Dot walked outside the temple, looking out at the world around her. She never really took the time to appreciate or look hardly at her surroundings. She was walking to the beach to see what water was when she was knocked to the ground all of a sudden by a white blur, whatever it was it hit her right in her gem. It was poking her.. or pecking? She backed away still on the sandy floor below her. It was what appeared to be a bird but it had a large beak and white feathers. It was a pelican but peridot was not aware of that fact as this strange bird pecked at her visor as she frantically tried to get it off her. You saw the whole thing.
Lapis trudged directly out from the ocean, rising out in a smooth transition that might have suggested she had been moving directly from the ocean floor to the beach. On her back was a sort of netted backpack loaded with ocean plants, sand dollars, shells, and other miscellaneous items.
She quickly shuffled out of the water at the final stretch to avoid being buffeted by the waves. She spotted the Gem being harassed by the bird, and scrunched up her face in a sort of leery pout. She hurried over—the shells in her bag jingling with each step—until she arrived to help and began waving the bird away. "Hey, you get out of here! She's not food!" Lapis put a hand to her chest and summoned a ball of water, which she promptly threw in the bird's direction. Some would have made contact with the bird, but most of it fell on Dot.

Imperial Topaz sighed as she hefted several bags of charcoal onto a countertop, pulling a few pieces of human money from her gem and tossing it at the terrified clerk behind the counter. The fact that she wasn't allowed to use the forge for 'personal' use meant she had to build her own, and with no easy sources of magma nearby Topaz would be stuck with an archaic fire-based melter - if it would work that is. The Gems in her squad thought her crazy to go into human territory alone, but it wasn't like the humans were really involved in the rebellion in the first place. The ding of the cash register prompted Topaz to scoop up the several bags and strut out the front door, sighing as she now had to make the trek around the beach bend all the way back to camp a few clicks from here. She started walking, mumbling annoyances at the sand that kept slipping underneath her heavy footsteps.
Dot got more panicked now that water had splashed on her, along with a strange gem near her. She locked her limb enhancers on the strange bird and fired a line of small balls of electricity in a circle, trying to hit it. "Go away!" One came extremely close to hitting the blue gem, while the others missed her and the bird completely, but they luckily scared it away. She sat on the sand extremely scared, she tried to learn more about earth and that is what happened. She put a few notes in her limb enhancer about the bird, half forgetting about the blue gem. She dried her limb enhancers on the ground before noticing the lapis lazuli. "Oh... Hello... Did you try to attack me or the bird?" She slightly backed away, still on the ground. She slightly pointed her left arm at the blue gem.
Lapis watched the bird fly away with a big triumphant smirk on her face. She then blinked at Dot and sat down with her, forgetting to remove her bag of sea items. "Huh? Oh, no I was just scaring away the bird!" She said with big eyes. "I noticed it was attacking you, and I don't like birds. Nobody deserves that." She nodded. "You are... Peridot, right? Wait! No you're not the one I know." She said, raising a hand before Dot had a chance to speak. "You must be another Peridot. You don't have all the... pink... Anyway, I'm Lapis."
She looked like she might have continued talking, or allowed Dot a chance to respond, but she spotted the Imperial Topaz walking down the beach with her bags of charcoal. She called out to her, waving. "Hey watch out around here! The birds might be after your things!"
Dot looked back at the Imperial Topaz then back at the lapis lazuli. "You sure have a lot of different types of gems in the rebellion, huh? And it's nice to meet you, Lapis, and thank you for trying to scare away the bird." She spoke slightly fast due to the stress of what had just happened while she dusted off her limb enhancers and some of the sand and water on her back and gem before standing up, standing a bit taller than the blue gem in front of her. "Where are you heading to?" She said glancing at the bag of sea items and gesturing to the bag with her hand slightly wondering what items were in the bag.

