In the vacuum of space, no one can hear you scream. Or laugh. Or cry. Or shoot laser beams. Because space is a vacuum, and you cannot hear anything in a vacuum. Except John Williams. John Williams is the only thing that can be heard in space.
And it was in this vacuum that a relatively small ship was meandering, gently easing it's way toward a giant sphere of green and blue - Earth. The captain of this ship was an even smaller gem: Tennantite, inventor of the luxurious Homeworld gem polisher and accomplished artificer. Her crew consisted of three Rubies, a Nephrite pilot, and Yellow Sunstone - Tennantite's personal guard. Accompanying them were the various machinations and automatons aboard the ship, all of them clanking around within the confines of the flying workshop.
"We're roughly twenty minutes from the base, captain." chimed the Nephrite over the ship's inter-com. "And please tie down anything that's loose; I don't wan't another of those metal blocks of yours slamming into my thigh."
A giant puff of slate hair peeked into the cockpit, heralding the arrival of Tennantite.
"I'll make sure nothing interrupts your landing procedures, Nessie. Just, uh, take a break or something after we land, I guess. Been wanting to try out the pilot automaton I've been working on."
"Y'know, captain, I wouldn't mind a spin on that fancy polisher thing of yours; Diamond knows I've earned it having to fly you around."
The hair puff bobbed slightly as Tennantite nodded - the doorway and her short stature all but concealed the gem from the pilot's view. "Sure thing, Nessie. Just don't crash."
The Nephrite pilot chuckled a bit as the puff vanished from view, returning her attention to the ever closer moon base. Placing a finger over a rectangular button, 'Nessie' prepared to contact the traffic control of Pink Diamond's moon base. She couldn't help but feel a little nervous in such grandiose company.
"Motherbase, this is shuttle WD-1648 requesting permission to land. How copy, over?"
>normally I'd color their voices but I'm on a phone so forget that
