Reassuring sounds (Finished)

[Melody]

Pearl noticed how the gem was acting. Their posture, the way they spoke, she sensed a how they were emitting a negative energy. She knew what to do, she went through the similar scenarios many times with her previous owner. Hopefully her strategy would work on them as well. Pearl's gem on her right ear started to glow, it was creating a soft and gentle, creamy light. At the same time it started to play some simple notes that soon became a full melody. "Making mistakes can be good sometimes, it can motivate us to improve." She looked at the gem to see how they were doing, but it was hard because of the mask they were wearing. "We are all made with knowledge that is suppose to help us in our work. The problem is that our universe tends to change and we need to adapt. A few thousand years ago nobody would believe that there will be a rebelion on Earth, just look at what has been happening recently. We live in strange times, we all find it hard to function like we used to." 

At some points the melody began to quiet down before turning into complte silence. "You are worried, that is good. It means you are a loyal gem, a gem that doesn't want to disappoint our Diamond. That is why I am sure you will figure out on your own how to solve your problem." She made a small, but a sympathetic smile. This gem was a soldier, a gem that was ready to fight for their court and Homeworld. While Pearl couldn't do the same, she respected their job and wanted to do something to help them in their struggle.

[Black opal]

Black Opal would gasp as she heard the music, her eyes went a bit wide under the mask before she fell to her knees, slumping over a bit as she looked down. "You don't understand." She says softly. "If I make mistakes it could be extremely fatal if my higher ups learned of them..." She says and looks at the pearl, she just seemed tired now. "I have to keep up with myself... or I won't be able to keep up with the world I love." She says. She would think for a few seconds. "I can shed some light on this if you can promise me that you can keep a secret for me." She says. "I need someone I can truly trust."

[Melody]

Pearl just looked concerned at the mysterious gem. She was sure she had everything figured out by now. After all most gems were afraid of not meeting the standards, of becoming useless-obsolete and disposed of, she was not an exception. But she stayed silent, she wanted to know what the strange gem had to say. 

As they continued she sighed. They wanted to keep up with the world they had, the one they loved. It sounded oddly nostalgic, but it also brought some more negative emotions. She wasn't sure how old this gem was, but she learned during her old life that things will never be the same like they used to. She was just happy she wasn't removed from society, that her voice was still audible. And it was the case because of this place and her Diamond. Maybe that is why she didn't believe that this gem wasn't in danger. Pink Diamond was the kindest, the  most lovable and motherly Diamond in her eyes. 

Pearl looked confused at them. She didn't belong to them, therefore she could technically not keep the promise. It wasn't something she would like to do for sure, but it was still interesting how they were ready to trust her with personal information. They really needed someone to talk to in that case. How could she say no? She noded her head "I promise."

[Black opal]

She nods as she breathes in nervously, she would reach up and grab her mask, beginning to pull it from her face before her form began to glow and shift, the mask fell to the ground and burst into nothingness. Her mismatched gems moved to the center of her now shapeless form before it split in two, and each half took a gem with it, then the two blobs took on their original shapes, a 6 foot tall carnelian, and a shorter black pearl, they were holding each other's hands as they stood there in Black Opal's place. The Pearl seemed a lot more shy than Black Opal would have been, so it was clear that her personality wasn't the dominant one. "This is what I... We mean..." Carnelian says, to which the pearl would nod.

[Melody]

She knew something was wrong the moment they grabbed their mask and their form started to glow. It was also the moment she saw their gemstone...s. Melody slightly moved away from the glowing figure transforming in front of her. She stared with disbelief. It wasn't the first time she encountered a fusion of two different gems. When she worked for her Zircon they saw different off-colors, cross fusions too. But here? In her Moonbase? So close to her Diamond? That was unacceptable! Forbidden! Cross fusions were only allowed as a way of the final form of self defence, those two weren't in danger. Pearl felt naturally 
uncomfortable, slightly disgusted even.

To make matters worse, she noticed that one of the components was a Pearl like her. She hoped that she wasn't forced into this fusion by this quartz.

But something intrigued her. Who would allow them to be here? There was only one gem to came to her mind, her Diamond. But she just couldn't believe it. However, Pink did accept her too, she must have had a good reason to accept this fusion. Pearl always believed that her Diamond was going to change the universe, she just didn't expect her to do it this way. But if her Diamond was fine with this, she was fine too.

Pearl t walked up to the door and closed it so nobody would it come in and interrupt them. She than approach those two gems and made some big breaths before talking again. She massaged her forehead, hoping it would help her relax "Let me get this straight. You two are a permafusion that works for our Diamond and is given the task of hunting down the rogue gems? But you two are... it is..." She let go of her head since it wasn't helping. Instead she just looked at the two gems "I would never dare to question my Diamond, but how is it possible? In here? Is Euclase even aware of this?"

