Padparadscha's eyes shifted between Jazz and 3JJ. The rebel jasper seemed to be trying to get along with the group, while 3JJ seemed like she was ready to pounce at any second, musculature poised for attack as her eyes bore into Jazz. All the same it was a high pressure situation, and the group had made it much farther this time than last time. The sapphire was still questioning her choice of letting the rebel come along with them, but if they were attacked, it would be a boon to have another gem on their team, even if it was temporary.
The sapphire, recognizing how hard Jazz was trying to mediate, crossed her hands behind her back and began looking around. Fighting the river did sound like a risk, but there were many other paths, off shoots, dark crevasses, and the rest of the river to follow. The trouble was that the more time they spent here, the greater their chance of having an unpleasant run in would be.
Just as she was about to reply to Jazz with her deductions about the matter, something like a falling stone clashing against stone echoed through the cavern; the loyalist gems froze, all but for their eyes frantically searching for the source of the sound.

Jazz froze when she heard the sounds against the stones. She looked around the cavern as calmly as she could manage. If it was the corrupted gems, they were very compromised. Last time they were much closer to the surface and Jazz could fight one back. But if one showed up, there would be more to follow quickly behind.
She locked onto the source of the sound, which was heading towards them from the path they came down. She saw wall starting to have cracks form, indicating that a corruption would be upon them soon. Jazz felt that she had to act but she also felt that acting would spark the end of the other jasper's patience... She signed to the other gems quickly what she saw and prepped to bolt down the nearest passage if she needed to. She would follow the other gems' plan but she had her own if they had none.
The two homeworlder's glanced around frantically, before their eyes caught onto Jazz's signals, and then the crumbling stone. There were only seconds to make a decisions about what to do. 3JJ didn't think, she just sprung forward to put herself between the sapphire and the stone. Behind the sound of grinding stone and sputtering water was the steady thump of the kröhnkite corruption's feet as it dug through the wall. Before any gem could blind, the nightmare beast burst from the wall face-first with its drill still spinning. The kröhnkite corruption was brilliant blue, and just like before its limbs were disproportionately small compared to the enormous, toothy drill that replaced its head.
"Wah!" Padparadscha leaped back as she screamed, and 3JJ grit her teeth as her baton materialized into her hands. The jasper bodyguard hurled herself forward, straight at the thing to catch its attention. As frantic as she was, the sapphire knew this clash was only going to compromise the entire area-- they needed to dispose of the corruption quickly, and get out of the cavern fast. While the sapphire strategized, the bodyguard braced herself for impact.
"Flank!" 3JJ called to Jazz in the seconds before her collision with the terrifying creature, but she didn't balk in the face of it.

