Gaspeite was shocked at the amount of money Chip just took out for this. Did he even need her help? Well, at least she hoped he would still let her check what was inside. After all, she didn't have enough money to outbid for any trunks, so that was her only call. But, Chip was still positive about kind of sharing what was inside, so that helps. When the trunk got put aside, she would rightfully let Chip open the thing by himself, after all he was the one who won it for them.
She knew how Chip was, well, kinda, and so tried to keep "I hope there are books, because I really enjoy human litterature! Chip, you've clearly won all of it, I don't mean to force you but would you still let me take a look with you? She also meant to ask about taking something if it's interesting and he allows her, but it would be dragging the thing too long, and it is clearly annoying.

The chest looked quite full of stuff and Chip had no idea what was inside. But there was time to find out. The Fusion came to him and in fact Chip had no problem with sharing whatever was inside.
"Minor details... let's check what is inside. There should be some things that has to do with the history of Empire city... and as a protector or Empire city I have to protect it's history too! The rest of the stuff doesn't interest me much. But we will see. I'm sure we will divide it somehow..."
He said. There will probably be a lot of trinkets and other useless stuff. Chip will be lucky if there is something interesting at all. But it did belong to some... guy, Chip totally forgot his name, that was important to the city's past...
Out in the room things were beginning to bubble again, the auctioneer was back at his podium and was introducing another chest in the background, the bids had started out low but now hovered around some amounts much more sensible and civilized than what had been seen previously with the first chest.
".. Ladies and gentlemen, the bid stands at 500.00 thats five-hundreds, do I see six?"
Off to the side behind some cloth partitions, a few eager and curious gems were gathered around the open lid of a trunk, gilded in brass with heavy latches and thick old cracked leather straps, and departing around the corner was a locksmith who ad ever so gently jimmied open the lock, so that the chest itself, which was a valuable antique, would not be damaged.
Hands now sifted through the contents of the trunk, a fine dusty smell hanging like an insense aura in the air immmediately around them. Piece by piece, various treasures.. and not-so-treasures were removed from the trunk.
First a collection of rolled up maps that marked the boundaries of old properties, as well as diagrams for tunnels, storm sewers and other archaic infrastructure beneath the surface of the city that was likely long forgoten, but still intact.
Next a roll of old clothes, typical to a wealthy gentleman of the time period, including a rather marvelous walking cane, of laquered black ebony, fitted with a sterling silver handle, cast in the likeness of a lunging fox, with mother of pearl inlay along its body, giving the impression of texture to the coat, doubtless a very unique and tasteful item as well..
The items continued to be removed one by one... a pocket watch in a case.. an old time shaving kit complete with brush and straight razor.. even a few leather bound journals and scrap books.. but, mid way though the pile there was another bundle, also about the size of a book, albeit a large one. Near phone book size by today's standards, and it is bound up in a dusty velvet cloth that looked like it had once been extreme finery, a vivid burgandy perhaps. Seen as a large bump beneath the cloth surface is a smooth round shape, perhaps about the size of a mandrin orange. Various other ~bookly~ furniture can be felt as well, such as two heavy metal clasps to keep the thick covers of the book shut, a reinforced spine and more.. but it's true appearance lies hidden under the cloth. The pair of hands reaching for it in unison might feel an odd almost static like humm.. or perhaps a bit of a sensation on the back of their minds as their touch-stumps make contatc with the velvet shroud..

