Tourmaline warped to the galaxy warp with a subconscious voice saying not to go. He checked out the warp pads almost tempted to test every single one out to see where he could go. He knew the homeworld warp would not work or else troops would be sent here and aristocratic gems would leave immediately. He wondered if he could build one from scratch surely it would benefit him in many ways. It might even be the key mode of transportation for the invention he is working on. Tourmaline could see it now, his friends and a acquaintances in trouble and he warps behind them and with a flash of light he saves the day! Not bad he thought, not bad at all.

Though she'd often appreciated the view of the ocean, it was beginning to become something more monotonous for the sapphire; an endless expanse of water rolling beneath the ship as it zipped overhead through the darkening sky. The crescent moon perched above served to shed silver light onto the peaks of the waves, breaking up the otherwise unadorned, flat plane of Earth's most common sight.
As it flew on toward the destination she'd put into the coordinates, she peered at the other gem who had accompanied her on this mission-- the Red Beryl who had called her to be a part of a spontaneous interrogation not long ago. Despite being somewhat acquainted, there was still an unsettling aura that emanated from this researcher. Perhaps the unconventional nature of her, though the sapphire couldn't say she was entirely conventional herself. Perhaps the cold manner of this gem was what put her off? She'd never been out in the field with this gem, but she knew that Red took her job seriously, and that the sapphire could appreciate.
They'd been assigned a mission, which Padpara may have once regarded as a somewhat simple endeavor-- a rescue. The technician in question had gone missing some time ago after a dispatch to Earth, and it had been decided that the best course of action would be to go to the galaxy warp. Though the main Homeworld receptacle had been destroyed, other warps could get them quickly and safely around Earth to check different locations for any leads on this gem.
Her eyes flickered across her panel, then up to the aperture of the ship-- The warps drew up over the horizon, and the sapphire prepared her landing sequence as her nose was in her holoscreen.
Red didn't know why she had accepted the mission offer, it wasn't a problem with her partner. The Sapphire was professional and one of the few gems that she had actually screened; meaning that they were one of the only gems from Pink Diamonds court who she would even think of accompanying. Her problem was with the mission itself, a 'rescue', was not in her job description; not to mention that it was far too dangerous for an average aristocrat to go on.
She glanced at the Padparadscha out of the corner of her eye. It's pupil never straying from the front screen as their destination got inexhaustibly closer.
They should have at least brought a Quartz along, there were plenty to choose from on the base; large and powerful in their hard light forms. But... she had made her peace with these issues, it would give her a chance to see the Galaxy Warps for herself. They were quite literally the only escape route for a majority of gem forces on Earth, so if there was any way that they could be salvaged it was better they know now than in a couple years time.
Red was content to just ride along in silence, but as they approached the structure a red alarm began to beep on her holo-display that was placed like a tablet on her forearm. Looking down she commented dryly "It seems we have an intruder up ahead; I guess someone had the same idea as we did" her deadly pneumatic weapons already forming as she finished updating the team on this happening.
Tourmaline's eyes widened at the ship flying towards his face. He looked up and noticed the different features of it. As far as he could see there were no heavy weapons, it seemed at best a standard aerial craft, maybe the occasional blasters or two. He knew the Crystal Gems would not have the schematics or most of the materials required to make a ship of that stature. "Time to go!" He ran onto the warp pad, and well it was more like tripped over the warp pad and activated it sending him on his way back to the colony ships. The beam of light would shine brightly over the gem as it warps him into the sky and towards his destination.
She pursed her lips as she listened to Red, then her own ship's radar locked onto movement; a gem-form that dashed across the view panel, then disappeared into a flash of light on one of the surface warps. "Making a run for it. Suspicious to say the least," She mused aloud. There was no reason to believe that this gem had been connected to the rescue mission the two of them were meant to undertake-- but if the gem ran, they were certainly on the wrong side of the law. It was convenient when they admitted guilt before capture, though now the two of them had a decision on their hands. Going off on a tangent might mean losing valuable time in pursuit of their main objective.
The ship lowered gracefully onto the surface of the warps, the engines whirred and decompressed until the machine came to rest. With that,Padparadscha stood, and equipped her field tools. She turned to look up at the unusually tall beryl as she secured her apparatus, "May or may not be a lead," She piped up again,"But, I'm not sure we can let this one go," The door locks disengaged, and slid open to allow the cool evening air to fill the cabin.
Red hummed in agreement as she watched the shape disappear in a pillar of light "I will admit, it has been a long time since something that ran away was good" as they got closer she made sure to keep track of exactly which Warp Pad the figure had used. Standing up she dug through one of the storage compartments, Red had to admit; at least to herself; that she wasn't terribly interested in the fleeing gem, she already had data on green ones and if they didn't intend to shatter it there wasn't much use capturing it.