[Black opal]

"You're the only gem who knows now... as the last one who knew was shattered by rebels..." The carnelian says. "We've been registered as a single gem since our own commander learned of us being a fusion, she wrote a report on how we... well basically we don't exist any more, now it's only Black Opal." She says and turns to look at Black Pearl who adorned the white diamond insignia on her chest, while carnelian did have the pink diamond insignia on her shoulder. The pearl herself was obviously doing a breathing ritual. "Our first time was to save ourselves in a battle... that's when I learned just how talented Black Pearl here was." Carnelian says. "I realize now that it's likely my fault we even made a mistake..." She states as the pearl just stood there, watching Melody with and analyzing gaze, her fingers which took more of a menacing clawed look danced as if she was typing on a holo tablet.

[Melody]

Pearl's eyes widened "Pink Diamond doesn't know anything about this. Only me." She had a weird feeling inside, as if something was eating her from inside. She was never in such a situation before "She should know, it is not fair. She cares about us... but what if the other Diamonds found out. We would be ruined for sure." It was more of a converstaion she had with herself than anything else. She was also basically grabbing her head at that point. She couldn't believe that they were so disrespectful towards her Diamond. Her mouth let out a big sight "You two are fully aware that this could be really problematic for all of us if someone found out, right?" She looked at the two gems. The other Pearl seemed to be especially uncomfortable about the situation. "You can't possibly hide this fact forever." Melody attempted to look stoic and untouched, she really did. But it was clear on her face that she was scared.


She tried to reason with them "At one point someone will destroy your mask, your form will be damaged or you will be forced to unfuse. And it could happen in public." She tried to stay quiet, but she found it hard while thinking about all the possible outcomes. "That is why I want to ask you this one thing, how long are you planning to continue this?" Pearl couldn't lie about the situation, they were playing a dangerous game. And now she was suppose to keep this secret as well? What if someone learned that she knew and didn't say anything? She would be thrown away! Or worse, harvested! 

[Black opal]

The pearl would step forward. "The only reason we showed you is because we needed someone we could trust, someone we could talk to." The pearl seemed to get really bold. "We had been able to keep up so far, and now we need advice, so we aren't revealed in public." She says. "And as Carnelian said... we don't exist any more, it's only Black Opal." She states. "From one pearl to another, I ask you to not expose us, please." She says she would think a bit. "We just need to vent... we have kept to much bottled up at this point." Carnelian nods, it was obvious the two had been having a tough time keeping this all in through however long they had been together.

[Melody]

She raised her hand in front of the other Pearl's face. "That is enough, stop." She sighed, a little bit annoyed "I already promised you two that I will stay quiet." Pearl once again looked at both of them. She have heard many stories related to off colors, fusions too, but this was by far one of the craziest ones. Not to mention those gems on their own weren't really that perfect either. It took her some time, but she did notice the other Pearl's long nails that were really more like claws. Such an imperfection is usually not left unnoticed when the pearl is forming for the first time. Perhaps the fusion was really the only way for her to exist, her way of escape. She didn't know that of course, it was just one of her theories. That is what working with a Zircon for many years can do to a single gem. 

Pearl soon continued "Besides, telling this to anyone else won't do much good, quite the opposite actually." Her hand pointed at her chest where the pink diamond insignia resided "My Diamond comes first. Who knows how would Yellow or Blue Diamond react to this! Nobody can learn about this."

Melody started to walk around, from one side to another while considering the best solution. "You can never be fully protected, that is for sure. But..." She raised her hand to the sky and stood in one place "You could lower the chance of you two being exposed to the public." Her hands raised again gesturing at their forms "You are two completely different gems and therefore your ways of thinking differ as well. You are like two different sounds that are trying to compose a song. But to create a song all components need to broadcast on the same waves, 
emphasize each other, compose something new and... understand each other."  The more she talked about it the more she started to think about fusion in general. What is really that bad? She just talked about it as if it was art. Stars no, fusion led to ideas, ideas she had to avoid, it wasn't good for her. Those two from the other hand had to stay like this for now.

Pearl coughed to get their attention again."In other words, you don't need me. You need each other. Only by proper communication you will have a better connection with each other and your fusion will be more stable. Various views and negative emotions will just lead to a song with no tact. I mean... they will lead to conflicts and you two unfusing." 

[Black opal]

The pearl would stop talking and step back when she was signaled to stop, she looked down a bit as she listened. She nodded, everything about what the other pearl had said was true, and they both knew this, they did need each other, but they both had completely different mindsets for needing each other. Carnelian would be thinking it over in her head as to what the other pearl meant, but at heart, she was a soldier, programmed to think of the task in need of accomplishment and the best way to do it. "What do you mean? I don't understand the comparison to music here..." Carnelian would state. Black Pearl on the other hand, she was made in a way that made her impressionable and this made it easy for her to become attached to someone. Black Pearl knew the difference in thought patterns, and it was obvious that she knew something was up, she looked like she had something on her mind, knew she'd either have to push her feelings aside for a tactical advantage like Carnelian was thinking, or Carnelian would have to see eye to eye with the pearl, one or the other had to give, and Black pearl didn't want to have to be the one to give. "She means we both have different reasons and needs for us to fuse..." Black Pearl chimed in softly. Carnelian looked to her partner. "What do you mean? How do you see the fusion?" She asks, it was clear Black Pearl was holding something back.

