A whisk of brilliant light beamed up from the warp, and off of it stepped a small, glittering padparadscha sapphire dressed in her field attire rather than courtly regalia. With pursed lips, she glared up at the derelict communication hub. It had been abandoned and largely inoperable for years, with the exception of a few breaches in Homeworld monitoring of the enormous device. Closely behind her followed 3JJ, a large, burly Jasper with a soft, creamy tone juxtaposed to her harsh expression. Arms crossed, the jasper trailed after the sapphire, but kept her eyes on the move, ready to pick out any odd activity in the area.
Meanwhile, Padparadscha flicked the bracelet on her wrist, bringing up her dossier for this particular mission. She had of course already read the dossier, but now she was looking for specifications; whether or not they would be confronting rebels here was yet to be seen. 3JJ already knew the drill, but she was impatient nonetheless, foot tapping quietly as she scanned the surroundings like a lion hunting for prey.
There was a blip from Padparadscha's holotech,"A match," The sapphire grumbled,"Let's move in," She turned to glance at the jasper, who gave a solid nod in return. The two of them marched toward the communication hub, intending to make an entry to the building.
An black and white figure underwater slowly emerged. She was crying, but for some reason, she wanted to cry, not because she's feeling sad, but because she would lose herself again. When she wasn't able to take this anymore, she stopped and started screaming very loud. "I've been wandering for days Peridot! At least you won't hurt anyone!" She said to herself while laying down to rest. "Silence brat..." Peridot's mood changed completely in a matter of seconds. She stood up and noticed that one of her Limb Enhancers was in the water, so she picked up and looked for any malfunctions while walking through what looked like a island with Gem Tech.
When Peridot heard some footsteps noises, she activated her Spikes, just in case that were an stronger Gem in terms of design. She kept walking and found some Gems, but she didn't know what to do yet, Peridot needed to know them first, but she couldn't trust on PR, so she just kept walking, retracted her Spikes back to her shoulders and started a talk with the objective of an interrogation. "Heya..."
Both Homeworld gems stopped in their tracks at the scream that echoed over the air. The jasper and sapphire looked at each other, Padparadscha's brows quirked while 3JJ frowned deeply. There was no way something like that would be ignored during an investigation, so the two of them turned away from the derelict communication hub. Padparadscha's steps were almost too quick, she rushed in the direction of the noise, though 3JJ didn't trust it, and hurried to place herself between the royal sapphire and any dangers that laid in wait for them to find.
However, soon they were faced with a single peridot. 3JJ crossed her arms as her heavy brow, gemstone and all, lowered over her eyes. Padparadscha stepped out from behind the lofty jasper with her arms clasped behind her back. Padparadscha's thin, kempt brow popped up as the peridot gave a decidedly casual hello to the two homeworld gems. "Greetings," She started simply, giving a side eye to this mysterious gem who had just climbed out of the Earthling wilderness,"This is a monitored zone. Might I ask who you are and what it is that you're doing here?"
Easy questions that she could answer quickly. "Peridot Facet-2J8O Cut-9OJ and i didn't came here because i wanted to. I would tell you why, but probably you wouldn't believe, So i'm not doing anything here" When Peridot was about to salute them, she remembered that a lot of rebels were still on this planet, so asking first would be better. She knew that most of the rebels had a symbol to show that they are indeed rebels, but Peridot is not attached to prejudgment. "So... I would salute, but since there's a lot of rebels out there, i will just ask, because i play on both sides, as long as i stay safe" She didn't see a single reason to not tell the truth, after all if anything went wrong, she just had to poof or even shatter everyone around.
When Peridot gazed for a while at the Jasper, she noticed that probably she was the one making the noise. It would make the rest of the research much easier. "Do you need any technical help or are you just passing by?" Play the good one was hurting her mind, but she knew that if they were hiding something big, gaining trust would be the way.

The skeptical look on Padparadscha's expression slipped off of her face, her brows shot up as the corners of her lips drew sharply down, pulling so heavily as to even leave her mouth slightly agape. The sapphire, still standing rigidly straight with her shoulders back and her chin high, stared at peridot with astounded disbelief for a solid minute, before her lips slowly came back together. The question asked of her might as well had flung straight over her head, because there was something else peridot had said that deeply concerned the sapphire.
