Name:Jade
Appeared age: mid-twenties
Appeared gender: female
Gemstone: A large, domed pentagon of green. the sides are angled and faceted, but the front is polished to the point of looking like a mirror. Within, several different shades of green are visible. In sunlight, the gem seems more opaque.
Gemstone location: Set high on her forehead, roughly at the level of her hairline. While its size generally keeps it from being obscured, Jade's hair occasionally ends up covering some of it.
Corrupted:As if.
Appearance: Of average height, (around 5'7") Jade is slender and athletically built. With almost nothing in the way of a bust, most of the slight bulk she has rests in her muscular rear and thighs. She wears her straight, glossy hair long (down to her butt) and it is styled in what some humans might recognize as a "cleopatra". While it is in fact a very dark shade of green, it appears black in dim lighting. Jade's outfit consists of a large, egyptian-style necklace that covers most of her chest, a short-sleaved white crop-top, green-grey short-shorts, and olive hikers on her feet, along with a pair of intricately embossed bracelets on her wrists, matching the style of her elaborate necklace. Over all that is a white lab-coat, hanging to Jade's ankles, frequently acting as a sort of cloak.
Jade's skin is a darker, duller shade of green than her gem, and her eyes are a surprisingly bright silver-green. Her nose is angled in the middle of the bridge, giving it a roman or eastern-european look. Her lips are the same green-black as her hair. The gem's face is as sleek and chiseled as her body; high cheekbones and slender, somewhat angled eyebrows frame slanted almond eyes, giving her an exotic look.
Personality: Jade is, first and formost, an explorer. But she does not just explore places.... Oh no. Jade explores concepts, people, animals, and virtually anything that can be broken down and explained using tools, logic, her own body, or some combination thereof. The Gem regards nearly everything and everyone, including things and people that can kill her, with a sense of adventure and curiosity. She seeks understanding. Constantly. That has given rise to the assumption that she has some sort of mental disorder, given that she seems incapable of NOT doing something....... Jade never rests or relaxes. The concept of "downtime" is utterly foreign to her. Those who talk to her often find themselves biting off more than they can chew.... One of the few things that makes Jade as happy as doing science is TALKING about science. Adnauseum. For hours. Sometimes days...... Some think the eccentric gem is crazy. While they might be right- sanity, by Jade's own admission, is a flexile and subjective thing, unique in quantity and nature to each individual who possesses it. Jade isn't loony so much as way too enthusiastic about her life's work. Said work being knowledge, Jade is perfectly content to be stranded on Earth for the moment. The planet is host to a treasure-trove of organic species, geological phenomenon, native cultural and political interactions, and chemical/molecular curiosities. It's enough to satisfy Jade's curiousity for centuries...... While certainly a bit obsessed, Jade is not quite as one-track as many think, if you take the time to get to know her. The Gem is more than her obsession; she has a goofy sense of humor, a love for creating things that others can enjoy, an appreciation for classical music, a taste for parties and people, and a longing to be accepted by her fellow Gems...... Unlike many, who regard humans as interesting native animals who can talk, Jade is fascinated by Earth's many cultures, traditions, and peoples.
Likes/dislikes:
Likes:New things, people, people who listen to her rants, interesting environments, watching others interact, asking people questions, experimenting with pretty much everything, information of any sort, fidning order in existing information or connecting new discoveries to form order.
Dilikes: Not doing anything, boring people, disorder, entropy, un-necessary violence or destruction.
Fears:That death is the end of awareness, being stuck in one place, doing one thing, stasis.
Weapon: A pair of giant, interlocking rings, Jade's weapon is one of the most peculiar out there. Rather appropriate when her eccentric personality is taken into account..... The rings form a sort of axis, and rotate upon oneanother. Their edges are toothed, like gears, and very sharp. Jade uses them primarily for the purpose of locomotion, sitting within them and turning them rapidly in order to move from one place to another quickly. However, when threatened, Jade can use them in a variety of offensive and defensive ways, rushing at opponents to mow them under and crush/shred them beneath the ring's whirring, razor-sharp undersides, seperating them and tossing them like massive, deadly frizbies, or even spinning with a ring gripped in each hand, the rings themselves spinning, the Gem and her weapons forming a deadly, bladed top. She can even whirl them rapidly in place while within to form a makeshift shield.
Ability 1: Jade can manifest hard-light copies of herself in her immediate area. Extensions of herself, these duplicates are generally non-sentient automatons, though most can speak. Jade typically devotes them to one task in particular. For example, if she were at an interesting archaeological site, she might manifest another dozen Jades to help her dig. These Jades would continue in their task unless disrupted, at which point they would do their best to get BACK to continuing their task. While some may be embued with more intelligence and life than others, few are capable of doing more than making basic conversation or responding to simple directions and commands, usually from Jade herself. These copies are not as durable as a real Gem, and would shatter into nothing if struck hard enough by another Gem more than a few times. Despite this, they are viable fighters, as they can manifest ghostly copies of Jade's weapons, though they themselves cannot spawn duplicates. At certain times, when the situation demands, Jade may spawn a singular, more advanced copy of herself. Said doppleganger, while still limited, carries a portion of Jade's bombastic personality and prodigious intelligence, though it is still somewhat one-track, and carries the same physical limitations as the mass-produced Jade clones. Jade would never say it, but she doesn't really like making that type of copy.... It feels... Wrong. Irresponsible, in a way. She generally sticks to facsimiles devoid of sentience.....
Ability 2: Jade has an advanced understanding of technology. Be it the construction of robotic chassis, programming, etc..... The Gem has an eerie and savant-like knack for putting together, understanding, deconstructing, and manipulating anything with moving parts, programming, or circuitry. Some consider the Gem's ability to make pretty much anything she needs out of what she has at hand downright spooky. Others consider it an impressive but natural byproduct of her know-how and intelligence. Those people generally haven't seen her turn a microwave and a bag of cat-food into an electron-microscope.....
Fusions: Jade has fused with others in the past, but none of those individuals are currently on Earth.... She regards Fusion with a mix of interest and trepidation....
Bio: Created long ago to act as a scout and explore new worlds, Jade eventually outgrew her original purpose and arose to prominence amongst the Gems' scientific community after making several interesting discoveries on the nature of Fusion and the use and formation of energy-constructs. The newfound adulation was short-lived. Jade's eccentricity and inability to follow orders soon overshadowed her usefulness as a scientist, and she was court-marshalled for multiple instances of insubordination and reckless behavior. Still, Despite this, Homeworld knew better than to throw away a useful tool..... Jade was sent to Earth to study the world and its contents. It kept her productive, and it kept her out of Homeworld's hair....... Until a more proper use could be thought of for her. Oblivious as ever to political machinations, Jade was simply happy to no longer have a metaphorical boot on her back. She's been roaming Earth since then. The disappearance of the Crystal Gems and the advent of corruption have both caught her attention and drawn her to Beach city. Such interesting phenomenon cannot go unexplored and unexplained, regardless of risk.....
