In some dingy back-ally of the town, a gruff muscular man carrying can full of garbage opens the backdoor of some restaurant. He man mummers something under his breath as he holds the dumpster lid behind the building as much as he is able. Then he shimmies the refuse into the dumpster, making a clanging noise as it falls on top of the other layers of garbage already present. The man mutters something else as he takes his garbage can with him back into the establishment, locking the door behind him once he is inside. From out of the shadows, Pallasite levitates herself in front of the dumpsters, her eye searching around herself for any others who happen to be out lucking in these alleyways. Seeing no other beings in the immediate area, Pallasite looks to the dumpster, flicking the fingers on her right hand in a quick gesture, observed as the metal lid of the dumpster suddenly snaps wide open. Pallasite through scans the contents of this waste container, searching for anything that might interest her. Sure enough, spots something. She reaches her right hand into the dumpster and pulls out a freshly peeled banana peel. Pallasite blinks as she hold the peel in front of her, dangles it about in her hands for moment, then places the banana peel on top of her head, wearing it like a hat. The gem appears, momentary pleased with her discovery, then proceeds to search the dumpster for any futher objects of interest to the strange gem, her wandering eye darting in nearly every direction as she searches.
Agate was walking down the boardwalk as usual, however today was special! The gem wore a bag strapped to his back, and an odd hat on his head. Humans called it a 'flat cap' something Agate had only recently discovered. Today was his 'day off' as it were. No more greeting new gems for the day, just some good old fashioned relaxing as he knew how. Dumpster diving! He noticed humans tend to throw out such interesting trinkets, things that were perfectly fine for a collection. Already his bag had a few items inside, but he was looking for a particular set of trash bins. For today was a magic day, a day that forever lived in his memory. The weekly human tradition known as, 'trash day'. All the stores would be dumping out their old bobbles today, and he was determined to collect the finest selection of them!
He found his way down an alley way, searching for some of the larger bins that were typically hidden behind the town's structures. Many of them were still empty, perhaps he was a little early today. He had been excited to get an early start on today's scavenger hunt. However, as he was about to turn a corner, he noticed a familiar floating fusion just ahead of him. He adjusted his hat, smile widening on his face, and began his way towards her. He stopped a few feet away, now noticing the empty banana skin she was masquerading as a hat. It took all his will not to burst out laughing then, eventually speaking up with his finest Pallasite impression, "Salutations superb fusion friend of mine! Highest exemplary feeling to greet you this magnificent day! I trust you are most... feeling... er..." He had difficulty thinking of words to piece together, "Haha, nice to see you again Pallas. Don't mind the impression, 'imitation is flattery' after all. So, it appears we have similar goals this fine day."
He jingled his bag, multiple items audibly jingling inside, "I forgot you were another collector of human artifacts. It's nice to see someone with a similar hobby. Perhaps you'd like to see some of my latest findings? I'm most proud of... this!" He reached in and pulled out an oddly multi-colored cube made of smaller cubes. It appeared to have six different colors, and he demonstrated it was made of multiple layers of interchangeable and shifting cubes within the cube. "It appears to be some sort of code device, used to keep some sort of interior compartment locked. And the only word on the machine is 'Rubix' An interesting piece indeed." He allowed her to examine it if she so wished, then placed it back in his bag. "So, any good finds so far? Besides that most stylish hat of yours, of course." After any sort of presentation he stepped up to examine the dumpster. "Hmm... you know, I bet we could cover a lot of trash if we worked together..." He looked up at her, eyes practically glowing, "So, how about it? Dumper Buddies?!" He offered his hand, smile beaming wide.
Pallasite entire body seems to freeze as she hovers in place. Her head jerks in an unnatural fashion towards Agate. As she looks at him, she tilts her head and blinks. Upon recognizing the gem, Pallasite gives the gem a faint smile. The rest of her body pivots in place to now face Agate. Her head straightens itself and holds both of her hands together as she continues to levitate in front of the dumpster.
"Greetings gratuitous." states the fusion in a plain but pleasant voice.
She couldn't quite understand what Agate meant by his imitation as she was clueless as to who or what he was imitating. Regardless, she didn't figure to inquire about the subject as she let Agate continue to speak as Pallasite appeared to exhibit interest in this rubix cube.