Gaspeite was nearly... frozen in place.
She was quite happy but didn't know half of these were about. What he cared about were books, and that thing at the very bottom of the box... It was another book! Although, when she would reach for it with her hand, she felt a particularly familiar tingle at the tip of her "touch-stumps". There was an uncanny feeling raising up inside her, was this book of gem origin? It must be, the feeling coming off of it could only be that. Now, how could a human have been in posession of a gem artifact, it's not like they were given out or something, right?
"This is rather strange, I... I think you should open it, a very uncomfortable feeling is emanating off of this book... "
Gaspeite just thought... if this is gem magic, but if the item is bearing a bump on it's surface... When Chip would have been uncovering the book, Gaspeite only then remembered another way of creating a gem artifact...
Howlite wasn't backing down. "15 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!" He loudly declared. He knew no one would top that. He had to make an example. If those stuck up humans thought they could best him they had another thing coming. Howlite was the new top dog and he was intent on proving it. That chest would be his one way or another. "Let's see those monkeys in ties best that! We're gonna get that chest Titanite. I can feel it!" He started to dream about what he may find in there. It could be anything. Maybe something along with the Scotch. Perhaps something he could put in his home as decoration.
Titanite couldn't help but grin at hearing such an obscene bid coming from Howlite. It seemed that he had no intentions of losing this chest to another bidder, even if the initial bid was a bit excessive.
"We've got this in the bag for sure, I doubt any of those humans are going to be willing to outbid something like that!"
It was unusual, the thought of winning this silly auction thing, Titanite was quite excited. A feeling he thought he'd never have to something like a human activity. Either way, he was confident that this bid was going to win hands down. He doubted that the other humans, even if they had the money, were going to even try to outbid that offer.
Emerald had come to the auction just because she had heard of the books of the old owner had. She looked down in her bag counting the money that she had. She had been on earth for quiet a while, and had done a lot of help in different places. They all paid her for what she has done, but she never used the money not sure what it did really. She bit her lip thinking a little before clearing her throat. "Sixteen thousand dollars." She looked down at her shoes when she felt all the stares but did not with draw her offer. She looked up when she felt someone glaring at her tilting her head when she saw another gem. She walked over slowly to him. "Look I don't know why you want that chest, but I only want to see if it has any books on earth plants on here. If you let me win I will give you the rest of the chest."

There were quite a lot of stuff inside, just as Chip expected, something was interesting, some of it wasn't... though Chip was quite sure that Morion will be happy about some ancient walking cane. Sure, it wasn't that good for poofing Sulfur, but it was old and historical, and Morion like stuff like that...
There were some books and trinkets... nothing worth of exploring right now, but there was this one book... it felt... funny. There was definitely something fishy about it. Chip just grabbed it, took it out and opened it. He was too curious to be careful.
"OK, opened... now let's look why is it so... weird."
He was careful though, the book was old and he didn't want to damage it...
The auctioneer in the meantime stood there flabergasted at the the bids. To jump from a bid of five-hundred to fifteen-thousand was well.. insane, and a glance over at the revived curator, revealed he was making a slashing motion across his neck, signalling the Autioneer to wrap it up, because he knew it would be better to surrender the remaining two trunks for the price of 15,000 than to hope for even half that on the remaining chests, if the bids were left to to other patrons..
"Good gracious, Good Gracious me indeed, you sir in the back, in light of this .. umm mum mum.. tremedous escalation, this establishment, with the conscent of the curator.. has decided to award you the remaining two mystery trunks, congratuations on your umm mum um.. acquasitions! Ladies and gentlemen, this concludes our evening's events, please feel free to mingle for a few moments more, however we will be closing down rather soon. Thank you!"
The remaining two chests are wheeled back to Titanite and Howlite respectively on dollies with squeaky wheels, however the contents are still mysteries..
(At this point I am quite willing to let Howlite and Titanite unlock their chests and dictate what they find inside. Maybe it's treasure or valuable artifacts, maybe its old bedsheets and pajamas, who knows!)
Chip's reflection glistened in the smooth shining surface of the object embedded in the cover of the book. It seemed to react somewhat in Chip's hands, the binding clasps of the book springing open, and the book folding wide in his grasp. Inside on the pages, the ink of the words seems to be melting, shifting, switching and swapping. What could be doing this??
Bit by bit the words on the page jumble and swap, almost like making a collage out of snippits of magazine and news paper articles, but slowly a half coherent message is forming on the gilded pages....

Gaspeite was shocked at how oblivious Chip was at what is just infront of both of them... She read those lines and in a human heartbeat- "Chip, give this to me right now!" Gaspeite would take the book right from Chip's hands. She couldn't stay with that uncomfortable feeling which laid heavily on her consciousness. [What are you doing, Chip is going to- "Shut up, Peri! Look, damn it!]
Gaspeite closed the book, showering the area with a good bit of dust. She then looked at the front and as she saw the cover, her face genuinely turned from her usual yellow to a blank white color.
"This is a gem-powered artifact! The human said year 1800, this must mean this gem has been stuck here for... two centuries?! How did it end up bound to this book? And oh, look how poorly the recipient was made, humans have no respect! I must free it from this."
Gaspeite then held the book sensibly so it wouldn't rip, but good enough a grip with both lower arms to be able to hold on to the gem too with her right upper hand. Again sensibly, she would use a good bit of force to remove the gem from the poorly made receptacle which was holding the gem.