"Playing both sides? Did I hear that correctly?" She uttered, glancing up toward Jasper. The large guardian gem unfolded her arms, and cracked her knuckles. A pause followed for a brief moment.
"I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news," Padaradscha continued speaking as her eyes settled back onto the interloping gem, her voice modulated to sound upbeat and pleasant despite the subject matter,"But you are either with us or against us. There is no possible way to be a loyalist if you have rebelled, there is no playing both sides," Her hands remained clasped behind her back, but she prepared herself to whirl into action the moment this gem would. Her experiences with attempting to detain rebellious gems had always gone awry in one way or another, but now she had much more knowledge to guide her decisions. Padparadscha prepared to employ her sense for the truth, and cleared her throat before asserting her question with a harsher tone,"So are you loyal to your magnanimous Diamonds, or have you rebelled?"
Peridot even tried to be mad just to pretend that she cares, but the insignificance of the conflict in question on her point of view didn't help. She took a deep breath and tried to argue, but without patience she would try only one time. "Think, have you tried yet? It's neat, because on this way, you can you realize that the Diamonds are strong enough to crush you anytime..." Of course, she wouldn't argue without being herself, not caring at all for what the others could feel, say or do. "... And that the Rebels don't mind in making a huge mess just to save this puny Planet, sometimes you need to stay between what can shatter you and what you can shatter"
After passing by so many Gems and Humans, Peridot already knew that no matter if she stay put or try something with them, always ended up unleashing it if someone interacted with her, so she was ready to lose control again, but still didn't know when.
Without forgetting to answer the question, she decided to risk everything, telling the long truth. "I'm not a rebel, i just don't want to be shattered for nothing... And by nothing i mean my other me. I'm defective or something like that. Sometimes my personality changes completely and this would be unacceptable for the Diamonds. The worst part is that my other me is in fact a rebel, i already know that for self experience" She was with a clear skeptical look on the face, because she knew that was almost impossible to believe in this "Defect" and even if she believed, what would change? Peridot still saw her as a small-minded while she couldn't accept stay on both sides. But maybe it was a matter of time to everything change.
The sapphire's large, perceptive eyes trained over Peridot's expression like a precision laser, picking up all of the subtleties of the gem's emotions. There was something that was just a bit off, her eyes narrowed slightly but she continued patiently listening despite the condescending tone the gem had taken. Padparadscha had grown use to that sort of treatment from rebellious gems, it hardly phased her at this point in her career. Her lips pressed together as Peridot gave a recount of her reasoning for leaving her station, then she let out a long sigh.
"I'm not quite sure what you're saying," She stated rather bluntly, then gestured toward herself,"I'm a Pink Court investigations officer, not an expert on the programming of gem minds, so forgive my unenlightenment," Her eyes flicked away as she further contemplated what Peridot had said, then her gaze pierced back into the technician,"The Diamonds are indeed powerful, yet we were created to serve them, it is a hefty responsibility. There is always a way for you to serve the grand Authority. In fact, 3JJ and I have come here to investigate recent activity at this old abandoned Communications Hub, perhaps your technical talents could be proven here?" The sapphire flicked her wrist, giving a swift gesture toward the position of the moon in the sky, even if it were obscured by the daytime atmosphere of Earth,"We shall take you back to headquarters and determine the price for your crime, but if you perform well, I shall be happy to advocate for you in the Courtroom. Now, if you would follow me..." Her head canted to the side, she watched every movement of the opposing gem, knowing it would probably not be so easy, though she had met gems who were exceptions in the past.
Jasper also kept a hawk-like eye glued to Peridot, ready to react, but the burly quartz rolled her shoulder and stepped up to Peridot's side, glaring down her nose at the technician.
