Light Mocha Pearl went to sky arena. He decided that he needs to train if he want to be usefull in battle. There was a bog hw ship in Empire City... it could mean that there will be a big battle. Noone knew why it came but everyone was sure that it is nothing good.
Pearl summoned his loyal hologram: Holo#1. "Holo... lvl 6 please" Hologram just noded. After a while it changed the color of it's eyes to red and started attacking. Light summoned his gem weapon. He was using dance moves to dodge hologram's attacks. Pearl become confident. However gem failed to avoid one attack. Holo made him hall. "Do you wish to engage in combat again?" Hologram gave Pearl a hand so he could stand up. "How is it posible that my own creation is stronger than me...?"
Lapis had seized the opportunity of a wonderfully sunshine-y day to climb higher into the sky than she ever had before, and to go farther from Beach City than she ever had before. Maybe she could just get lost for a little while. That would probably do her some good...
She flew above the clouds for a time, then decided to get a little more adventurous and soar directly through them. Birds seemed to avoid this area, which she liked, and she supposed she'd hear any of the humans' flying machine approaching and be able to get out of the way in time. What she didn't expect was an arena hidden in the clouds, and she made the air-equivalent of skidding to a stop once she came across it—essentially just some frantic fluttering in the opposite direction to slow herself down. She blinked in surprise, then noticed what appeared to be two gems fighting. She grew worried, but stayed there until the one fell. She blinked again as she watched the other go to help the fallen one up. That was something she wasn't expecting...
She flew down to the arena, allowing the watery wings enveloping her arms to just splash onto the ground. Surprise #3 was realizing that one of the two figures was no gem at all, but she had never seen a hologram before so she had no idea what to make of it. She bit her lip apprehensively, then asked "Do... do either of you need help or something?"
Suddenly Pearl saw blue gem. He never met her, the only blue gem he knew was Blue Emerald. Light got scared and fall again "Who are you?!" She did not look like an enemy, Pearl tried to calm down and stood up "I mean... no, everything is fine, no need to worry. I was just training"
Hologram approached to new face "Do you wish to engage in comb-" Light covered Holo's mouth "Holo no, it is not time for this." he looked at stranger "Sorry, I programed this holo pearl to fight right now." Peatl closed his eyes, his gem started glowing "Okay, now she should not do this. So... who are you and what are you doing here? I have never seen gem like you."
Lapis nodded her understanding. "Lapis Lazuli Facet-2H6K, Cut-11DL, and I guess I can understand having never seen me. I didn't even know this place existed!" She said the last bit of her sentence with widening, fascinated eyes, giving a quick inspection over the whole arena. "I sorta found this place on accident... oops. Er, sorry if I'm interrupting. Or if I startled you. I saw you fighting with that... other you." She blinked, then continued "And I was worried that you might need some help or something. I mean, I couldn't have helped you fight but I could have, like, flew to go find help or something." She shrugged. "Anyway, if you're just training for something then I can leave you alone. What are you training for though? Is it because of the rebels?"
"Nice to meet you Lapis. I am prototype of Mocha Pearl aka Light Mocha Pearl. People call me Light though."
Light got nervous whe she mentioned rebels. That would mean that she is not a crystal gem like he. Pearl decided to act as lost Pearl without a master "Well... yes! I am not the best in fighting... and I would like to survive on this planet full of hostile gems and corrupted monster. I used to be in safe hw with other gems but ship of my master crased. Now I am stuck here and I need to find a way how to come back home. My protocol say that if something like that happen I need to contact my creators in my old workplace." Light didn't like this idea, he wasn't the best in acting when he was nervous.
Lapis doesn't seem to notice his nervousness, and probably wouldn't have understood why he'd be nervous anyway. She nodded with a frown. "Yeah, this... thing that's going on between the rebels and Homeworld is really making everyone anxious. I've been lucky so far and have managed to avoid any fighting, but I have a feeling that one day someone might try to strike out at me; whether it's by accident or..." She didn't feel like finishing. She shook the thought out of her mind and continued. "Anyway, if you're just here to train, would you mind if I watched you? I'm not made for fighting so I don't really have an understanding of it."
Before Light would have a chance to respond, she dropped back onto her butt to watch him, landing with a little thud as she did. She blinked as she realized something and asked "Wait... I'm probably uninformed or something, but Pearls don't usually fight, do they?" She tilted her head.
"Well... I guess you-" Lapis wasn't waiting for the answer, she just sit and was waiting for Light to start "...can. However if you want to learn how to fight I would recomend looking at someone who was made for it."
Before Pearl started she made an uncomfortable question for Him. "Have you ever been in homeworld? Everyone knows what are Pearls for... Well... How could I explain this." Light started thinking how to say that "We are suppose to help other gems with different tasks. However as long as I know there are no Pearls that were made for fighting. It is okay, though. There are always Quartz who know how to fight. However now I am alone."
Light grabed his stick again "Holo... lvl 6 again." Hologram's eyes changed color to red. It also run to Pearl with a sworld. Light has got low defence. That is why he was training his dodging skills. He was also protecting himself with his gem weapon.
Lapis kept her eyes focused on Light's movements with a little vacant smile, as if she hadn't realized she was smiling and so couldn't correct it. She replied to Light, speaking in a tone as if they were having a normal conversation, with oblivious disregard to the fact that talking to him at the moment probably wouldn't be very effective. She paused her speech every time Light or the hologram made a strike, as if this were the only time she figured he would need to concentrate.
"Well you're right I—" pause "—do remember what I was told about Pearls, so—" pause "—that's why I was confused when I heard you were training to—" pause "—fight. I don't think I would need to learn how—" pause "— to fight, but I figured I might as well try to learn something from another gem who—" pause "—wasn't created for war."
