As happy as she was to see her new friend enjoying the food Ruby frowned at this. Not at the communications hub, she was actually pretty satisfied with the cut off from Homeworld. She frowned at how her new friend didn't have a home and wondered why.
"That's sad.. if you don't mind me asking, why? Don't you want to be around other gems? You are a Crystal Gem and you're always welcome at the temple you know. I mean, I know that some gems camp around when they're busy on Crystal Gem missions. But you should think about finding a more permanent place to stay, you know, with friends." Ruby said. "Anyways, what did you mean by working? What do you do exactly?" Ruby asked.
"What do you do exactly?" Fulgurite stopped eating and set down the piece he had pulled off. Cursing in the back of his head at the simple bluntness of Ruby's questions. Letting out a slight sigh he sat back in is chair and laced his fingers together. "I certainly do enjoy the company of others, don't get me wrong. I have always enjoyed the company and companionship of both humans and gems alike. But due to the... 'versatile' nature of my design." He paused for a moment to eye the back of his hand. "Inevitably I get seen as a resource rather than a sentient being. A tool. A thing." Fulgurite lifted his hand up to show Ruby as several of the panels moved and shifted to show the multitudes of tools and complexity of the machinery inside his augment.
"And that doesn't make me feel wanted as a friend or as a comrade or anything else. So, I tend to make my stays temporary and brief, and keep myself busy and distracted with whatever works and projects I can manage to get my hands on. It also allows me the freedom to explore and enjoy more of the world around me, at the cost of a lack of permanence. Though on the other hand, with my decades of work and research, I've made countless adjustments and upgrades to my mechanized parts. So when I finally do find a group that seems like they care more about my well being rather than my services, I shall certainly be willing to call someplace home. As for being a member of the Crystal Gems. I certainly align myself with their cause and fight. I have never actually joined any of their official ranks."
Ruby could tell that the subject had made him uncomfortable, but Ruby wanted Fulgurite to know that he was more than his appearance or form. Fulgurite could be whatever he wanted to be on Earth, anyone could be what they wanted to be on Earth.
"Fulgurite, the Crystal Gems wouldn't do that to you. You can be anything you want to be once you're free of Homeworld. That's what the Crystal Gems are about, freedom. And that's what the humans are about, freedom. That's why I joined the Crystal Gems, to protect the Earth and to fight for our freedom! I hope one day you'll think about joining the Crystal Gems." Ruby said, trying to be careful about making Fulgurite uncomfortable. "But enough of that," Ruby said, trying to do away with the talk of war and freedom. "Are you enjoying the food Fulgurite? The humans sure are crafty aren't they? Hey, is there a place you want to go next? Do you want to see the temple?" Ruby presented several questions to Fulgurite at once, she'd been sitting still to long and was beginning to get restless. Ruby noticed that Fulgurite had stopped eating. "Oh, if you're not hungry there's this neat trick I learned where you can bubble your food!" Ruby exclaimed, excited to share her cool new food trick with Fulgurite. "It's a lot better than the humans re-frige-er-ator's." Ruby sounded out new human word she'd just learned. Humans were so creative!
"It's a lot better than the humans re-frige-er-ator's." *Fulgurite smiles at Ruby's kind words and let out a soft sigh of relief. He took another bite then closed up the box, watching as Ruby got fidgety. He pick the box up and held it too his chest, causing it to be enveloped in a brief flash of light as he stored it inside his gem. "As much as bubbling is an effective means of safetly storing things. Since I do not have somewhere to send it proper, it'd simply be floating around with me. However, storing it my gem will yield the same effect." He stood up from the table, thanked the donut shop employees, and walked to the door. "Come, lets see this temple you seem so excited about." Fulgur heald the door open and waited for Ruby to follow.