Peridot didn't wanted to deal with this at all, but she knew that if she just poofed herself, it wouldn't be enough to bring it out, so she could take a break from the ignorance. Knowing that she needed to feel something strong, she already chose what: FEAR. "So... Do i have to follow you... Catch and poof me if you really want" She started to run faster with the power of her limb enhancers. "What am i doing!?" She started to feel afraid. "I don't know, maybe i want to be poofed, then shattered..." She started to panic while running, so she started to slow down eventually. "No... I won't give up" She stopped, turned back and cried for help, but when looked around, noticed that she was stranded with Homeworld Gems. "Please don't take me back to Homeworld! I just wanted to be happy..." She stumbled and fell. Crying in despair she just embraced herself. Trembling she asked herself. "Why... Why am i so defective? My Kindergarten was fine, at least i remember that..."
Padparadscha's thin brows shot up as she watched Peridot turn to run, but she watched the gem go without moving after her. 3JJ started after the escaping rebel, then the sapphire spoke up,"Wait," Partly to 3JJ, but also to the escaping technician, whose abilities she had hoped would truly become proven; the communications hub had been broken down for years and made communication across the surface of Pink Diamond's colony difficult to facilitate. She let out a huff, and stepped with a measured pace after Peridot, and listened to the words she spoke. Her lips pressed together, she didn't know what to make of this behavior, but found herself exceedingly curious.
"Peridot, I'm attempting to give you a chance. Our magnanimous Pink Diamond has room in her court for gems of all kinds, so long as they can loyally, diligently carry out the task they were designed for," She spoke matter-of-factly in juxtaposition to the highly emotional admissions of the the technician. She kept a steady pace toward the rebel, making no sudden movements, and 3JJ lumbered after her, glowering toward the rebel.
The Jasper's eyes occasionally flicked to the sapphire, who she wouldn't dare to question out loud, but there were times when 3JJ internally found herself skeptical of Padparadscha's methods. Shouldn't the two of them be aggressively hunting this rebel down, capturing her and detaining her? Apparently not so, because the sapphire continued walking in a careful manner toward the technician,"Perhaps we can discuss this...defect of yours while we peruse the ruin, yes?" Her voice softened, though it was still modulated in a way that may strike some as uncanny.
She was so scared that she might be shattered, but this Gem, somehow calmed her down even saying technically that her second chance would be staying a slave for the Diamonds. "T-Thank you, but... I won't be able to have... Fun here again... With others" She didn't know yet if it was Peridot's plan or a give up session, but she decided to continue what she started, but still afraid of what could happen. "My name's PR, sorry, but if i need to serve Pink Diamond...So be it" Suddenly her voice changed at the very end, she wanted so bad to be free, but she wouldn't do it sacrificing someone. "Peridot... I know what i'm up to, i was about to wait until we arrive at Homeworld, so i could shatter a bunch of Gems, maybe even Pink Diamond herself... But i won't trick myself this time!"Once PR said that, her personalities started to collide and she almost collapsed while screaming in pain for some seconds. "Brat! I had a plan! And the Brat decide to be a slave just to not shatter a Diamond!" Her Limb Enhancers went into combustion and she lost her Shoulder Spikes on the ocean. "I'm feeling hatred coming from me... Investigations Officer, poof me now please! I don't want to fight!!!" She screamed while crying because she felt like this was one of the worst days of her existence. Now she just needs a little push to not do anything wrong.
The color drained from Padparadscha's complexion as she listened to Peridot have a back and forth with herself, and her body became unnaturally still; it reminded the sapphire of one of her first encounters, way back in the beginning of her field career when she had met a Howlite with a strange proclivity for arguing seemingly with himself. There were other instances of gems having strange defects that were hard for her to understand or cope with the existence of, it was difficult to fit such gems into her world view, yet she would try her darnedest to do so.
Here was a gem who, by her own account, was attempting to not only shatter other gems, but a Diamond. Though, her disordered reasoning had left her largely at the mercy of Padparadscha and her body guard Jasper. The sapphire's warmth, even if modulated, had seeped out of her demeanor; now her large eyes stared with a more frigid, calculating gaze, still carefully scrutinizing the rebelling tech expert.
