Only a few miles from shore, a black cargo ship headed for the city. This ship was massive and was by no means an ordinary cargo ship. The steal of the great boat was like that of a warship; that is what it was being used for. It crashed into tall waves and tore onward, straight toward its destination; the small dock near the beach. The part of the ship that was visible was easily over one hundred feet tall. The deck was marked by several cranes, enormous steel crates of weapons and other supplies, and the more than occasional group of human soldiers moving with urgency. These were soldiers from a foreign land; a very distant and mysterious place. They did not belong to any known land, rather, these individuals were a group of passionless rouges; advanced pirates. How they could have even obtained such fine weaponry and gear was unknown to the gem trailing them.
Just a few feet beneath the surface of the water, a solitary gem clung to a chain attached to the ship. Variscite had spent over three years of her life in silent contemplation every since she left the Broken Gems and officially cut ties with Homeworld. She was on the run, being constantly pursued by soldiers of Homeworld. At first she was only considered a minor inconvenience. Several quarts soldiers were sent after her. However, Variscite disposed of these gems. This went on for a long time, with Variscite defeating or shattering any of the gems who opposed her. Eventually an emerald was tasked by Yellow Diamond with the mission of shattering or capturing the renegade gem. The emerald had an entire fleet at its disposal and sent several skilled quartz and other solders of Yellow. Many of these warriors were elite and gave Variscite a harder time, but when even a few White Diamond Elite troupes were sent in with the task of eliminating her instead of corrupted gems, she could hold out no longer and fled. Variscite left civilization, hopping to prevent innocent humans from dying because of something they were not responsible for. The gem had over a dozen near death encounters with Homeworld forces or corrupted gems and isolated herself on an island. She spent her time there training, honing her fighting skills and came to terms with her own twisted life and bitterness. She gained experience and became less chaotic, not seeing everyone around her as an enemy and even helped humans on occasion from the shadows. Now Homeworld seemed to have forgotten about her. She was just one gem after all. Variscite had come out of hiding only to find news of peaceful times ending. Even humans were fighting against each other more these days it seemed. Rouges from some island in the east were wrecking havoc, obstructing the peace. Tension among gems were rising. A war was brewing. And now, Variscite had chosen to end her silence. She had to stop these pirates from the evil they intended.
Variscite smirked grimly as the optimal time grew near. The waves crashed, and there was a measure of peace in the water; enough for the female gem to catch another precious breath of air. But this time she climbed the chain of the anchor and placed her feet on the boat avoiding the huge, rotating blades under the ship and climbed to a place where she figured her grappling hooks could latch onto a hold. Unfortunately she was spotted by chance before the optimal time came. Several men fired weapons at the green haired gem. She used the cover she still had as an advantage and ran the rest of the way up the boat vertically with the aid of her grapples, as the hooks were actually sharp enough and tough enough to tear through the steel of the ship. Variscite flung herself into the air, her grappling hooks fully extended; thirty feet long. The men shot with their guns, wondering why the strange, green creature had made such a fatal mistake as to send herself to the mercy of countless bullets. Their thoughts were answered when Variscite spun the chains of her weapons around her body, continually weaving the chains so that her body was completely covered by the spiraling mass. Bullets bounced harmlessly away as the still somewhat unstable gem's blood lust surged. She began her inevitable fall to the deck as a spiraling projectile of doom, unraveling her chains at the last moment to slash at her foolishly close enemies. Blood covered the floor near Variscite as she quickly disposed of the fourteen soldiers near her; feeling grateful that she could now advance on the horrifying number of remaining pirates with several metal structures for cover. Fighting them all at once would be suicide, but then again, so was engaging this many at all.
