Lapis followed Ruby through Beach City on the way to the Crystal Gems' temple. Continuing from their conversation out in the meadow, she recounted tales in which she had either ran into trouble via encounters with gems or encounters with native wildlife. If Ruby gave any indication that these made her uncomfortable, Lapis didn't seem to notice and kept on talking. Unless Ruby stopped her, she seemed to have enough stories to talk the whole way to the temple.
Walking up the steps to the temple, she pouted her lips in thought. "...They might not open the door for us. I knocked here a few months ago and waited on the doorstep until sundown. No one ever answered. I don't know if that's because other gems don't understand what knocking on the door means, unlike humans, or... I'm not sure."
Ruby didn't seem to get uncomfortable from anything that Lapis was saying. She smiled the whole way to the temple, and simply nodded along. That made it difficult to tell whether or not she was actually listening, or just liked listening to Lapis talk, but conceivably it was both. Once they reached the temple's steps, she rubbed her chin and looked at the door.
"There might not be anyone in either. But I'd think that door knocking would be a pretty universal thing, right? It's like clearing your throat or tapping your foot. Something you do to let someone know you're there. I guess we'll just have to hope that there's someone in to help us." And with that, Ruby stepped over to the door and knocked three times, pretty hard.
The young corruption loved to explore. Hamster Ruby saw two gems, one was a Lapis Lazuli and the other was... Well, what did Hamster know! It was another Ruby! The corruption raced to the door of the Crystal Temple, wanting to meet this fellow Ruby. As he reached the doorstep, he yelled "Hi!" He knew he might've scared his fellow Ruby, but he didn't care. He just wanted to meet another Ruby. He knew he could get along with other rubies, even better than he got along with his mother. Being a rodentlike being, Hamster spread out his big ears and put on a puppy dog face. He didn't want to scare his friend now that he thought of it, so why not look cute?
Ruby had her back turned - as she was facing the temple door at the time. When she heard the 'hi,' she turned, blinking as she saw nobody in front of them. She looked left, then right, then up into the air, before turning to Lapis. "Did you say that? Or-" She looked back at the door and called out, "Hello! We're here to use the warp pad!" She stepped back, dangerously close to the much smaller gem, looking over at Lapis with a look full of confusion.
"Maybe they're a shy gem that doesn't want to open the door." She thinks, adding (towards the door,) "We're Ruby and Lapis! And we're not here to hurt anyone, we promise - we just want to use the warp pad!"
Realizing this fellow Ruby did not notice the gem that was speaking was behind her, Hamster pawed Ruby's leg. "I'm back here. And I'm not a Crystal Gem," Hamster squeaked. "I belong to Purple Sapphire's small group known as the Surviviors." The small corruption smiled, knowing that the gems would be afraid if he looked hostile. He didn't want to scare his soon to be new friends. He put his paw over his gemstone, just in case the two gems in front of him did anything dangerous. He wasn't hiding his gem very well, but if a gem tried to shatter him they'd cut his paw off and poof him instead. Not that it would do much. Hamster still had much to learn about rivalry, but he would get there.
"Did I say something? I thought you said something." Lapis had originally responded to Ruby, fulling turning around to see if there was anyone behind them, and not bothering to look down. No gem could possibly be much shorter than herself, who was only a head taller than Ruby. When Ruby suggested it might have come from inside, Lapis added her own shouting. "Yes! We're not looking for trouble! If Light Mocha Pearl or Para are in there, ask them about us! We're friends of their's!"
When the Hamster Ruby began speaking again, Lapis couldn't mistake where the sound had been coming from this time. She turned around and furrowed her brow at the talking... gem.. hamster standing in front of them. She glanced over to Ruby.
"Oh, um, I'm sorry," Hamster said. "Don't worry. I won't hurt you. My name is Hamster Ruby, but please just call me Hamster. I saw you two here and I knew this was a chance to meet a fellow Ruby." Hamster smiled, trying not to look intimidating but by the looks of it was failing. Maybe because he was a bright red rodent, a talking rodent, a corrupted freak show? No, because he was a gem. And a hamster. At the same time. "I wasn't made like this, if you ask. And my name wasn't always Hamster Ruby. I was made just like your Ruby here," Hamster squeaked. "It's... C-corrupt... Corruption.." Hamster began to feel sad as he tried to say "Corruption," but he brightened back up in a second. "But don't be scared. I won't hurt you. Besides, what can a hamster do to a gem?" Hamster squeaked, smiling.
Ruby also turned to look down at this hamster, then over to lock eyes with Lapis. She let the gem say its piece, and then opened her mouth, looked back over, and closed it again. There was a pause, and then she finally spoke. "...so you're a... Corrupted Gem? But you can still control your actions...? Um... are you sure you're not shapeshifting?" Ruby said, quietly, looking pretty confused.