"Interconnected, interlocking half dozen-chroma hexahedron of interchanging designated as... Rubiv? Intrigued most sincerely." states the gem fusion as she floats up to Agate as she bends her body to bring her head near the mysterious cube for a closer inspection.
When asked about her own finds earlier today, her pupil darts from the cube to look up at Agate. Her pupil moves from Agate to the cube then back to Agate once again.
"Mmmhhmmmmmmm..." hums the fusion as she straitens her body and pulls something from one of her oversized sleeves. And with the the widest wide as she can manage, Pallasite pulls out what looks to be a pink plastic bendy straw.
"Bedazzle!" exclaims Pallasite excitedly as she holds out the bendy to Agate.
"Tubular polymer accompanying pivotal bellows anglement ajustor! Purpose: transference of liquid solvents from container to human's orifice to main to which utilized for equilibrium of liquidious pressures! Unobserved in paled carmine hue until this 2.6 percent of geosphere axial rotation!" cheers Pallasite quite happily as she smiles widely and closes her single eye shut as she waves the pink straw in front of Agate's face still.
((Apologies for the lateness... I... kinda forgot to check the past couple of days >.<))
Agate paused for a few moments, he forgot how hard it was to decipher her phrasing. Indeed he didn't remember much from that night, but that was beside the point. Not skipping a beat, despite Pallas' apparent misunderstanding of his impression, he began to climb the dumpster to get a better look inside. He scanned the insides for a moment before Pallasite excitedly withdrew a 'Tubular polymer accompanying pivotal...' A straw. She held out a pink straw for him to examine, which he did so politely. Indeed she was far more interested in the simple object than he was. It reminded Agate of himself actually, back when he first found human culture. The thought alone brought a bigger smile to his face, making an effort to seem interested in the straw, "Excellent! Most interesting indeed, I have seen multiple humans using such a device. Such an interesting utensil."
He turned again to the dumpster, "Now I do believe we have some more searching to do my dear, floating friend. Many more treasures to be found!" The hat on his head poofed as he bent over the side to get a view of the trash. He looked up at Pallasite again, "You know, we could do this the hard way by sifting through it all like this. Or..." He leaned over again, however this time he let himself fall forward into the dumpster. With him came a loud BANG! as the lid slammed down shortly afterwards.
Inside the dumpster one could hear items shifting around, glass hitting glass and metal banging around. After a couple minutes the lid opened back up suddenly as Agate reemerged, "Huzzah! A treasure has been found among the trash!" The gem tumbled out of the dumpster, holding something close to his chest. He looked at himself, noticing he was covered in various pieces of trash, and grimaced slightly. However, with a quick shake and some force, he was mostly clean of residue. Once clean he returned his attention to Pallasite, holding out a book of sorts, "Behold! A collection of papers able to transfer knowledge between the reader on creator!" On the front were pictures of colorful, flat, abstract paper animals with the title "Origami: A beginners guide". He turned around so they could both view it as he flipped through some of the pages, each detailing how to create the shape of a native animal with other pieces of paper.
Eventually an idea struck him, "Feel free to look yourself, I want to try something..." he sat down with the book and ripped a page out, beginning to fold it in multiple locations. After a few attempts he stood back up, "Success, I have learned the secrets of this tome! Behold!" He stretched out his hand to Pallasite to reveal what appeared to be a figure resembling a crab or similar creature in paper form. He offered it to her, "If you wish you may keep this trophy. I think this book will be coming with me..." He stuffed the book away into his pack and looked around, "You know there are many other cans full of little treasures around here. Perhaps we try another venue, hm?" A similar hat as before popped onto his head, as he offered to lead the way.
Pallasite's face is practically glowing as she sincerely believed that Agate found the straw as fascinating and interesting as she thought it was. Sure she has seen previous examples of such a straw but never one with a pink coloration! To her it was quite a find. She then slips the straw back up her sleeve as she observes Agate literally dive into the dumpster, rummaging about before popping out like a gopher as he shows her a book on the art of origami.
"Oh, interest." speaks Pallasite who seems intrigued by the book's contents.