Pearl wasn't able to talk with gem and fight at the same time. After few minutes Light have menaged to avoid Holo's attack and attack it from behind. He made a really big hole inside Hologram's back. "Congratulations!" after this hologram's body was gone. "uhhh.... Thank you Holo." Light summoned hologram again. He thought that maybe Lapis will want to train.
"Sorry that I wasn't talking to you, it is hard to do it when someone is attacking you. Anyway... I used to check HW's data base about different kind of gems. There was also something about your kind. I am not sure if you need training, all Lapis Lazuli have strong water powers. You can also use water to create copy of someone. It is similar to my hologram ability."
"Uhhhh...." She brushed through her hair with her fingers, an awkward half-smile plastered on her face. "Well, I'm supposed to be able to do all of those things. It just didn't work out like that." The diminutive Lapis stood up, holding her hands out on either side. "I can't move oceans, create copies of myself, or even project my memories out onto water." She shrugged. "I can fly, so I've got that going for me. And I can do this—" She held a hand to the gem on her chest, summoning a small orb of water. She held it out for display as it sat in her open palm. The ball quickly shaped to a cube, a pyramid, some sort of vertical oblong shape, and back to a ball. While it quickly cycled through shapes, she let out a little wavering "WoooOOoOOooOOoo" sound to accompany it. When she was finished, she let it drop and splatter on the ground. "But I don't think that has any practical use. When it comes to fighting, I wouldn't know where to begin. I have to make do with what I have."
"Hmmmm..." Light was looking at Lapis's water thing with curious look. "Well... it is still more interesting than a stick" He was thinking how to help her "Right... stick! i started with it, you can too!" Pearl gave Lapis his gem weapon.
"Okay... You can fight with my hologram. Don't worry, it is programed to don't hurt you too much or poof. I will also set lvl 1. Remember to concentrate. YOu will learn more from this than from watching me.' Light approached to the hologram "Be careful, I used to be as bad in fighting as she." Hologram noded "ehem.... Holo! lvl 1 pls" Hologram made a battle position "Do you wish to engage in combat Lapis Lazuli?!" Light sit on the ground "If something will go wrong I can always turn it off. Just don't panic, okay?"
Lapis took the stick and perked an eyebrow. "Are you sure about this?" She asked in reference to the stick. "I can't summon a weapon like this one my own, y'know. Would this really help me?" She then shook her head and waved it off, indicating that she decided to find out for herself. She nodded to the hologram, steeling herself and gripping the stick tightly out in front of her. "Yes." She said in response to it, and the training began.
She wasn't exactly planting her feet like she probably should have, and she seemed a little confused about the slow pace of the hologram's parrying an occasional thrust. She looked over at Light, tilting her head curiously and breaking her concentration from the hologram. "This... isn't what I expected. Is this just because it's Level One?" She took one of her hands off the stick and summoned some water from her gem, which slipped down her arm and into an awaiting palm. "Either way, using a weapon just doesn't feel right. Maybe it's because I'm not made for one. I think I shou—"
She managed to catch a big mistake lunging at her from the corner of her eye. While distracted with speaking to Light, she let her stick stray too far to block the hologram's incoming thrust. In one swift motion she let out a little squeaky yelp of surprise, dropped the stick, and held out her hands to protect herself from the thrust, squeezing her eyes shut. But the stick never reached her. When she opened her eyes, she realized the water she had kept in her one hand froze instantly the moment she had held out her hands and tensed up. Her hand and the tip of the hologram's stick were frozen solid in a single chunk of ice preventing the hologram from actually attacking her with that weapon. She blinked in surprise. She hadn't meant to do that.
Light looked at Lapis with nostalgic look "It is a stick, one of the simpliest weapons. It is easy to learn how to fight with it. I am sure you can do this."
Gem started fighting with Holo#1. Hologram tried to be as weak as posible. Lapis was expecting something more "Yes, this hologram was programed to train with different kinds of gems. It is your first battle and I don't want you to freak out like I used to." Light was thinking about what he said. He realized that he still freak out... even on lvl 1...
Suddenly Lapis decided to summon some water "It is good that you are trying to figure out how your powers work. Just be careful! " Than Lapis did something impresive. She turned her water to ice and used it as shield "Woah! I didn't know you can do that! You are doing great!"
Lapis didn't just make a shield. As it turned out, the stick the hologram had thrust forward penetrated the water before Lapis froze it, leaving the end of the hologram's weapon frozen in the ice. It likely made a poor robotic attempt at freeing its frozen weapon, jerking it forward and back. This also shook Lapis back and forth, because her hands were frozen inside the same chunk of ice. She tried to look back at Light, now starting to panic, and asked "Okay, what do I do now!? I don't want to melt the ice because I will get attacked if it gets free!" She grunts and tugs back against the hologram's pulling, the two of them now locked in a bizarre tug-of-war.
Light got nervous when Lapis had problems with the hologram. He decided to do something "Holo! That will be all, thank you!" Hologram's eyes turned back to normal. Now it was just standing and waiting for the new orders. "Of course Mr Light!"
Light approached to the Lapis Lazuli. "You did great! And you also learned something new about your powers today! I think you deserve some rest. You can also melt this now."
It was really impresive. After some time Lapis could become really skilled with her water powers. Her kind was created to terraform but at the same time they had a fighting potential.
Pearl turned to Lapis again "Maybe... you want to go and hang out...? Of course if you want to." He had a nervous voice.
njrk97: I mean Carbon is a very chemically stable element, takes alot for it to react, and Diamonds are already made from immense heat and pressure on coal, so good luck trying to burn a Diamond Gemstone

Light: it still doesn't answer my question. What does it smell like (Although it would differ from gem to gem)

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