[Melody]

She let out a small "Ummm..." Truth to be told, she barely understood how the fusion worked, she wasn't some sort of expert. Her observation was mostly based on the relationships instead. Melody tried to come up with a better explanation, but the Black Pearl did it herself. "That is one way to put it. Understanding those reasons and needs should in theory make you two more stable."

Her gaze shifted to the other Pearl as Carnelian spoke to her. She seemed distressed and Melody started to slowly realize what was going on in here. Carnelian was obviously not the gem she was made for since they were both from different courts. Perhaps she became a permafusion so Carnelian would be a substitute for her original (If she ever had one). Melody didn't know for sure, it wouldn't be something she would do. Wouldn't fusing mean that she would disappear? That she would be replaced with a new entity? 

It was clear that this gem didn't want to reveal the truth. Melody noded and tried to give her a a reassuring look. They had to be honest with each other, it was the only way to become closer. Closer... A Pearl being closer with another gem in this way was forbidden. And there she was, helping them, doing something illegal, but it was all for her Diamond! It must have been a good enough reason.

[Black opal]

Carnelian would move close to Black Pearl who would hug her sides and look down. "What is it...?" Carnelian would ask. Black Pearl would look up at Carnelian with a pained and conflicted look in her eyes. Carnelian would frown as she saw this. "I don't want to be a tactical advantage." Black Pearl would say. "Are you saying you don't want to fuse any more?" Carnelian asks, to which Black Pearl would shake her head. "I want to fuse..." She says. "Then what do want?" Carnelian asks. "I want you!" Black Pearl says suddenly, this obviously takes Carnelian by surprise. "I... I want to be with you, I don't want us to just be a tactical advantage any more." Black Pearl would say. Carnelian would nod as she thought before reaching forward and taking the pearls hands in her own. "We both need the same thought process... don't we?" Carnelian asked as Black Pearl just watched her. The Pearl gave a small nod. Carnelian then pulled the Pearl into a hug, which she gladly accepted, leaning in and closing her eyes as she was embraced. Carnelian nods. "I see... this whole time, I was making sure not to let feelings get in the way, when all we needed was to reveal our feelings... and embrace them." Carnelian says, this made Black Pearl open her eyes and look up at Carnelian. "What do you mean...?" She asks. "This whole time, I thought you were looking at it tactically... and thinking about rules, despite breaking a pretty big one... so I shut my own emotions off so it wouldn't be conflicting with our fusion..." Carnelian explains. "You..." Black Pearl starts. "...I was covering up my feelings for a tactical advantage, as it seems, like you were." Carnelian finished for her. Black Pearl would then look at Melody with a look of mixed emotions, gratefulness, surprise, happiness, among many others, she then said all she could think to say. "...Thank you..."

[Melody]

Melody just stood there, watched, let them do their thing. They finally decided to talk with each other, mission accomplished. She clenched her hands together and just stared at them. In a way, she was glad she actually managed to get to them. Not only that, she was proud of herself. She had doubts and she was scared- She talked about something she never experienced before and never should at any point of her life, but she used her knowledge about feelings(and surprisingly music as well) to explain it.

A certain sentence the other Pearl used intrigued her in particular. The one about covering up feelings. Was that what Cream was doing as well? She believed she had to hide her problems so others could rely on her. Was that wrong? But what if someone would throw her away because of those problems and feelings? Black Pearl in a way was free, she wasn't a Pearl anymore. But Cream would remain this way. The old habits would have to remain as well, at least for now.

Melody was here to relax and rethink some things. But it seems she was more confused than before. She took a look at the other Pearl and noded with a small smile on her face "You are welcome." 

[Black opal]

At that Carnelian smiled and nodded before she would lift Black Pearl up and pull her into a kiss, this held for a few seconds before their forms became shapeless and their gems began to glow, their forms now meshed together again, their gems moving up to their spots before Black Opal stood there again, Black Pearl obviously had more influence with the appearance change, her claws for one appeared on the fusion, as well as a few details from her own outfit, including a choker she wore. The fusion stretched and smiled, she looked refreshed and relaxed as she turned to look at Melody. "Thank you so much for helping us see what we needed." She would say happily. She moved over and gave Melody a quick hug before turning towards the exit. "I hope we can run into each other again soon and talk about some less stressful stuff." She says before walking over, opening the door and walking down the hall with a bounce in her step.

[Melody]

Melody wasn't sure of what to think about the affection Carnelian showered the Black Pearl with. She moved her sight away from the pair when their mouths were about to meet. She soon noticed the bright light and tried to find them, but there were nowhere to be seen, the Black Opal stood now where they once were.

She smiled when she saw the fusion's expression- another happy client. She soon felt the pair of hands grabbing her tightly. Was this... a hug? She had never been hugged before. Her look showed a discomfort, but it didn't feel that bad, just new and odd. As a response she just patted her back "You did most of the job." She started to get really uncomfortable and wanted to be released from this embrace, fortunately the Fusion did just that. 

She saw them leaving and noded before saying a quiet "See you later." Pearl wondered if they were meant to happen here, if she was meant to help them out. It didn't matter now, she has been gone for long enough and her desk in the medical centre waited for her. And so she left as well.
