Name:
Taupe Pearl
Appeared Gender:
Female
Appeared Age:
22
Gemstone:
Pearl
Gemstone Location: Back of left hand
Faction: Whichever side currently has a gun to her gem
Corrupted:(Y/N) No
Appearance:

Her appearance is more utilitarian, as opposed to that of a fancier Pearl.
Personality: Taupe is by her nature submissive to authority, having very little autonomy of her own. She will follow most any order she is given to the best of her ability. Centuries of abuse at the hands of her previous master have left her flighty and nervous, and overall cowardly and fearful. She doesn't function well when she has to make her own decisions. She believes that her job as a secretary gives her her purpose, and she can't even do that well (or so she thinks). However, she is very persistent, and will work hard to accomplish whatever goal is set before her, almost to a fault. She is greatly loyal to those above her, and is dutiful to those she serves.
Likes/Dislikes:
Likes:
Being told she has done well
Safety and security
A set purpose
Someone to direct her actions
Staying in one place
Dislikes:
Making mistakes
Wide open spaces
Travelling
Change
Being punished by her masters
Fears[/b]:
Being removed from her duties
Being shattered out of incompetence/security concerns
Being seen as worthless
Weapon: Double-Scythe (currently unknown/unable to summon)
Ability 1: Taupe lacks eyesight, but maintains absolute knowledge of her body's proportions and her position in space. This allows her to maintain a near encyclopedic knowledge of any area she is given time to physically map out, allowing her to navigate without seeing anywhere she has been before. She is also able to measure any object she can touch down to the millimeter by touch alone
Ability 2:
Not so much an abilities, but interesting facts. If she sleeps, her dreams project as a sound-waveform. Also, if her gem is cracked, she slowly gains eyesight. Theoretically, if she were cracked all the way through, she would be able to see, but of course she would be dead so it wouldn't matter.
History: Taupe was made to serve Hematite, the leader of the Gem Intelligence Sector (a combination of the NSA and the Gestapo). Rigidly ideological and brutal, the GIS was tasked with maintaining absolute control over the Gempire and it's subjects, monitoring all activities and preventing any dissidence. Naturally, this created a brutal, tyrannical organization with a leader to match. Something of a sadist was required to oversee such a machination of misery, but Hematite remained parked behind a desk. Therefore, Taupe served not only as a secretary, but as something of an outlet for Hematite's frustrations and as her malicious entertainment. This wore Taupe down quickly; the average lifespan of a Pearl in her service was measured in mere decades. Taupe has thus far lasted four hundred years.
Now, the GIS was above everything else a security branch. Therefore, secrecy was paramount. The question naturally arose as how to keep important documents out of the hands of Pearls who didn't need to see them. The solution was novel: all the Pearls manufactured for work in the Great Knowledge Spire (the GIS' stratosphere-piercing headquarters) were created without eyesight, in order to prevent wandering eyes from seeing what they shouldn't. To ensure all of them could still preform at absolute efficiency, they were trained to memorize their position in space in relation to their body proportions in order to navigate blind. It only took a few months to memorize the exact layout of the Great Knowledge spire, in order to navigate as well as someone who could see.
Character Arcs: I would like to see Taupe removed from Hematite's tender care one way or another, and allow to explore life as an independent gem free of fear and not required to follow orders. I would also like to see here develop to be more physically independent. I don't see her ever permanently gaining sight, but I would like her to be able to take care of herself, perhaps learning to fight at some point.