"Poof you?" She uttered quietly, brows floating, still startled by the extremely shocking admission made by Peridot, or PR as she seemed to now call herself. Padparadscha gave a quick glance to Jasper, then back to PR,"Fine then," The investigator summoned a bright bauble of plasma, and drew it out into a spear-like shape. There was no way she would allow this gem to walk free after telling of her dark, ludicrous ambitions anyway, so it was convenient that Peridot had wished for it herself. With a flick of her wrist, she sent the spear zipping toward the peridot gem.
"Thank y-" Before be able to thanking her, she was seriously damaged, after some seconds of agony, she finally poofed due to the fact that Peridots don't poof so easily. Then even without knowing this Gem, PR already had a debit with her. Nothing, she couldn't do nothing anymore to retaliate or shatter anyone, it was perfect for PR, and as she know, horrible to Peridot, cause nobody would get hurt... But her. While regenerating, the time passed very fast, she couldn't feel anything, just an awful pain on her Gem. While the time slowed down, she could feel that something bad was about to happen. Peridot would have another chance to take control over the situation, and since PR was so weak now, it was a great timing for her to do so.
The investigations officer glared down at the peridot stone that had fallen into the grass and dirt. Her mind was still wracked by what she had heard. Had she brought this gem back to base, would it have caused danger for her fellows, and her Diamond? She shuddered thinking about it, and she was reminded of a time when her trust in other gems had indeed put other Homeworld loyalists in danger. Padparadscha stared at the ground, reevaluating her worldview.
3JJ glanced at Paparadscha from the corner of her eyes, and swallowed. There were a lot of things she wanted to say, but she kept them to herself. It was the same for the sapphire, until she let out a huff, and straightened her back,"We'll detain this gem and get her back to base after the mission is completed," Her voice was now more authentic, yet bedraggled, as if the energy had entirely sapped from her body.
Padparadscha reached down, intending to bubble the gemstone...
It seemed that Peridot had already given up, but PR wouldn't accept that, everybody she met on Earth couldn't be in vain, all the friends, even if if it was just a few friends, it was worth for her, weak or not, she must find a way to take the control back before Peridot did something wrong. Peridot were able to recover a little faster this time in cost of her shape. She regenerated faster without caring for her body, just to retaliate. "...Thank you for the extra time to regenerate, now i can do the same to you, that is, if you won't be shattered first! I tried to ARGUE! The brat tried to EXPLAIN! Now it's time to noone try anything anymore" Peridot was tiny and glitching, but tried to pull her Spikes, although they were on the ocean, so she quickly ran towards the ocean.
"I'm so sorry!" When she grabbed the Shoulder Spikes, tears rolled down her face. "This Pain... Shut up!" Peridot pulled up her Spikes and aimed right at the Gem who shattered her.
Was aimed right to on her Throat with full speed, it was calculated to shatter her, but always when Peridot or PR uses the Shoulder Spikes, she just gets even more hurt from inside her own Gem, as the Gem Tech is connected to her Gem.
The small sapphire recoiled with a gasp, eyes wide as the detainee already began to regenerate, and stumbled back from Peridot as she gave her threats. The Jasper body guard's expression darkened, like a typhoon blotting out the sky on the horizon, as the disordered technician took off toward the shoreline.
While Padparadscha shook with shock, 3JJ had already blasted off into action, whirling to put herself between the flying spikes and the valued aristocratic gem. Jasper bared her teeth, her thick mane rippling like a lion's as her muscles flexed, the gem on her forehead glistening as her baton took shape in her hands. 3JJ moved with uncanny speed, and smacked the spikes with a home-run swing, sending them flying in the opposite direction before she dove forward into a spin dash gunning straight for the attacker.
The body guard had acted as her shield long enough to allow the sapphire to gather herself. Her whole body continued to shake as an adrenaline-like response coursed through her body, telling her to run while she could-- but she had almost never allowed herself to run in the past. 3JJ was her ally, and she would provide back up with her ranged ability. The small gem dashed forward, following 3JJ into battle against this peridot, accumulating more plasma to use in the fight as she ran.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. *The "corruption" is being treated like a virus due to lack of info about it on the show.
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
