Name: Red Pearl
Appeared gender: Female
Appeared age: 17
Gemstone: A Bright Red Pearl
Gemstone location: On her shoulder
Faction: Homeworld/Blue Diamond's Court
Corrupted: No
Appearance: Her skin's a pale red. Her hair is shoulder-length and is a dark red color. She's thin and is of average height for a pearl. She wears a red bodysuit with sheer, puffy sleeves. She also wears flats on her feet. Her eyes are brown.
Personality: Red is very soft spoken and always seems to sound nervous. She's rather clumsy, always tripping over something or nearly dropping something. Because of this, she's always apologizing and wondering why she can't be a more graceful pearl. She worries that because of her clumsiness she may one day end up finding herself shattered. She longs to be a gem that is reliable and elegant, but she is quick to cry when under pressure or in stressful situations and she goes into a state where she essentially shuts down.
Despite all this, she's a good listener and she does what she can to cheer up those she's close to, even if she accidentally makes a fool of herself trying, she always means well. She's in awe of the world around her, seeming to find little things that she thinks are beautiful and because of this might get distracted. She has a lot of thoughts that she never shares with anyone due to her being a pearl, she's just meant to serve not talk after all. Due to pent up thoughts, she may occasionally mumble under her breath. She can be a little more talkative with close friends, but is quiet around strangers.
Red dislikes combat as it's not something that comes naturally for her, plus it's scary. When she does summon her weapon, it's only under a circumstance where she has no choice-- not that she's actually good at using it, she'd just blindly swing it around in the hopes of scaring off enemies.
Likes: The sun, flowers, being praised by her Sapphire, singing
Dislikes: Being belittled, making mistakes, loud noises, crowds, arguments, combat
Fears: Being shattered, making some huge mistake in public in front of a crowd, the idea of her losing her Sapphire forever
Weapon: A dagger. The blade is silver and the hilt is colored red. She isn't fond of using it, and she doesn't think of herself as very good at using it. She doesn't understand why she has it anyway, she tells herself that a pearl like her has no business having some dagger.
Abilities:
Ability 1: Object Storage: She's able to store many objects in her gem, this was mostly used when she served her Sapphire who's belongings she stored.
Ability 2: N/A
Fusions: None at the moment, though she's admittedly curious about it, even though she feels like she shouldn't be.
History: Red Pearl was gifted to a Sapphire, who she loyally served for a long time. The Sapphire was fairly kind to her, if a bit distant. She'd often ask for Red to store things for her or to do things for her, but aside from that there was no other real interaction between them. But over time, things changed between them the more they were around each other, and Red gradually grew more comfortable with the Sapphire, and Sapphire felt more at ease around Red. They became quite close and Red started to really look up to Sapphire. Her Sapphire was calm and collected and always seemed to know what to do, she could even see the future. She was everything that Red wished to be, why couldn't she be as wonderful as her Sapphire? But she knew what her purpose in the caste was, she was just some clumsy pearl who served others. But knowing this didn't make her feel any better. Still, she wished to be on her Sapphire's level, to be her equal. Maybe even someone she could rely on. When she nervously mentioned this to her Sapphire one day, she was quick to say that Red was wrong. She said that Red already was someone she could rely on, she said that Red was someone Sapphire felt she could actually talk to. Hearing that made Red feel a little better, and she smiled and gently held onto her Sapphire's hand, saying she felt like she could talk to Sapphire too.
Something happened then. Red felt..strange. She tried to open her eyes but she wasn't Red, she was becoming..someone else. This sensation was quick to end, and Red felt herself falling backwards onto the floor, her Sapphire beside her, looking just as shocked as Red felt. Sapphire said it was fusion, or at least she thinks that's what that was, neither had ever fused before. It wasn't a complete one, Sapphire guessed that they only got part-way fused before it came undone. That was a good thing, Sapphire had said, they didn't have a justified reason to fuse, what would everyone think if they saw them? Her Sapphire looked scared and said they should never do this again.
But Red couldn't stop thinking about it. The feeling she had felt when they were in the middle of fusing..it was nice. A small part of her wanted to experience it again, and she felt horrible about it. Her Sapphire had clearly not wanted to, so why couldn't she stop thinking about it? But then, one day, her Sapphire was going on a trip to earth, and Red was to tag along. This wasn't unusual, Sapphire went on trips before, and Red often went too, but earth wasn't really a place they'd often go to, but she went nonetheless. The two were sent to earth where Sapphire was to predict the development of the Kindergarten and if it would have smooth sailing or not. The trip was rather uneventful, Red spent most of her time there to the side, quietly awaiting any orders as her Sapphire tended to her duties. However, when it was time to go home, they encountered a problem-- there was news that the Galaxy Warp had been destroyed. Sapphire's Ruby Guards were quick to react, deciding that they were going to go punch whoever was responsible in the face. Sapphire said they shouldn't head back towards the warps, if they did she saw them getting captured by a group of rebels. She said the best plan for now would be to go deeper into the primary kindergarten and away from any kindergarten workers, for Sapphire saw them getting destroyed. So deeper in they went. But they ran into trouble. There was a creature that none of them could identify. It was quite big and didn't seem to be in control of it's actions. The Ruby guards fused in an attempt to fight it off, but they didn't stand a chance. It poofed them and their gems were crushed underneath it's feet. Sapphire seemed to think for a moment and then turned to Red. "The only way I can see us getting out of this is if we fus--" She didn't get to finish her sentence. The big creature grabbed her and in what seemed like an instant had poofed her and shattered her, the pieces of her gem falling to the ground. Panicked, and terrified for her life, Red grabbed up the pieces of her Sapphire's gem and ran as fast as she could. The beast gave chase, but after some running Red came across a place where she could hide-- it was a hole. She quickly crawled into it, pressing herself up against the walls as she waited for what felt like a couple very long seconds.
She seemed to have lost the beast. She felt tears running down her face as she looked down at the blue pieces of her Sapphire that she held in the palm of her hand. She knew her Sapphire had been shattered, but she didn't want to let her go. Her Sapphire was her everything, she was her purpose. Without her..who even was she? So, she bubbled her Sapphire's shattered pieces and stored them in her gem. She curled up in the hole, she felt like she couldn't go back to Homeworld, not without her Sapphire. She couldn't remember where the warps were from here anyways, Sapphire was the one who knew everything. And surely there had to be a way to undo a shattering? Red just..had to find it. She thought about her Sapphire's last words and wondered why it made her feel so..warm. She would definitely find a way to bring her Sapphire back.
Character arcs:
1. Coming to terms with being her own person outside of Sapphire, that she isn't just a servant.
2. Realization that fusion between two different gems isn't wrong and it's something she doesn't have to feel bad about.
3. Figure out how to properly fight with her dagger.
4. Becoming more assertive and confident, actually learning to like herself.
5. Accepting her Sapphire is shattered and she can't bring her back, she has to move on.
