The water pulled at her blouse and hair, weighing her down so much that she felt like she could just be absorbed by the planet itself at any moment. The waves were gentle, however, flowing forward and receding back again like it was the most natural thing in the world. The small blue girl clutched at the sand with lean fingers, gouging deep scars into the ground as she dragged herself out of the ocean and onto the warm shore. Although she could breathe underwater just fine, she personally found it much more peaceful if the crushing weight of the ocean wasn't pressing down on her shoulders at all times.
Chal let out a weary sigh, turning over on her back and flopping back down onto the beach. Her pale yellow eyes squinted at first, then adjusted to the light as she watched the white, puffy clouds amble across the sky above. A faint smile crept onto her face; after all the things she'd been through, she was finally getting some peace and quiet. Chalcedony's fingers weaved themselves through the grains of sand, just feeling them. This planet was alive, it was beautiful, and it was everything she'd ever hoped for. She reached up, brushing her wavy bangs out of her face in one fluid motion, water droplets slinging away from her face. She was completely drenched with water and it was still reaching for her, the waves lapping at her feet, but she didn't care. It, combined with the warm sun on her face, was calming.
Suddenly a throng of emotions crashed over her like a wave breaking over her body. Fatigue, stress, pain, fear, loneliness, everything she'd experienced in the past few days, or was it...years? The girl squeezed her eyes shut just as the tears came. She sat up, burying her face in her sandy hands as her body wracked with hoarse sobs. What a way to start a new life on Earth, crying on a beach.
