great luck find a corrupted beast. Either that, or just sit around all day and study, but something told Radiant that Cat's Eye would prefer the first option. He looked at his papers and dreamed about his masterplan finally coming to fruition. He looked deep into the night sky, two thoughts came to him and he made a fake smile.
The yellow gem continued to do her own thing in the apartment. Even when the room went quiet with the disappearance of music, she paid no attention to it. She was memorized by the night sky, and how the stars twinkled brightly. A shiver went down her spine when Homeworld crossed her mind, knowing that one of those bright, bright stars was Homeworld, somewhere out in the galaxy. Noticing Radiant on the balcony, the shapeshifted gem lifted her talons off of the railing, and flew over the white gem, beginning to hover in front of him. "Hey, Radiant..." she started, her voice trailing off. Was this a good idea? She already knew that the beryl was quite tired; he had stated it quite a few times to her. Yet, she did want to explore Empire City some more. "Could you show me around the city?" she requested, and quickly added, "Just a few places near here...please?"
Radiant kept his fake smile as Cat´s Eye pleaded him to show her the city. He traced the yellow gem´s eyes to the where she was staring. Sometimes, when he looked into these star-filled nights, Radiant was determined to finish his goals, with that gem by his side. The yellow gem´s is definetly young, at least younger then Radiant he thought as he analysed her form a little more. He stared into the sky, then focused on her and spoke out: "You know, I think you will make a good partner. But I don´t think that I can show you this city for the time being. Tomorrow, we will have some practical training. I said that I would teach you, didn´t I? Well, what is better then hands-on experience?"

This Site will likely have unmarked Spoilers for the entirety of the Steven Universe Franchise, it is recommended that you go watch the show if you have not already before looking around the site.
Note: This Roleplay is an AU to Steven Universe, with its own Story to tell that will deviate from the show. While the show focused on Rose’s Son Steven, The RP instead presents an AU, where Rose started the rebellion conflict in modern day instead of 6000 years ago, and the story focuses on the conflict between the Homeworld loyalists, and Crystal Gem Rebels.
For a more detailed timeline please look at
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
•Within the Show, Rose Quartz Rebelled against Homeworld 6000 years ago. On the Site she waited and only started the rebellion in 2013
•In the Show, Pink Diamond was Shorter then the other Diamonds, and only had a short time commanding her Colony before the rebellion started. On the Site, as Rose Hesitated, Pink has had several thousands of years experience in managing her colony, and additionally is of a height and stature the same as Blue and Yellow Diamond.
•In the Show, the Colony was very early in production before the rebellion happened, thus explaining the lack of frequent Gem structures on Earth. In the Roleplay, the Earth has the same amount of Gem structures as the show, buts its because construction on Pink's colony was very slow due to Earth being on the furthest Edge of the Gem empire
•In the Show, the Crystal Temple was implied to have been built after the Rebellion, On the Site, its implied to have been retrofitted from a Homeworld Temple structure.
