Para let out a little chuckle, "You truly don't do yourself service Fulgurite. You may not be designed for such things, but these augments make you quite capable I would imagine. Judging by their specs, you would be quite the combatant if properly outfitted. Especially with some modifications..." She let that thought linger for a little while, focusing on the billet currently being worked on. As before, her eyes seemed to 'scan' Fulgurite's hands as he worked. Mentally she noted little details that were deemed useful for future use.
When she did speak up again she stayed focused on the billet, "You have already customized yourself to such a degree, there stands no reason to take it further. Even if you may require some... help." It was rather evident who she implied this 'help' should be, though her actual facial expressions gave nothing about her intent away.
"Even if you may require some... help." Fulgurite kept working as they talked, making quick work of the billet as the went, cutting a few into smaller piece to make smaller plates. Things were starting to progress quickly as they talked as he was starting to calm down after the news of Pink Diamond. "Well there is always room for improvement but the problem ends up being how much you can put in or add before the augment starts either becoming too heavy or not as structurally stable due to excessive weak point from too many small connections between the pieces. Though I would never object to a bit of peer review from someone as intellectually capable as myself." Fulgurite smiled again as he spoke and took another quick look at Para. "So once we have a bit of time to put towards dedicated development, I certainly will make sure to get in contact with you"

"Hmm, you go for general structural strength and utility rather than specialization then yes? Smart I suppose. Though... hmm..." Para drifted off into thought, managing the billets while plans developed in her mind. Although she was inspired, she kept it to herself. No need to reveal her grand idea before finalizing and refining it. "As mentioned, I looked very much forward to further chances to work together. I do suspect what I have in mind will be useful, although I will only relay details once I suspect it would be feasible." She glanced over what they had done so far, "Now, how much more work do we have ahead of ourselves? The further we talk, the more excited I become to start experimenting once more."
"The further we talk, the more excited I become to start experimenting once more." Fulgurite looked over what theyhad already done and was surprised at their progress. "Seems I had gotten so absorbed in our conversation I didn't realize this was the last billet." He said looking over the piles of plates and casings for internal components they had already made. "Wonderful, we've made great time. Though I must admit I have quiet enjoyed chatting with you as we worked and do look forward to future projects." Fulgurite said while quickly finishing the last plate and taking a step back to look over and admire the work they had done once more. "Who could have guessed that and extra sets of hands could make such a difference." He said chuckling as he walked back over to the tool rack to hand up the hammer and cutting edge.
"Next on the roster is simply to allow them to cool and assume their, hopefully, final shape and next is final assembly." He said smiling as he ran looked at his augmented hand, focusing on the missing fingers. "After words I'll need to run a full diagnostics and give my augments a dry run before I head out." He closed his hand and then turns around and walked back over to the anvil. He suddenly stopped and snapped his fingers then looked down at his gem, the hairline fracture still abundantly present across the surface of the almost clear stone. "Right, almost forgot about that. The stabilization provided by my augments made me almost forget I'm in a rather serious situation. Should count myself lucky for them though, without them my form would have surely succumb long ago."

Para nodded, "Yes, well I didn't want to mention our completion directly in case you had something else to work on. Chatting did very much speed up our perception of time I suppose, though we would have had a third pair of hands had my-" She blushed slightly, old habits seem to die hard, "Sorry. I mean, if Light was around here. A pearl that assists me here now and then, a goodhearted gem if I have ever known one." She grew serious as she examined his gem from a distance, "As much as it has been enjoyable, we must sort your core out as soon as possible. It will become increasingly unstable if you are unlucky enough. Very possibly fatal if left unchecked as I'm sure you're aware..."
"Very possibly fatal if left unchecked as I'm sure you're aware..." Fulgurite furrowed his brow at this comment as he stood next to the anvil. "That is something I haven't ever really had to worry myself about. One of the problems with agelessness is that mortality is typically far from one own concerns." Fulgurite placed his hand over his gem and held it there. "It is just dawning on me that I have no in formation on what happens to gems after they are shattered. I know of the experiments involving shards that were capable of making fused abominations so it implies that we still remain connected to our fragments." Fulgurite shuddered at the though and took his hand away from his gem and picked up one of the many plates and pieces before him.
"I wish not to linger on such thoughts, if it is not an issue I would rather not continue this aspect of our conversation and focus more on what we can do to fix the issue at hand." Fulgurite said as he cleared a space on the anvil and sat down. He looked over the parts, blinking a few times to shift through the lenses on his eyes to one that would function as an assembly overlay visible only to him as he started to grab pieces and start to finally put himself back together, starting first with getting his hand fully repaired. Picking up several of the smaller components they had created and starting to build his new fingers. He made quick work of the reassembly having done this sevral times before and being guided by the overlay, Fulgurite's hand was finished in a matter of minutes.