She settles to look over Agate's shoulder as he begins to work on his origami masterpiece, her single eye continuously moving back from the open pages in the book and the piece of paper being delicately folded. As Agate holds up the paper crab... thing out to show, Pallasite holds out her hands and claps as if she was lethargic sea lion, her eye locked onto the folded paper object still.
"Oh!?"cries out Pallasite in a curious manner as Agate offers the paper crab to her, to which she quickly snatches away from him and holds it out excitedly
"Phantasmal! Holdings safes the abstract folded statuette!" exclaims Pallasite as she carefully shoves the given gift up one of her sleeves as she seemed quite eager to add it to her own collection back where she lives.
After the orgami crab is safely tucked away, she looks Agate, considers his proposal, then nods her head once in agree.
"Confirmed, unbury treasures delightfuls among that considered refuse. Proceeded... with merryment!" she states cheerfully as she spins in place and proceeds to hover her way out of the allyway and onto the main streets, her eye seems to rotate in every direction as she seems to search the area for the where the two will scrounge for treasures next.
Agate adjusted the strap of his bag, took a look around, then began to head out of the alley way. Using a hand to block the now risen sun he examined the prospects of treasure. "Now, we could spend all day rooting through dumpsters, or we can do this the smart way. My dear fusion friend I'll let you in on a secret of mine, a special place of special treasures." He motioned Pallasite forward, leading the way forward. Indeed he led the way to the back of a 'nick-knack' store, a human building that sold trinkets to people from out of town. It was a nice enough place, located right on the boardwalk with a perfect view of the beach. Perfect for snagging tourists walking about in the summer.
He went around the back to a large bin, rubbing his hands together, "I usually save the best for last but we can make an exception just this once... BEHOLD!" As he spoke he lifted the lid up to reveal a mess of various trinkets and cheap toys. Many of them were broken, and the few surviving ones were defective in some form. "For some reason humans get upset when their bobbles deviate from the default. Those they deem 'defective' are suppose to be sent back to wherever they come from. However the owner of the shop seems to prefer just trashing the items. I can't imagine why... look at some of this stuff!" He began to dig around in the bin, finding the occasional item that caught his eye. A snow globe minus the snow, a rocking bird that didn't bob back up, and even a picture that printed in black and white.
Pallasite stares at all of the misshapen toys laying right before her, practically drooling over the sight of them.
"Ohhhhhhh ohohohohhh~ Knicker nacks, wabble bobbles, giz and mos, and trinkle lets! Incorrectly labeled malformed... observe no defections among these samplings." states Pallasite as she floats up to the dumpster bobbles, looking over the collection of defective toys with childish wonder. Some of the more metalic toys begin to rumble... then the entire garbage container begins to shake as it flypasts over so gently float above the ground ground and hovers ever so closely near Pallasite. She spins to Agate, with a happy expression on her face.
"Conducive containment kettle for transport... ensurest safety of objects inestimable." states the gem fusion who seemed intent on taking the entire garbage container.
"Sources additional depots for... collection?" she inquires sheepishly, clasping her hands together and staring down Agate expectantly as the garbage contain now beings to orbiting like a planetary system.
Agate's smile grew as he saw Pallasite's excitement upon seeing his favorite place for 'junk'. His face however slowly shifted as he noticed the toys and bobbles in the dumpster began to shake, followed shortly by the dumpster rising into the air just above Pallasite. For a few moments he was stunned, not really sure what to think of it. Humans, in his experience, usually got upset when people took things without asking. But then again, they did throw this stuff out so they clearly didn't want it... And it was a easy way to carry a lot of treasures... "Well... done? Well I suppose like this we can carry a lot more." he looked at his bag, feeling his carrying capacity was a bit inadequate now. "Well, I suppose if you can carry more I know a few more places nearby. I'll lead the way you just..." he looked up at the dumpster orbiting around her, "do... that"
"Correctly, continuation activities present. Allocate additional deposits of refuse of interest we must. Conducive containment kettle assist in holding." she chimes excitedly as she floats behind Agate with the floating dumpster of objects in tow.
As the two traveled to their next destinations, they seem to draw the attention of curious onlooking but none of them seemed to curious enough to question why two strange gem people was strolling through with a floating dumpster. In fact, one human who walked pasted them them threw a piece of plastic wrapping into the dumpster as he passed the two gems as it floated passed him.