Ruby's eyes lit up and she dashed out the door and down the beach. Ruby ran around the mountainside and stopped in front of the temple. It was a rather majestic structure and inside of a small serene cave a group consisting of a permafusion Opal, a sapphire, and a ruby were watching some amethyst soldiers on the beach fighting off a soaking wet corrupted quartz.
"Oh," Ruby said regretfully. "I'm sorry you have to see this, one of the duties that the official Crystal Gems have taken upon themselves is too fight corruption. Right here you can see how the corrupted gem is following muscle memory and trying to get at the warp pad. At least that's what my friend told me, she thinks that they still retain aspects of their former selves, I don't know what to think." Ruby said in a melancholy voice.
"-I don't know what to think." Fulgurite watched as the gems in the temple dealt with the corrupted gem. He almost stepped in to assist but they managed to dispatch and deal with the problem rather quickly. He watched closly as they bubbled the defeated creatures gem away and started making sure one another was okay. "The unfortunate thing about it is how little we know about the corruption. I've tried collecting info about them but everything I've encountered has been conflicting information at every turn. Some patterns would start to form then be thrown at the window with the next batch of intel I could scrounge up. I just simply hope that those poor gems aren't in pain because of their wild state." Fulgurite wrung his hands together nervously, thinking about how unpredictable and nasty the corruption had been. He had to stifle the thoughts of what sort of abomination he would end up being if he got corrupted. Though, part of his mind reminded him that without his augments he's virtually worthless and they wouldn't function on a non standard variant of any Fulgurite.
Ruby grimaced as they poofed the gem despite having poofed several lesser corrupted gems herself. Deciding to carry on with Fulgurite's tour she turned around and gestured to the massive structure behind them.
"Well, here we are!" Ruby exclaimed as she jumped onto a rock and raised her hands to the temple. It was a large sturdy structure in the shape of what one would assume to be a fusion based on the multiple gem placements and the strange design. "The Crystal Temple is where most of the Crystal Gems live, and it's our base of operations." Ruby ran up the beach and into the temple, inside the permafusion opal, and the ruby and sapphire had dispersed leaving the room empty. The amethysts ran past her, grabbed a bag of chaaaps that were laying on the floor, and ran into their room. Ruby stood next to the warp pad and gestured to it. "Despite us having this awesome warp pad, no Homeworld gems have been able to infiltrate our base," Ruby began to speak in a whisper. "The location is secret.." Ruby walked over to the gateway door to all the rooms in the temple and began to speak in normal volume again. "This is the Crystal Gem's gateway to all the different rooms in the temple!" Ruby stuck out her tongue and the ruby gemstone on the gateway glowed as the door to her room opened. Inside the room there was a mess of food scraps covering the floor as a small crystal lizard licked crumbs up, the ceiling was covered with a mess of bubbles containing different food ingredients, a few bubbled gems, and leftovers. The room itself was a small walkway into a large circular platform, surrounded by fire. In the center there was a large cauldron being heated above a pit of fire and inside of the cauldron some soup was boiling. Before the cauldron, their was a small hand switch that Ruby could use to bring up different kitchen configurations, and off to the side of the cauldron there was a small bed with cookie cat bed sheets. "This is my room!" exclaimed Ruby, excited to show her friend. Ruby gasped. "Hey do you want to try and summon your room Fulgurite? It's really fun!" Ruby exclaimed.
"Hey do you want to try and summon your room Fulgurite? It's really fun!" Fulgurite took a moment to admire the design of the temple while waiting for the other gems to clear out. He focused in on the gem placements to try and figure out what possible combination of gems would produce such an astounding figure. Then his mind wondered to why gems would ever have needed to fuse to such a degree. He shuddered at the possibilities before focusing back on Ruby and their boundless excitment. He briefly took in the room within the temple and stopped on the warp pad for a moment. "I have used a great many warp pads in my time, and I'm certainly glad that none have a direct line to Homeworld. That would create far, far more problems then it would fix. As for the room..."
