Name: Emerald
Appeared Gender: Female
Appeared Age: Early 20’s
Gemstone: Emerald
Gemstone Location: Top of chest, under her neck.Maximum of 3
Faction: Crystal Gems
Corrupted: No
Appearance: (Image not yet ready)
Emerald typically wears a pale green dress that is nearly white. She has long hair that covers one eye, and would be considered unnaturally beautiful by human standards. She wears flats on her feet and has a ribbon tied around her waist. She is tall, standing at 6’4” but this is a common height among her gem type. Despite her slender physique, Emerald’s physical strength rivals a quartz. Emerald often would wrestle her subordinates between missions.
Personality: Emerald is very calm and cheerful. Around other gems she likes to do spontaneous fun activities. No matter what she’s up to, Emerald seems to do so with a calm gracefulness. She is friendly to her allies, but rarely gets close to anyone, even gems she’s known for years. Even among gems she knows well, Emerald can be a little aloof. When she’s fighting homeworld gems Emerald uses her powers to manipulate enemies and prefers to avoid a conflict as much as possible. Some of her methods of manipulation disturb Crystal Gems, but Emerald insists that she’s only doing what is needed.

Weapon: Whip Emerald fights with a weapon that resembles a spine. She says that she modeled her weapon after human spines because she is ‘fighting for humans’ but many gems are disturbed by it. This whip can coil and bend based off of her wrist movements, serving as a poor shield when needed. It is 5 feet long when extended.
Abilities:
Passwall: Emerald can pass through solid spaces as if she were a ghost. Over the span of one post Emerald can pass through surfaces that she wishes to pass through. She can choose which surfaces to pass through, choosing not to fall through the floor for example. This ability requires a two post cooldown. If Emerald stops using passwall while inside of a wall, she doesn't just return to normal, instead she becomes trapped inside of it until she next activates the ability. Emerald’s ability doesn’t allow her to phase through the weapons of other gems, or destabilizers/destabilization fields. Consequently she has the ability to hit gems with her weapon using this ability.
Landmine: Emerald can produce 12-inch diameter disks from her gem. These disks can be turned invisible. When another gem touches Emerald’s disk a replica of her spine weapon bursts out and moves at her control for 1 post. Emerald can produce 3 of these disks at a time with a 5 post cooldown. The locations of these disks are described in a hidden part of the post where they are used to prevent meta from both sides.

History:
Emerald was, like other Emeralds, a leader. She led a group of ten quartz soldiers on a starship and specialized in espionage. Soon, Emerald’s love for leadership went to her head. She started to loathe being lorded over by her own superiors, and tried to perform her best to gain respect. Emerald soon learned that she was destined to always have superiors, and that nothing she could do would save her from this caste-based society.
Emerald started to deviate, tampering with injectors to create off-colors, and turning gems against each other. At one point she accidentally fused with an amethyst in her squad. A ruby reported her disgusting new trick to the guards and Emerald fled homeworld, stealing a starship. Her Amethyst friend, as she discovered later by hacking into homeworld files, had been harvested. Emerald made her way to pink diamond’s crazy colony, in hope of joining this Rose Quartz.
Among the Crystal Gems, Emerald was very kind, being grateful to be among gems who valued freedom as much as she did. The one thing that the Crystal Gems did not like about Emerald was her tendency to use brutal manipulation and surprise attacks to deal with homeworld gems. In spite of this, Emerald has proven as useful as any Crystal Gem, and has taken time to enjoy her new freedom.
Character Arcs:
-Inevitably having to deal with leaders among the Crystal Gems as the war escalates.
-Encounters with off colors who she created on homeworld.
-Conflict with homeworld gems
-Learning to use less cruel methods than manipulation when among Crystal Gems.
-Leading other homeworld gems away from their strict society.