"Understandable. I will only offer solutions from this point. Thankfully, it is easier fixed than you might imagine. We rebels have access to methods of healing such injuries. While I haven't seen it in action, I have been to the location. It will be a rather simple affair, though let us hurry with these repairs." She made no move to talk about her experience with shards, something she had extended experience with during her services with Homeworld. It was true though, the implications were unnerving. She saw both sides of the matter, as their use could be invaluable in many tasks. Though often she found that her fellow rebels didn't often agree with such line of thinking. That aside she looked over the cooling plates, "Will you be able to assemble this all yourself or do you wish for my help? Otherwise I may begin the cleanup process if that is agreeable with you."
"Otherwise I may begin the cleanup process if that is agreeable with you." Fulgurite finished putting the last bits of plating onto his fingers and curled his hand tightly making a soft series pops come from his hand as everything was finally set into place. He looked his hand over, rotating it in place as he observed his work and flexed the hand repeatedly to make sure everything was set properly. After working the new digits around a bit he smiled and looked up at Para. "I do appreciate the offer but my reassembly will not require your assistance. I have it all quiet under control at this point." He said as his left hand floated away from it's place at the end of his wrist and towards the other new forged pieces of his augments.
Small tendrils stretched out from the tips of the fingers and stared to grasp several components at once and start putting them together before attaching the to the bare support structure of his legs. "With my hand back to fully operational the final assembly is and entirely automated system. But once I am back on my feet proper, I shall happily help you with the residual clean up of our reconstructive affair." He said watching his hand float about and quickly get everything into place to rebuild his legs. "Though whilst I wait, what is this you know of being able to heal such grievous injuries such as my own as I have no such knowledge of anything like that on Earth."