"Oh! Most amicable of donations voluntary follicle deprived human!" screeches Pallasite happily as the man who passed responded with gruff "Ehh" and continued walking.
As the pair continued to walk, Pallasite cranes her head forward somewhat and asks Agate a question.
"Adjacent to coordinates in a momentary?" she asks in her difficult to understand speech pattern
Agate led Pallasite down the boardwalk, a little surprised to see some of the people's reactions to their dumpster collection. Indeed seeing one of them give a 'donation' gave him an idea. In a move he hoped would put a tear in his friend Opalite's eye, spun on the spot and glowed briefly till he ceased moving. Visible now was a change of clothes, namely a long fancy jacket over his vest and a bowler hat. As well, in his hand, Agate wielded a rapier. Stepping forward, Agate swept his arms upward and tapped the blade on the boardwalk, "Step right up, step right up! For a limited time only, your very own gem-powered trash service!"
Agate gestured to the orbiting trash bin by Pallasite, indicating for all those around to throw their trash to them. Most of the populace seemed to ignore him however a few took the advantage and tossed a few bags and bins towards Pallasite. Meanwhile Agate continued to lead them, dancing around Pallasite with his little routine, "Not too much farther!" He looked back at their growing collection, "Not a bad haul so far... but we can do better!" And so the routine continued again...
Pallasite was initially puzzled Agate's sudden antics but passively went along with the performance as human started throwing away their refuse into the dumpster still orbiting around her. As the routine continued, Pallasite feels a tug on one of her ribbons. As Pallasite turns her head, she sees an older dark-skinned human looking at her with a concerned look on his face.
"Heya... can you and your friend wait here for a few moments? Promise it will quick now." he states, looking over his shoulder.
Before Pallasite had the chance to open her mouth to form words, the man was already jogging at a brisk pace into one of the nearby buildings his way inside a building. Pallasite looks to Agate, then to building once more. Just as she turned to look the man from earlier and comes back out with shoe box wrapped in duct tape. The man shuffles his way to gem duo, nearly tripping himself in his haste, as he tosses the mysterious shoe-box into the dumpster.
"There! Finally rid of it! Hope you take it as far away from Beach City as possible." states the man who appears to have been relieved of a great burden.
"Oh, apperications much overexposure human!" chirps Pallasite happily as the man lets out a grunt and strolls his way back inside the same building as before. Pallasite looks over to Agate with grin on her face.
((Its completely up to you what is in the shoebox if Agate is curious to at what is inside ))
Agate was enjoying little song and dance routine, and the payoff was better than expected. Indeed the collected treasures was sure to be fascinating (despite much of it most likely being garbage like food waste and what not.) However the piece that intrigued him most was the curious box that had been given, very specifically, by one of the nearby occupants. Unable to wait, Agate closed the distance between him and the dumpster in a single jump, grabbing the shoe box and hurriedly opening it despite the man's warning. The basic protection around the box didn't last long, and soon the contents were revealed...
Inside lay a lone, small, blue gem shard.
Agate fell backwards and plummeted to the ground, exclaiming out of surprise and fear. He sat there after landing hard of the ground, looking up at the dumpster with wide eyes. What happened next didn't do anything to help his current state. Before his eyes the garbage bin began to shake violently, shortly afterwards a trash appeared to grip the side of the bin. Up stood a humanoid looking construct made from various pieces of garbage and trinkets. It turned towards Agate and opened its 'mouth' (consisting of an old wooden chest) and emitted a roar, spitting out pieces of garbage. The 'garbage golem' jumped down, moving to engage Agate, its gem shard core hidden beneath the body of trash.
((Figured it was time for some action, that and I'd love to see Pallasite in a fighting situation ;P))
Pallasite stares wide-eyed as blue shard animates into humanoid junk golem made up of her newly acquired "treasures" and other nearby garbage. The nearby humans where just as equally surprised. Some gasp and stand frozen in place, others quickly taking flight out of the area. There was one human he cried out among the rabble.
"Oh no... NOT AGAIN!" before he too fled with the other humans.