However, there was still one possibility for them to explore. Which is why she pulled out a strange hand held device topped by two sparkling orbs.
Then patiently waited in front of the exit door as it slowly descended, as-soon-as the ramp was fully extended she strode down it. Careful to choose the one that the rebel had used she pressed it up against that specific Warp Pad's base, speaking off-handly towards the Sapphire "We may not have to choose" Red watched as the small screen showed off a map of the world for a split second before zooming in and placing a red blip on the map of a heavily forested piece of jungle "This fugitive chose a prime location to run. One of the old remains of a colony ship... Seems as good a place to start as any other"
Tourmaline began running, sprinting, and tripping his way through the forest. He ran towards his ship and realized he might have led the Gems to the base location. "Well there goes my super secret awesome base..." he thought sadly. He grabbed all the supplies that were essential and rode the levitating circular floor elevator to the roof where his invention was waiting. He climbed onto the top of the seat and charged electricity through it, powering it up. It raised itself up and began to spider crawl down the side of the ship and headed west away from the warp pad and towards the mountains. "They can't bring their ship here through the warp pad, and if they decide to fly here than they will lose me due to the time it takes to get here...even so I do have my AA-Canons online".
Padparadscha followed close after Red as she made her way down the ramp. As they stepped off, she flicked her finger's across her screen to initiate the locking and defense mechanisms of her ship. She turned to trail after the beryl as she scanned the recently discharged warp, and listened before giving a curt nod. She rolled her shoulders back to release some tension there, and settled a curious eye on the technology in the beryl's possession. "An apt enough place to possibly find a technician. If we happen across this deserter, then I suppose that will be another notch in the belt,"
The sapphire stepped up onto the crystalline warp, and clasped her hands together. The runaway gem would have a bit of a head start in what she knew to be one of the most grueling environments on Earth's surface, but it could play to their favor if the Homeworld gems were more experienced with that terrain than the one they pursued. She only hoped that things weren't the other way around-- it was an easily deceptive place, perfect for the setting of an ambush. Her gut twisted a bit at the thought of going back into the fray of the jungle, and all of the conflicted memories associated with it, but she kept herself calm.
Red quickly packed up the multi tool as the Sapphire stepped past her, commenting offhandedly "If it keeps up this way it might be prudent to buy more belts" the crystalline surface of the Warp Pad was cool and smooth beneath her bare feet. She didn't expect to be ambushed as the machine hummed into life; after all who would put their base anywhere near a Warp Pad connected to your most feared enemies zone of control. Which made the scene even more surprising as the two Homeworld gems appeared in a brilliant flash of light...
The jungle was dense and its growth was only held off from the Warp Pad by what Red guessed was careful grooming, at the very least enough that the machine was still usable. The fact that it was so overgrown actually helped her see exactly where Tourmaline had run off to. It would have been possible to search the whole Jungle for years and never find exactly where the base had been; except for the fact that his mad sprint cutting a perfect person sized hole through the underbrush.
Stepping curtly off of the Warp Pad Red moved forward, before stopping suddenly and lowering herself to the ground and pressing one ear against the jungle floor.
Tourmaline continued to ride his machine towards the mountains of the west. Even If they had just warped to the jungle, Tourmaline's base was around 2 miles away from the warp, and he already left that place some time ago! In addition they might take the time and search the base, so that could potentially buy him some time...however he could not be dependent on his own assumptions he would need to account for the worst possible scenario in the case that they are already behind him. Tourmaline gave the machine a bit more electric power to go off of so it would increase the machines pace. He knew if he could at least reach the mountains it would give him the high ground and the advantage.
When the two Homeworlders materialized into the jungle, the sapphire swiveled her head to get a look at their surroundings. She smirked at Red's comment, and stepped down from the warp pad. Her eyes narrowed at the shredded foliage that had been apparently left in the runaway's wake. Either this gem was careless, cocky, or they had already begun to weave a trap for them to fall into. Either way, it was the only kind of lead offered, and going off path could very well get them lost in the disorienting maze of the rain-forest. She flipped open her holoscreen to double check their position, and marked the site to begin a tracking roll.
She moved up to the opening of the chasm that their escapee had punched through the jungle, and knelt down to get a closer look at the tracks the gem had left in the damp forest floor. It was hard to make a kind of judgement with so little to go off of, but it could still be useful down the line and Padparadscha liked to be thorough. She took photo evidence of the tracks and stepped back to get one of the silhouette the presumed traitor had left behind.