Jazz saw the kröhnkite burst through the wall. Great... She summoned her helmet and preformed a spin dash (normal) into the side of the corruption, causing some damage and getting the corruption's attention off of the sapphire. Once again, she is putting her self between danger and a Homeworld gem. It was one of those days. Hopefully this time will go better than the last.
Once she finished her dash, she took up a flanking position with the other jasper. She looked to the other jasper to best coordinate her attacks with her. If they wanted to end this quickly they would need to work together, quickly and efficiently. At least she still remembers her military training from Homeworld, so she will be able to follow any strategies given.
3JJ swung with all the fury she could muster, her baton smacking over the kröhnkite corruption's face with a resounding crack. It's spinning drill caught her weapon and slung it across the room; a pallor washed over the bodyguard as she realized the creature was nearly unfazed by everything she'd just dealt to it. Next the kröhnkite lunged forward, intent on taking down the offending jasper-- before it was struck in the side by Jazz's spin dash, knocking the top-heavy beast over. The thing fell head over heels, literally, as its drill thunked into the ground and began tearing at the stone underneath, its short limbs waggled as the corruption shrieked, trying to get back up to its feet.
As Jazz ran around to the creature's flank, the loyalist bodyguard whirled to make sure Padparadscha was still okay. The sapphire was physically fine, but the more she entered combat, the more it ground at her nerves, the more it seemed an impossible task for her to take on. However, the jasper knew her abilities would be priceless in trying to take advantage of the opportunity Jazz had created with her spin dash.
"Your clarity!" 3JJ called, snapping Padparadscha out of her anxious stupor. The sapphire clenched her teeth and dashed forward, summoning more plasma, then shot it out in an attempt to capture the creature in place, while also dealing it some damage. As she did so, 3JJ spent a moment to resummon her baton, and prepared for the next strike, as she was sure Jazz was already in the midst of.
Jazz took her opportunity to headbutt the joint of the corruption, causing more pain and hopefully distracting the corruption from drilling to escape its current predicament. Jazz looked around the cavern for a route to escape. The tactic of attacking the corruption did not work well last time. She signed her concern towards Padparadscha, since she also remembered the painful experience that beating one corruption was last time. She was not ordering or giving a plan. She simply knew that this strategy was not the best from experience and that the sapphire shared it. Hopefully the other jasper would be able to catch on if the other two planned to quit the field. She would stand and fight for as long as was necessary however.
As she wrapped her plasma around the creature, it took all of her will to stay focused enough to keep it down. It let out a squeal as Jazz knocked one of its wobbling joints backward-- along with the blistering magma-like substance that had begun to stick it to the ground. The sapphire bit the inside of her cheek as she tried to determine what the best course of action would be. The area was compromised, and soon the other remaining corruptions would surely soon arrive. She was too caught up in thought to see Jazz's signals, but 3JJ's keen eye caught them.
"No sense in sticking around, we're already compromised," 3JJ spoke up, and grit her teeth. She followed Jazz's example, disabling the creature's joints with a smack of her baton so that it wouldn't be quickly following them if it managed to pry free of the sapphire's plasma,"We should get out of here, especially if there are more of these-- these things,"
"Tch," Padparadscha furrowed her brows,"You're asking me to settle for retreat a second time," Soon the creature was entirely cased inside of the hardened, stone-like substance, but she knew the corruption would be able to break free. 3JJ gave a hard look to her patron, but the sapphire gave a heavy sigh,"It isn't our fault. The place needs to be cleared by a team of quartz, not us. It's time to withdraw," The frustration in her tone, however, was as tangible as the stone they stood on.

Jazz looked around the cavern again for a way out. She was sorry that Padparadscha was forced to fall back again. The only places they can go to get out are the first path up that they came from, one cavern angled up, and the river....
She says, "Which path do you want to take? I saw three ways that could work but I will leave the choice up to you two." Jazz says calmly, "The river could lead out of the cavern or deeper it, so it would be a risk. Going back the way we came is a way out but the corruptions could give chase. There is another path that is slanted upward but we are not certain if it leads out." Jazz waits for the other two gems to pick a path.
Padparadscha gave a nod,"We should go the way that guarantees our exit..." They should, but the sapphire's curiosity about this place was blazing. She needed to know what had happened here; why the Kröhnkite team had been compromised, what had happened to the shattered gem, and where the technology that she sought was now. "But...the mission..."
3JJ could hear the disappointment in her patron's voice, but as far as she was concerned there was nothing any of them could do about it. Just one of those beasts had taken so many consecutive heavy hits and still resisted losing its form-- she couldn't imagine fighting more than one at once. Their only advantage was their ability to think ahead and their maneuverability. 3JJ stuck a hand out for the sapphire to take, implying that she agreed with the former statement; they had to leave as soon as possible.
With a reluctant sigh, the sapphire took the hand offered to her, and 3JJ picked her up, then without further ado, sprinted for the way they came from.