"And you said you're part of a group founded by a Sapphire? Why is there a Sapphire on Earth? And why would she be running a - group - called the 'Survivors?'" Ruby said all these things with increasing confusion. This was clearly something she was uncomfortable not knowing about. That being said, she already wasn't very comfortable.
"I'm certain I've not shapeshifted. I can't ShapeShift," Hamster squeaked. "And the Survivors are not founded by A Sapphire, but THE Purple Sapphire." The small corruption removed his paw from his gemstone, exposing his gem to the other gems in front of him. Being a hamster, he'd make sure Lapis didn't do anything using water. He said nothing about his hammer, just in case Homeworld overheard, or worse these "friends" attacked him. He was sure they would never do that, but you can never know.
Hamster continued taking about who the Survivors were. "The Survivors are a small group of gems that fight both sides so they don't shatter. They're... like Homeworld, just better intentions for those around them," he informed.
"I thought corrupted gems were all mindless. All of them I've seen so far act like animals, not just look like them." She frowned, as if taking this into consideration. She listened to Hamster Ruby explain her group, then nodded and returned her attention to Ruby. "Sounds like our group made out of you and I—how it used to be at least. Even though we never actually fought any Crystal Gems or Homeworld gems." She took another moment to think. At this point, using the Crystal Gem's warp pad seemed to be the least of her concerns now that there was a talking corrupted gem in front of her. "...What should we do Ruby? We talked about curing the corruption, so... do we bubble her and keep her in the apartment with your crew until we figure out a cure?"
"Maybe..." Ruby tapped her chin and looked down at the Hamster. "I don't think we could ever join a group that likes fighting groups. Or thinks its like Homeworld. Our group isn't really like Homeworld at all - it might be more like the Crystal Gems? But I don't really know enough about them either... But I don't know what we could do if we brought her back to the apartment! We don't have really any way of curing the corruption yet. But if we don't bubble them, then what if we never get to see them again, or they get angry and try to fight us later?" Ruby seemed particularly conflicted, giving side-eyes to the Hamster as she spoke to Lapis.
Listening with his rather large ears, Hamster gasped at the sound of being bubbled. "You mean... You'd 'boof' me!?" Hamster yelled, horrified by the thought of being poofed. "The survivors don't like fighting groups. They try to avoid other groups entirely," he said, calming down. "And if you dare 'boof' me, I'm afraid you will both be 'boofed.'" Hamster's gem began to glow as he removed a white figure that turned into a three-spiked hammer from it. It was the HamHam. He stood on his two back paws, wielding the hammer with his two front paws.
"I said we were a bit like Homeworld because we are trying to survive just like them. But we are less cruel and we don't have specific roles for specific gems. What I said before was an understatement. We are like a mix of both groups," Hamster said, preparing himself in case these two gems attacked him. "You said you were going to 'boof' me. So try," he said.
Lapis tilted her head from one side to the other as she stared down at the little gem. Her face was a contortion of surprise and confusion. She listened to the hamster's spiel, then glanced back at Ruby, making no moves to prepare an attack. "I don't think they're as corrupted as they look. I've never seen a corrupted gem be able to summon a weapon before. Maybe they're mostly alright, or they really are shapeshifted but they're mind isn't working as it should." She tapped her own gem, as if to remind Ruby of her own situation. "Maybe we'll just cure the corruption and find them later. It's not like this would be training anyway. We still need to find a way to get to the warp pad if we want to use the arena."
Ruby nodded gently, looking to the hamster and moving towards Lapis defensively. She also didn't summon any weapons, just sort of backed away and looked concerned. "Yeah... you're right. Maybe we can find a Crystal Gem in town that'll help us with the door. If this corruption can understand us, then-" Ruby turned to the hamster. She spoke like someone might speak when they're concerned of a language barrier - with long, drawn out syllables.
"Yooou don't haave to fiiight us! We're - weee'reee not gooiiing to huuurt yooou." Ruby reassured, with a wide smile. Then she looked to Lapis with the same smile, as if to get her to do the same. Clearly this was a necessary component of calming down the situation.
Hamster stayed completely still, his weapon looking more solid than ever. He didn't move a muscle. His only movements were blinking, and breathing. "If you think I'm not corrupted, listen to this. One day, before I was corrupted, I had come home to mo- uh, Sapphire. She had apparently been scared half to death because I was gone so long. I usually had a good track of time and I had sworn it was time to come home. However, I seemed to have way overestimated the time. That's when it happened. Before I had realized what was going on, my hands were paws and my whole body was tiny. It was so fast I thought I was dreaming! But..." He paused, his glare turning into a frown as he shook his head. "I wasn't."

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