Then, she turned to see Red doing a sound check, and held still so that the beryl would be able to pinpoint the movements of the gem. From whatever the investigator determined, they would be able to see where the intentions of the runaway laid in these brazenly uncovered tracks.
Red pushed her head against the dirt with purpose, her eyes growing half-lidded and hazy as she stopped registering the sights in front of them. Now, Red did not have a particularly good sense of hearing; being made to be a scientist such a skill was not needed and none of her mutations were geared towards such a purpose. But there was one thing that her entire body was intimately familiar with, something that was being given off in huge waves with every metallic click of the spider walkers legs.
That one thing was... vibrations.
The hard, dirt packed ground was the perfect carrier for her to 'listen' in on the run aways movements. It was difficult to tell exactly how far away the machine was while it moved, but that wasn't too much of a problem, sitting up she stated monotonously "Looks like we won't need to go to their base anyway. Unless the jungle has naturally occuring giant metal robots then it's safe to say he's running that direction" she pointed in a diagonal line towards where they needed to cut him off at.
Though it wouldn't be much use, unless they found a similar way to cut through the dense jungle branches. the most obvious way was to simply summon a bladed weapon and cut through, but the rebel gem was moving incredibly fast. 'Maybe we could burn through' Red thought idly.
Tourmaline rode the machine through the jungle leaving obvious marks and tracks on the ground. He knew at this point there was no point in hiding, but running? That was an option he could pull off. This machine he had been working on, once perfected in give or take a couple decades of work alone, could possibly be the most mobile and versatile Anti-Vehicle machine homeworld has ever seen! It being able to crawl on ledges provided with the legs of Injectors provided by the kindergarden, components from the ships of homeworld, and the cannons from basic fighter jets! However he could not find a power source strong enough and light enough to keep this thing powered up and moving fast, so the only option he could think of was...well himself!
She was relieved to hear that the fugitive wasn't masterminding some ambush for them to fall into, not here at least, but it did pique her nerves to hear that they had what sounded to be rather advanced technology at their disposal. She followed Red's pointed finger, and calculated how much energy she would need in order to pull it off without igniting the whole area. Burning things was awfully fun, but she was often reluctant to do so, due to the fact that the gems she worked with weren't usually as resistant to high temperatures as she was; perhaps she would be able to work in a forest fire, aside from the occasional obstruction, but she couldn't often say the same for her partners.
However, her previous observations told her that it had recently rained, and being that the jungle climate was prone to a constant state of dampness, she decided it might not be all together out of the question. "That happens to be one of my specialties," Padparadscha commented, then summoned a disk of white-hot plasma. She stretched it until it was a thin rectangle, tall enough to accommodate for the height of the beryl. Then she held it out vertically in front of her and shot it forward. When the plasma contacted the foliage, plumes of white smoke billowed up around her. But, as she suspected, the recent rainfall kept it from spreading into a fire. She pushed the plasma onward, keeping a steady, quick pace as she melted through the branches and leaves.
Red watched as the foliage melted away, maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to bring aristocratic gems onto missions. While Quartz's and mutants had the physical strength or gem killing weaponry, they definitely didn't bring the same level of auxiliary abilities that were necessary to cut through a jungle, especially when it was a soaking as this. It would've taken Rubies hours to cut through this mess, not that she was particularly fond of them in the first place; this just made their inadequacies more clear.
Standing up Red smiled fondly at the little Padparadscha "That'll do, we shouldn't have to worry about any flames" while other gems might have to stress about heat, ones of their caliber wouldn't crack unless exposed to the raw plasma that she slung around, and even then; only if she kept it intensely focused on them. While it was dangerous to go after a clearly advanced machine wielding renegade, she had packed some things that could be re-purposed. Not the least of which was the fact that having such a machine would make tracking it the easiest thing in the world, there weren't many electric producing objects in the jungle, especially not one with a huge output.
She set an easy pace through the jungle, easily avoiding the few vines that littered the ground after the tunnel had been created.
This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.

Differances Between the Roleplay and the Show
*Thanks to Rose Quartz' message the Gems on Earth are entirely aware that the Homeworld Gems intend to wipe out the human race.
*The "corruption"'s Origin is still unknown, some suspect it was a viral infection, other claim it was a Diamond experiment gone awry and other suspect the organics were behind it. Regardless no one seem to have a proper answer about what it was and why its only isolated to Earth
*Garnet, Pearl and Rose are assumed capture on Homeworld
*Garnet,Pearl and Rose broke the space warps to delay Homeworld
*Thanks to Roses Message gems now know what the Kindergarten was used for