Chip looked puzzled for a moment, when the fusion took the book from him.
"Yeah, it is a gem powered artefact... but it's mine... I bought it... so please, give it back..."
He said, before Gespeite tried to free the gem right here and now. That was a bad idea... bad idea that Chip was going to stop right now! "Don't touch it damn it! If this gem was rapped there for so long, she can wait an hour or two... what if she's crazy? And start killing humans around, he? I will have my human pearl take this things to M tower... and we will take the book somewhere safe... we can release the gem there... "
This place was full of humans... releasing gems right here was a bad idea... really bad idea...

Gaspeite was slightly tormented that Chip stopped her like that, but Vesuvianite should have listened to Peridot before taking control so abruptly, Chip was right, this would be way too dangerous, even, though the both couldn't feel right while knowing this gem was stuck there... the gemstone is one of a Pearl but even though it could just have become crazy.
"You're right but... let's go, and we don't need a human Pearl to carry this, I'll do it myself. It will be much faster. Now, do you call a car thing, so we can go to Morion's tower faster?
Gaspeite went ahead and carefully put the items back in the trunk, since they had seen everything, and closed the trunk. She was very abrupt and she knew that, but it happened once in a while, Vesuvianite has a bad habit of putting too much will into their actions. She then took the trunk to carry under her arm and waited for Chip so they could move.
Inside her own mind Plum floated in a near sleep like haze. She didn't know how long she had been there, or quite what was going on. If one were to put it to words, it feld rather akin to being stuck in a neverending state of trying to come out from General Anestesia...so confuesd so muddled, so consumed with the warring desires to wake as well as remain asleep. Perhaps it was best that it had been this way, because if she had been fully conscious for the more than two centuries she had spent bound to the cover of that Grimoire, she would have likely lost her mind entirely.
But there she remained, the mental image of herself, floating in a fetal position in the smokey black haze of her own mind, coupled with the binding spell and the ring of gem-metal that was stitched and glued with an alchemic resin.
Her senses were byond severely hampered by this prison, but some restless part of her mind was aware that she was... moving.. shifting.. being handled? For the first time in a long time anyway. But was it even real?

Chip still had to talk with his human pearl, he bought several other items, that needed to be transported safely to M tower. Especially the statue... and it had to be handled carefully since those were unique and old artefacts. Damaging them would be really terrible...
"I don't need to call a car, since there is one waiting outside... well two of them, one is a big van to move the things I bought... the other is for me... so put the chest in the van outside please and give me the book... then we can go to find a warp pad... I know about a safe place..."
He said. He had everything planned already. It was mostly improvised though.
"And please, behave... we are still among humans..."
Howlite opened the chest. "And to the victor goes the spoils." He started rummaging through it when he held up some kind of cloth. It resembled human clothing...Sort of. "What in the name of stars is this? I think it's clothes but.... What kind?" He put it away for now. Then he saw a bottle. He picked it up. Scotch? He smelled it. "Amontillado! You can't even find these anymore! Whoever owned this had good taste. I'm gonna enjoy this." He then looked back at Titanite. "You grab what you want. I just want this." Then he had an idea. He scanned the crowd for his competitor. He owed him gratitude. He then picked up his signature and approached the gem. "Hey. Just wanted to thank you. If not for you I wouldn't of scored my Amontillado. Name's Howlite."
Melody: "The fight system of this site is really Ehh..." Well... how would you improve it? ^^

Flurry: I think that theres not much that can be done in just, regular rps, I think before a fight both sides should agree to do it, and decide the winner based on logic, because otherwise we're doing this "Hey im really cool" thing that goes back and forth
Oct 14, 2019 19:51:03 GMT
Flurry: I made Flurry cause id rather have a support/non fighting character anyway
Oct 14, 2019 19:51:31 GMT
Chip the Fire Opal: I have Chip who is a killing machine... and Sapphire who couldn't fight a broom
Oct 14, 2019 19:58:03 GMT
Flurry: Ive got Sulfur who impales people with a lot of swords, and Flurry who cant even heal people without being on the verge of collapse

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
Orginal Opening Plot Here Thread That Changed Everything
Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption" is being treated like a virus due to lack of info about it on the show.
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