"Wha-?" Topaz was surprised by the voice that suddenly called out to her - who would be walking the beach this time of the day? - and her foothold in the sand began to slip and she ungracefully faceplanted, bags flying away from her. Luckily, none seemed to have torn open, so she began to carefully collect them all again and looked up to greet whoever spoke when she realized their were two gems up ahead - neither bearing the Homeworld insignia. Topaz had, luckily, been wearing her Forge armor today - so telling that she was a Gem would be rather hard at first glance. "Erm... hello there. I did not expect people to be out so early. What was that about birds?"
"Oh... I got attacked by one... a bird that is. Sorry let me help you with those." She quickly sent a few of her limb enhancer digits to pick up some of the stray charcoal and place it in the bags. "Are you a human...?" She spoke, uncertain of what this being was and trying to recall if she had ever seen a human that had this appearance before. Maybe it was a gem. Maybe it was from home world? Dot doubted the other gem would be from home world, she just seemed to be more relaxed with earth. She seemed to be doing something important. She hadn't done something important for a while. She waited for the reply with a bit of anxiety. She remembered that lapis was there and glanced back at her, forgetting about the question she asked the topaz but remembered so she looked back at topaz.

"I..." Topaz began, not wanting to reveal her loyalties in case the two were Crystal Gems - especially considering one was a Lapis Lazuli near an ocean for diamonds sake. "...Live around here." She hoped that answer would suffice, gathering the last of the loose pieces and scooping all of them up again once more. What were two Gems doing here anyways? Well, the Lapis was understandable - large body of water - but why the Peridot? As far as she could tell, there were no occupied houses ON the beach. Realizing the technician still had limb enhancers, Imperial Topaz decided to as her a question: "You two are Gems, right? Are you with the 'Crystal Gems' or... the other side in the war?" ...Topaz would need to work on her investigation skills.
Peridot rubbed the back of her neck. "Er... well I'm just on earth. It's complicated." She admitted to herself. She hadn't been to home world in some time, sixty years, three months five days 3 hours 33 minutes and 2 seconds to be exact. She kept track, she still considered herself to serve home world but she had come to appreciate the earth in the past sixty years, three moths five days 3 hours 33 minutes and 6 seconds. She didn't want to believe home world or her other peridots had forgotten, maybe they had... but no, hopefully not, anyways. She looked at the bag of charcoal, "What's that for?" She asked curiously. She snapped a picture of the topaz with her limb enhancer screen, something on her screen told her this was an imperial topaz. "Oh! You're a topaz! What's a topaz doing with bags of... coal?" She tilted her head in slight confusion, it looked like coal. 10 seconds...
"I'm not a Crystal Gem," Lapis answered, shaking her head. She hurried over to Topaz to get a better look at the bags, disregarding any sort of guard Topaz would put up unless there was a weapon in her face. "I've seen this though!" She glanced back at the Peridot. "Sometimes the humans use these to... make things hot before they eat the things." She paused to consider this. "But I don't know what that's supposed to do. They eat things I pick out of the ocean right as soon as I come to the surface." She jostled the bag of shells on her back. "But I don't know. This might just be a human who is taking their bags somewhere."

"It's charcoal, actually. Its a lightweight hydrocarbon and ash residue produced by removing water and other volatile constituents from animal and vegetation substances, usually produced by prolysis -" Imperial Topaz bit her tongue, curbing herself from going on a further explanation rampage. It wasn't the place or time to be fraternizing with non-loyal Gems with unclear motives. "Anyway. It's charcoal. ...Well goodbye then!" Topaz began to walk forward once more, positioned in the middle of the sand strip as to not get too close to the water. Perhaps the Lapis Lazuli hadn't heard the Peridot's question of why a Gem had coal, but Topaz was more than happy to let that slide in favor of getting away from here as quickly as possible.
"Hey, why are you leaving so soon? What are you doing with the charcoal?" She asked genuinely wanting to know what the charcoal would be used for, lapis said it would be for food but what was food? She put her screen away while turning back to lapis. "What about you? What's in your bag?" She said pointing to the bag of sea items. She sat back down in the sand, crossing her legs. She didn't really know what to do now. It seemed that back on home world she always had a task to do. "Anyone need help with anything?" She looked around to the imperial topaz and lapis lazuli, half looking out for any other birds that might be around.
"Goodbye! And watch out for birds!" She waved to Topaz, figuring she wouldn't be able to solve the mystery of the charcoal and so deciding to drop it. She turned her attention back to the Peridot. "Oh, these are just things I found in the ocean that look nice." She pulled the bag off and set it in front of them. It didn't seem to contain anything particularly eye-catching, but the various shells, bits of sea glass, sand dollars, and other miscellaneous items must have still held value to Lapis. "I'm probably going to look at them again to see if I still think they look nice, and I'm taking the good ones back to my apartment." She said with a nod. "So no, I don't know if I need any help with that, unless you also think what I think looks nice.

Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
