It was a nice warm day in Beach City, things were peaceful as the day progresses lazily on. A short ways away from the city was a tall hill that overlooked the surrounding area, and atop it was a lighthouse that extended further into the sky. In one of the upper sections a tall red gem stirred, rising up from her makeshift bed laying on the hard floor, raising her arms over her head the gem stretched her form out before glancing around the room. She had taken this room as a personal base of operations, located just below the highest level of the lighthouse. Scattered randomly across were a few boxes and other random odd bits that were left behind by some other previous owner.
Off to one side she grabbed a red hat sitting near her bed and placed it on her head, the red top hat managing to almost look like a part of her form if it wasn't for the fact it was a slightly different set of reds. Properly decorated she climbed up the last set of stairs, bringing her up to the open platform overlooking the entirety of Beach City. Her arms rested on the railing as she watched over the busy city below, a slight smile creasing her lips, "No jobs today, looks like we get to take it easy. Nice day too..."

Empire city was glorious. A real marvel of human engineering. Beach city was something completely different. It was so calm and small. Chip could easily flew from one end to the other in seconds. He grew to like this place. Even the ocean. He was afraid of it because of the corrupted gem he fought under water, where is fires were weak. But he could be easily flying above the water, skimming the tops of the waves, baiting the monster. Just a second more and quickly dodge the stream of water shot from the dark emptiness of the ocean. And once more, just flying, flying and slicing the water stream with his Solar Lance. It was a game of cat and mouse and he was never sure if he was the cat or the mouse. And from time to time the monster managed a lucky shot, like now. Suddenly a stream of water blew Chip from the water, straight into the air with enough force to blast him right into the lighthouse. It was worth the fun. He flew above the lighthouse, looking into the water, not noticing that there is someone present.
Pyrope had just lifted herself off the railing, and was about to start heading down to Beach City to see what she could get into, when the entire structure shook from the impact of something smashing into it. Concerned she ran off to the other side just in time to see a gem rise up from their point of impact, turning her concerned expression to annoyance. Glancing down at the impact site to confirm it was indeed him who rocked the tower, she looked up at the now hovering gem, "Hey! Watch where you're flying, you could've broke something!" Although she couldn't even hope to reach him, she shook her fist as the intruding gem in a flimsy attempt to intimidate him.

Chip heard someone talking so he turned to see a gem. He had a feeling he saw it once before? Hmmm he might, wasn't sure. "Oh, hey there. Don't worry, I am quit light, I won't break anything. I like this city too much to break anything, on purpose at least. Haven't wee seen each other? In Empire City? With the very official gem who was barking orders a lot?"
He asked openly. He remembered only some gems, mostly those he spoke with more then once. Others he forgot easily. But there was something about this one, something strange.
"I was just playing with the Old one, miscalculated her attack a bit."
He laughed carelessly. It was one heck of a hit, but he was perfectly fine.
There was a brief confused look on her face as she tried to recall the event this gem was on about, before a sudden look of recognition replaced the confusion, "Right... you mean XB. I think I remember, you called yourself a guard or something right? So what, you guard two cities now?" She raised an eyebrow with her accusation, confused that a single gem would take up that position with two cities far apart from one another.
Moments after the situation sort of clicked and a much more important question rose, "Hold on, 'Old one'? What are you on about, are saying someone threw you up here? And you're... laughing..." She was more baffled than irritated at this point, this gem seemed to have such incredible abandon despite the fact it sounded like he was attacked by something, or someone.

"Pfff I don't call myself anything. I am a protector of Empire city... and no, I don't guard more cities, I just like to visit Beach City from time to time. It's nice here... so... calm. And only a warp pad ride away..."
He laughed once more. There was no reason to be sad.
"Yeah, the "Old one" is a big and powerful corrupted gem. It lives under the sea... I can't really fight it, since my fire don't work that well under water. It usually shoot water beams at gem that gets too close. Quite strong too. But one day I will get powerful enough to blast it even though it's under water. But not anytime soon it seems."
Strange as it was he thought about the Old one as a rival. It was an incredibly powerful gem after all.
This gem was starting to seriously give her a headache with all the mental gymnastics she was doing trying to figure him out. She massaged her temples and gave a long sigh, "So this is some vacation joint for you then. Alright, that's fair. But the whole... y'know..." she waved her hand around trying to find the words, "...fighting a massively powerful monster for fun is where you lose me. What if it cracks you, or worse! How can you be that reckless and have such a fun time?" Despite the annoyance there was an underlying layer of genuine interest. She had always been beyond careful in all things, the idea of acting with such reckless abandon was almost entirely foreign to her.

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