He stpped towards the door and peaked into Ruby's food laden mess and grinned. Seems that the small gem had drastically taken to the cuisine of Earth and center their personal domicile around it as well. "So, I simply stand at the door and allow it to read me? Fascinating. I'd heard about personalized subspace like this before but never seen one personally." Fulgur took a step back and allowed the door to close fully. He took a deep breathe and focus outwards, bridging a connection with the door to begin the process of it creating a space for himself to call his own. His gem began to glow, as did the center of the door. After about a minute both ceased to shine and a a soft yellow light emitted from the center of the door before spreading out across it's surface. It made hundreds of tiny lines which Fulgurite immediately recognized as being mock imagery of ciruit boards. One the door was covered it split into eight pieces and each withdrew in a circle, granting access to the newly formed room.
Fulgurite gasped as he saw what had been created. The room was a giant solid white sphere, with no discernable light scource, but was well lit. Across the center was a giant glass pane that had countless streams of light and lighting coursing through in every direction. In the center of the room was a massive work table, covered in every conceivable hand tool that and engineer or mechanic could every possibly need for both human and gem machine work. Fulgur stepped in to better analyze the tools at his disposal and once he stepped past the threshold, felt a shiver run across his body.
He looked himself over and then quickly flipped through the screen he was able to acess through his eyes to pull up his diagnostics. His mouth was left gapping as he read oger the info it was showing him. "Ruby... This room is a mechanics dream land. It's hermedically sealed and a pressuized vacuum. The door way purges off any contaminants to keep the micro particles that are typically in the air out. This room... Not only has nothing in the air, but stifles built up charge from ambient sources. Meaning no static or electrical interference of any kind can occur with out very, very intentionally doing so."

Ruby practically leaped through the door, she was so excited to see her new friends room! Ruby walked around the space for a minute but ran back over to Fulgurite when he began to speak to her. When Fulgurite started speaking about his 'mechanics dream' Ruby listened intently. She puffed up her face as if it would help her realize the meaning of what he was saying, but to no avail. When Fulgurite stopped speaking Ruby simply looked up at him seriously.
"What? Sorry Fulgurite, you just use really big words!" It was apparent the meaning had been lost on her entirely, but she decided to carry on nonetheless. "Nevermind about all that! What you should really be talking about how cool this place is!" Ruby's eyes lit up as she jumped up to see the work table, decorated with tools. She then tried to get a view of the documents Fulgurite was looking at. "Woah, Fulgurite what're those thingies? They sure look important!" Ruby exclaimed, wildly interested in his work.
"They sure look important!" Fulgurite closer his eyes and chuckled at Ruby's attempts to follow what he had said. "To put it simply, I can do much more work, at a much faster rate with this place. Just need to go out of my way to acquire more table space." Fulgurite looked around the room, realizing that as much at he had every tool he would need, the room lacked any surface space that wasn't coated in tools. "For now. I must thank you kindly for bringing me here. What can I do to pay you back my excitable friend?" As he spoke, Fulgur reached over and patted Ruby on the head. He had seen human do it to one another and it was always reacted to positively, so why not give it a shot.
“I don’t know about that, I’m just happy to have a new friend!” Ruby exclaimed. Ruby then began to examine the space once more, jumping up and down to try and see all the tools. Once she was satisfied she walked back over to Fulgurite. “So, what do you think of the temple Fulgurite? It sure is cool isn’t it?” Ruby said, excited at how cool her new friends room was. With all the cool tools, and how pristine it was, Ruby was truly impressed. The only room she might’ve liked more was her own, not that’d she’d seen many others. Ruby didn’t get to see a ton of the other Crystal Gems, the Amethysts never invited her to hang out, and the others were always on missions. Ruby was happy to have made a new friend.