Para nodded and began to clean up the work space, taking a fair bit of time doing so. She wasn't exactly used to cleaning up after herself, normally she would have more than ample help to do it for her. Speaking of which, where was the helpful pearl...
As Para worked she continued talking, "I will be honest, I know very little of the actual design of it but there is a location that can supposedly heal cracked gems. It is a fountain of sorts, actually one of the more scenic places on this planet. It houses a statue of the rebel leader, flowing with a sort of essence she seems to be responsible for. Stories say that she was able to heal a gem with nothing but her own tears, fixing even the most fatal of wounds. The fountain has a similar effect as I'm told. Like I mentioned, I have not seen it actually used but I have heard so from a number of different sources. And luckily, I know how to get there."
"And luckily, I know how to get there." Fulgurite tilted his head slightly as he looked up at Para. "Really? I wasn't aware any sort of regenerative properties were capable of being produced by a gem. Or at all for that matter. I was lead to believe that any damage sustained was permanent, thus why most damaged gems are... Decommissioned..." Fulgurite shook his head at the last comment and shuddered at the thought. "Though that may have been isolated for gems of lesser quality such as myself." Fulgurite looked back down at his gem as his hand continued rebuilding his legs and then looked up at Para. "I know this is kind of an off beat question but have you ever questioned your mortality or even your position in the authority?"
Post by Forge Master Para on Feb 16, 2017 5:23:35 GMT
"Rumor has it that the leader of the rebels was under Pink Diamond's court, a powerful quartz with equally powerful healing capabilities. As far as I am aware, she is no longer planetside but she left behind the fountain with similar abilities to keep her gems intact. I suspect such power is rare, hence Homeworld's 'removal' of damaged gems. Although, knowing the Diamonds I am sure they would might have ulterior motives." She was nearly done sorting her tools at this point, although much remained to be put away. At the very least things were looking a little tidier from their hurried repairs. On Fulgurite's last question Para halted halfway towards grabbing a tool, "Indeed that is a... intricate question." She paused while she collected her thoughts, putting things away in silence.
Much more solemn she continued, "During my work under Homeworld it was the farthest thought from my mind. A gem like myself was to be nowhere near anything dangerous, I was simply to sit safely at home and create things for those higher than me. I held a certain amount of power of course, I was much higher than your common grunt or even most quartz. The position was nice, although I will admit I tended to lord myself of others, something I am not proud of." At this point she started to idly sort her tools on the table, "Upon first being sent to Earth I thought it was an honor, that I had been selected for my superiority over even my fellow Padparadschas. Then reality quickly found a way to awaken me to the truth of my situation. To spare you a long story, I no longer held such a lofty position and had to fend for myself for the most part. After some minor skirmishes I became painfully aware of my inadequacies in combat, and the very likely possibility of my demise at the hands of a corrupted gem or loyalist." There was another pause as she fiddled with the tools, trying to set them all straight on the table. Moments later she suddenly stood up straight, "Oh my, I am sorry! I did not mean to ramble. I hope I satisfied your question at some point there..."
"I hope I satisfied your question at some point there..." Fulgurite sat quietly as his hand floated about, making quick work of his reassembly. He was intrigued by what Para had to say and was thinking deeply about what the best response would be for her. "I understand greatly the feeling of being lesser, to not believe yourself strong enough to keep going. But it becomes a matter of ones own conviction to show whether we are or not, in combat or not. Strength is not measured only in ones own physical capabilities, even in the heat of battle. And as for your treatment of others, I am not one to condemn the actions of others since such an act in itself shows you are not worthy to do so."As Fulgurite spoke the last piece were finally secured into place and his had floated back to takes it place at his stump of a left arm. Fulgurite stood and took slow measured steps towards her as everything settles, various plates moving ever so slightly to rest in a more comfortable placement as he moved. He stopped in front of her and place his right hand on her shoulder before speaking once more. "What is better, to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?"
Post by Forge Master Para on Feb 17, 2017 10:13:04 GMT
"Again, I do appreciate your sentiment Fulgurite although I still feel it is misplaced. I take no shame in my failure in combat, that was never to be my purpose. It is simply fact that a quartz would do such thing better than myself. But, I take pride in that I do my craft far better than anyone else currently in our ranks. I say with full sincerity that while others could do my job with similar efficiency, none could do it with such skill and determination. While I do wish I could excel in all fields, I and content in being the best here at least." A wide smile grew on her face, "Besides, quartz are a dime a dozen. I on the otherhand am one of a kind on this planet. Such a thing does wonders for ones damaged ego."
Satisfied with her tool organization Para went and sorted her new additions to her smelting tools with the rest, all of which sat along the wall in the far back of the room. She left the tools in case any was needed, but aside from that the room was almost spotless. She sat back down to relax, "I must admit that your question is rather perplexing..." she was silent in thought for a long while before answering, "If I am to be honest, I believe there is little difference. While there is some pride to be had in overcoming ones evil tendencies, whatever your reasons for doing good is irrelevant. You are still doing good either way, and that is to be respected no matter what." Her eyes locked onto him with intent, "Now, answer my own question. Do you believe that one should try and do good, no matter the means with which they do it? Do the ends justify the means in your eyes?"
"Do the ends justify the means in your eyes?" Fulgurite stared to pace around the room slowly as they spoke to one another, crossing his arms behind him. "See, now you step into dangerous territory my dear. One must be very careful when it comes to doing something by any means. Simply because it is viewed as 'good', does not mean that drastic measures should be taken for it's sake. To be honest, this whole war is a perfect example of the discrepancies of good versus good." Fulgurite stopped in his pacing and turned to face Para. "Homeworld is doing what they believe is good for the betterment of their own people. Thus it is good for them to harvest planets, conqueror stars, and take what they need and or please for that cause. Their actions over shadow the consequences suffered by those who they end up taking from because Homeworld sees' it's own cause as the greater good."
Fulgurite paused for a moment as he thought about the best way to phrase the next part of his speech. "Now let's take a look at our cause. We defend the inhabitants of Earth because we believe it is best to allow life to thrive here as it is because they are the natives of this planet. And by stopping the advances of Homeworld we are doing good for this cause. Every time we are able to stop the advancements of Homeworld and their forces, we support our own cause but are being a detriment to them in doing so. So it becomes an ongoing fight on who's good is better than the other. So are we the bad guys because we 'betray' our own to protect what should be the 'rightfully claimed resources of Homeworld'. Or are we the hero's because we choose to save the denizens of Earth against unrelenting odds."
Fulgurite hung his head after stopping and crossed his arms in front of him. "The problem with the nature of good and evil, is that they are oftens one in the same. We can only hope that we just so happen to pick what ends up being seen as the side of 'Good' one the dusts settles. So do the ends justify the means in the end?" Fulgurite lifted his head and looked right into Para eyes. "No, and even if they did through my eyes, I am not the one who decides whether or not they really do."

While she did not show it, Fulgurite's answer deeply unsettled Para. She was in two minds on the subject, as both sides had very strong and tempting arguments. The whole situation was terribly complicated, and so much was at risk that it felt 'certain things' were necessary, and yet she worried this pressure was pushing her to do... unsavory things. She let out a long sigh, "I will admit I see no flaws in your argument, and yet I still find myself having difficulty agreeing with you so easily. I will be honest in saying that I have been in this mental debate since joining the rebellion. I was secretly hoping you would push me into a decision, yet I am even more torn now. I should have guessed an intellect like yourself would not see things so black and white like I had hoped." She rubbed her temples and actually slouched in her chair, "The stress... I swear this war is going to kill me."
There was a long pause while Para collected herself, her collected demeanor replaced with the worry of failure bottled up for months. When she did finally look back up there was a look of determination, "I know we must press on with your final healing Fulgurite but... could I show you something first. I hope that perhaps your objective mind could help put me at rest. But if I do, you must promise me that you will never utter a word to any other gem, understand?" She made no move to indicate what she wanted to show him until he agreed, clearly the matter was serious.

They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’.