Pallasite was uncertain as to how to react and hesitates to take any sort of action. When the creature of trash makes a threatening roar to her new friend Agate, Pallasite realizes that she must do something even if some her new treasures may get scuffled in the process. Turning her head to the dumpster that the gem shard monstrosity emerged from earlier, Pallasite holds out her right hand towards the object. Upon her command, the dumpster hovers just above the ground. Pallasite then looks to the creature and swings her right arm right arm across in front of her. This motion causes the dumpster to propels itself in the air and crashes into the junk golem like a train, sending kick-nacks and bobbles in various directions. Seeing all of recently collected treasures flying about causes the gem fusion to experience some distress as she pulls the sides of her fettuccine-like strands of hair..
"Ehhhhhhaaaaahhhhh! Carmine bobble-gyro-stabilize! Miniaturized whirli-craft! Organic petrochemical polymer figurine!" she cries out as she floats her way to some of the dislodged objects, the ferric objects floating around her as she passes them while the remainder she picks up to inspect. Pallasite grimaces at the condition of some of the items, then notices Agate and floats in front of the small blue gem.
"Defections on Agate's structure?" Pallasite asks nervously, inspecting him for any obvious sign of damage on his form.
Before Agate could have a chance to speak, the dumpster from before zooms past and nearly hits the two gems. As the dumpster slams through a glass plane in front of what appears to be a restaurant, Pallasite turns her head to see that the junk golem reformed itself from the remaining bulk of trash. The trash beast slams its two arms on the ground and lets out a roar from its makeshift head in the form of wooden chest.
"Ohhh... reason disengaged though discourse optional?" cheerlessly bemoans Pallasite as she faces the junk creature once more as it charges the two gems. Even as the creature charges the two of them, Pallasite seemed more concerned with the safety of her reclaimed objects as she sets them down a little bit away from them so that they will hopefully not be smashed due to any sort of fighting..
Agate picked himself up off the ground, "I'm... I'm f-" He immediately was struck by the flying dumpster projectile, doing what could only be described as a back flip, "-ine..." He lay there for a few seconds, collecting himself after taking a dumpster to the face, as funny as such an idea was the pain wasn't. Once composed he stood back up, wary for anymore trash projectiles, focusing on the golem now charging them both. Without hesitation he summoned forth his weapon, unleashing a few arrows into the creature before it managed to reach Pallasite. He noted they were rather ineffective as it seemed to tank the shots without even flinching. "Ok, time for a new plan..."
Agate's weapon transformed, melding into the form of a rapier, as he rushed ahead to meet the monster head on. He hoped Pallasite would assist him in some way, though he did note she seemed more interested in her trinkets rather than her own safety. The gem met the golem halfway, dodging a clumsy blow and striking a cut across it, making sure to try and stay behind it. He noted the trash bag he had cut spilled its contents, seemingly becoming useless on the ground. A plan was forming...
Pallasite winces as Agate was struck by the dumpster, then looks back to the creature timidly. She slowly begins to levitate herself away from the creature as it quickly tried to close the distance. Agate however intercepted the gem shard golem before it could swipe at Pallasite with one of its lumbering arms. Pallasite uses the moment provided by Agate to get away from the creature, now about 30 feet away monster. While she feels compelled to help Agate who is very much risking his own safety to try to stop the mad construct, Pallasite was conflicted with doing battle with the junk creature due to her pacifist nature and her her unwillingness to damage her own treasures to which make up the creature's composition. Instead she yells out to Agate with what she thinks is helpful advice.
"Ohhh... ohhh... puncture aversion of rotary canine which propells guided explosive canisters figurine referenced as "Dogcopter"? Edition limited..." trails off Palasite as she battle
"OHhhhhh! Near damaged glucose enriched horizontal bread feline referenced "Cookie Cake"! Space variation... uncommon..." calls out Pallasite, a bit more uneasy than before
"AHHHHHhhhhh! NOT DAVE GUY!" Screams Pallasite as she pulls the little wings of hair on the side of her head as she watches in horror as a Dave Guy falls from the golem due to one of Agate's rapier strikes and decapitating itself as it hits the hard ground.
With Pallasite's screams, the junk golem suddenly notices Pallasite. The junk golem lets out a roar as swipes at Agate with one of its arms before continuing to the direction of Pallasite, quickly gaining momentum as it charges at Pallasite once again.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. *Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