Jazz noticed the disappointment in Padparadscha's voice, but this was beyond them sadly. Once the sapphire was picked up by the other jasper, Jazz knew that they were leaving. She spirited close behind the other gems, following them out of the caverns, back the way that they came. As they were sprinting back up the caverns, the gems head the digging behind them. Jazz could tell that they were heading towards the trapped corruption. Thankfully.
The three gems covered quite a lot of ground, especially with the threat of the corruptions. They had made their way back to the cavern where Jazz and Padparadscha fought the corruptions a while ago. However, they start to hear the caverns rattle and shake.
The whole cavern shook and jostled as if there were an earthquake-- the ground underneath 3JJ's feet seemed to arch, snap, and wobble. She didn't stop, she just kept sprinting back through. Padparadscha sensed something off however; last time they had been cornered by two of the corruptions in this cavern, the shaking walls had been an indication of their arrival, but this time it was much greater, almost as if the mountain itself where awakening and coming to life around them. She grimaced, and eyes flicked up to the ceiling of the cavern. The sapphire gasped,"Look out!" She called over the rumbling stone; chunks of loose calcium and rock from the previous battle began to hurl down and smack into the rock floor. Stalagmites began to snap and crumble, dirt debris showering over the gems making their escape.
3JJ grit her teeth, attempting to make it to the light at the end of the tunnel as quickly as possible. But before she could, a massive chunk of stone fell, partially blocking the exit,"Agh!" The jasper snarled in frustration; something had triggered an earthquake, and she had a mind to blame the kröhnkite corruptions, who could show up at any moment, but it could've been incredibly bad timing as well.
"It will take a moment for me to melt through this," Padparadscha grimaced, 3JJ kept herself spry and moving. Her plasma could definitely melt through, given time, but time was something this make shift team didn't have.

Jazz shook her head, and revved up a spin dash with her helmet on. She quickly reached top speed and shot herself at the rubble, aimed at the keystones. She dug into the loose rack easily and punched a large enough hole for everyone to climb out of. Good thing her helmet gave her more striking power.
"Come on! I got enough moved to leave." Jazz says as she moves aside to let the other gems through, "It should also slow the corruptions down a little, seeing how fast we got back up here."
Jazz figured that the collapse was caused by the corruptions but it could have been an unlucky natural disaster. Either way, they were free to exit the caves quickly.
Padparadscha jumped down to her feet and dashed for the exit with 3JJ covering their escape. She dove through the opening that the rebel jasper had created, and into the daylight. She whirled to see if the soldiers were behind her. The sapphire grimaced. she was a fragile gem, so she was glad to be out of the line of fire, but she felt on edge; not only because she was on the lip of the mountain cavern's edge, but because she had a bad feeling about how this was going to go. It seemed that all the damage done to the cavern before had loosened rock from the old passages, and now that it had been retread by the corrupted creatures, the labyrinth was falling apart. She may never get her chance to solve this mystery at this rate, and she could only hope the others would make it out okay.
3JJ turned to leave, but as she did the rocks kept cascading down-- and with them came the corruptions, falling from the ceiling and smacking into the rock floor of the cavern. The jasper snarled as she counted two of them, and shot a look toward Jazz, then back to the corruptions. She didn't trust the rebel, so she wouldn't leave her patron in the gem's charge. All the same, it wasn't in her nature to intentionally leave someone behind. The bodyguard summoned her baton, swung it into her hand as rock continued to tumble around them as she backed up for the exit, intending to cover Jazz's retreat.
Jazz noticed that the other Jasper was moving to fight the newly emerging corruptions. If she thinks that she is just going to throw herself at the corruptions alone, then she has another thing coming. Jazz summoned her helmet and made a move to stand with 3JJ. She gave her a look to indicate her intentions, she wanted them both to leave on the same retreat. The fact that these creatures could withstand extreme physical abuse. In her mind, they were leaving together or they were fighting together. Either way, the jasper was going going to work alone.
The cavern's quakes continued as more rubble fell in the cavern. A large chunk of rubble fell upon one of the corruptions, showing the unstable nature of the cavern and how short on time the two gems were on choosing their course of action.
3JJ's eyes widened as the rock crushed their would-be opponents, then cast a glance to Jazz, lip pulling,"Lets get outta here," The jasper could almost chuckle at how crazy this situation had been-- from working with a rebel soldier, to finding the pieces of a long forgotten mystery, to seeing it all quashed in moments. The jasper kept an eye on her temporary team member, and made a break for the opening before leaping through and tumbling just short of the edge.
Padparadscha let out a relieved sigh when she spotted the two jaspers, then turned and began to climb down the ladder she created. The structure had been made with the intention of coming back here, but with the cavern filling in, it would be all but impossible to dig up the clues she needed in order to make a determination either way about the shattering or the team of corruptions. While she made her way down, 3JJ too began scaling the ladder, checking to make sure Jazz was behind them before she made her descent.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