"It sure is cool isn’t it?” Fulgurite nodded and lightly ran his hand across the tools. "It certainly is. I would give anything to get a look at the field generator of this temple to..." Fulgurite paused and look down at Ruby and realized he was about to go off on a bunch of 'big words' again. "I like it. It'll be nice to have a place to start calling home." Fulgurite looked around the stark white room and the pulsating glow of the floor and felt at ease, enjoying the simplicity of everything. "So, what else shall we do with our day my friend?" He took a couple steps towards the door, figuring the initial draw of a new room would fade quickly since there was nothing to do with it at the present moment.

Ruby thought for a moment. She had gotten some food with Fulgurite, but Fulgurite hadn't eaten it all, and then she showed Fulgurite the temple and he had decided to stay, what else was their to do? Ruby thought for another moment and remembered that Fulgurite had asked what he could do to pay her back. Ruby knew what she wanted to do. "Come on Fulgurite!" Ruby exclaimed. Ruby dashed out of the room and tripped over a lizard before opening her own room and running inside. She looked up at the ceiling and when she saw what she needed she leaped up, grabbing onto bubbles to help keep her up. For a moment Ruby disappeared into the mess of bubbles before falling down again. Ruby landed on her butt holding a box-like gaming system with the word 'Sumy' written on the side, Ruby leaped to her feet and held the bubble above her head. "Can you fix this?" Ruby asked hopefully, she had accidentally gotten some chocolate on it a few years ago and the crystal lizard tried to eat it. She hadn't been able to use it or any of her games since.
"Can you fix this?" Fulgurite watched as Ruby dove into their collection of bubbles before dropping back in front of him holding a bubbled gaming console. He eyed it curiously and took the bubble from Ruby, popping to to get a hold of the console proper. He rolled it over in his hands and scanned the machine thoroughly. "This should be no problem at all. Just need a good cleaning, a bit of patching on the case itself, and some fresh soldering to get this back up and running. Come, lets test out my new tools." Fulgur lead Ruby back out of their room, focused on the temple door once again, and stepped into his chamber. He stepped towards the table, silently over joyed at having so many tools at his disposal. He slowly circled the massive circular table and picked out a few tools before stopping back where he started.
With all of his tool clutched in his mechanical hand, several of the panels opened up and small mechanical tendrils gripped the tools. He hled the console in his right hand while the multitudes of tendrils and tool started peeling the console apart, thoroughly brushing out the spilled chocolate, and making quick work of the soldering the damaged connections from almost being eaten by a lizard. While the internal board was being repaired, the outside case was polished and the punctures filled in and smoothed out, making it almost brand new looking. All the while Fulgurite stared intently at the entire process, controlling everything that was happening like it was nothing. Almost as quickly as he had taken the console apart, he closed back up and fully reassembled. Walking around the table again, he put every tool he had grabbed back in its place before stopping in front of Ruby, presenting them with the fully refurbished console. "And I believe this is yours."
"Woah!" Ruby's eyes lit up as she watched Fulgurite work. "That's so cool! It's just like cooking!" Ruby exclaimed. "You put in all the ingredients and then cook them! Or in this case, connect them?" Ruby was said, still trying to follow along with what Fulgurite was doing. Engineering was very confusing to her. Fulgurite handed the console back to her. "Wow! Thank you so much!" Ruby dashed back to her room, assuming Fulgurite was behind her. Ruby set down the console and leaped up into the bubbles again. She reappeared sitting on top of a large television screen inside of a bubble. She carried it over next to her bed and popped it. The television screen fell to the ground with a loud crash and the lizard scampered off. Well, the television screen was a little bruised up it looked as though it would still function properly. Ruby dashed over to her hand switch and pressed a button, behind her television a electrical outlet popped out of the wall. Ruby plugged the television screen in, and then plugged the Sumy into the television. Ruby jumped up into the mess of bubbles again, and this time landed with a bag of video games and four controllers, which she popped and set next to her Sumy. "Thank you so much Fulgurite! You're awesome!" Ruby ran over to Fulgurite and gave him a hug around his legs, as she wasn't quite tall enough to grab onto his torso.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
