Okay so i figured i would throw this up to see the overall consensus. I've already had several people mention a interest in creating a Metal race characters but I did want to see a full poll about it before I fully decide whether to roll them out.
So you probably need some background on what they are and how they deviate from gems.
This isn't of course the full bulk of the details, there is a full thing explanation of how Metal Homeworld works and how they broke off from the gems. Along with a lot of other smaller details, but this seemed irrelevant right now. The stuff above is the best brief of their immediate history and how they are different from gems.
So you probably need some background on what they are and how they deviate from gems.
Overview: Metal and Alloys are a species very similar to gems that have also been occupying planets throughout the Galaxy. Like gems, they have a chunk of metal or metals affixed on their bodies but unlike gems they can shift the piece around to be located on any part of their body. The current Metal Homeworld Government, unlike gems, have a firm stance against the terraforming of other planets with sentient life and simply occupy these locations through diplomatic agreements, however they also have a peace treaty with the Homeworld gems that allows them to visit certain gems control planets and to trade tech between the two races. The metals function as a monarchy with their supreme ruler of Rhodium having say over all affairs. Metals are actually not immortal like gems, although they can live for billions of years their metal will deteriorate and eventually crumble, although this varies from metal to metal. Finally unlike gems the metals forms are not hard light, instead they are made out of a unique alien alloy, this makes their forms much denser than gems and as such they cannot shapeshift, by extension this means they cannot to eat.
Along with this stuff Metals also have some other cultural differences, the main one being that they are not a caste based society and fusions are seen more for utility then for warfare. Finally Metals have currently just (100 or so years ago) come off the back end of a large scale civil war regarding whether they should terraform planets with sentient life for supplies or Only terraform the way rarer uninhabited planets which yield less supplies. (uninhabited won and Rhodium became the new leader of their Homeworld).
Abilities: (all Metals/Alloys can do these, albeit some need to train)
Unrefined Forms: All metals are able to assume monstrous forms when they please, this was actually the origin of the corruption virus the gems face but unlike those gems who are infected, Metal have full control of this transformation and can change from and to it relatively easily. This like corruption does not give any sort of power boost though and you can’t summon things in this form.
Regenerations: Metals cannot retreat in there Metals like Gems can, instead fatal wounds cause pain and discomfort. Metals will heal over time (often taking several threads to full healthy from major wounds) but the fastest method is actually if a metal can make contact with a non-sentient metal or alloy. The contact with the metal will increase the healing rate relative to the amount of metal they are in contact with (The more the faster the wound will heal, small wounds in general heal quicker than big wounds). If a Metal’s core (basically the metal chunk on them) is damaged Roses fountain can heal it but it is slightly slower than gems.
Armour summoning: metals are able to form armour from their metals and use them for defence and sometimes attack. These can range from gauntlets to boots. Basically they can be anything designed to defend your body. The strength of these varies from metal to metal.
Cube creation: Coloured cubes which can hold small objects and be warped to locations that they have created beacons for. They act basically like gem bubbles.
Metal fusions: Two Metals or more can synchronize (Usually using a dance) to form a fusion. These fusions are often bigger than normal metals and significantly more powerful. However the more polar the personalities of the fusing metals are the harder it is to do. Metals that are fused also have the risk of losing their individuality of they remain fused for too long. Metals and Gems can cross fuse aswell but stability of the fusion is much more delicate. More information is Here
Unique Ability: Metals also have unique abilities that almost no one else has. Examples of this include, sand manipulation, lava immunity, cloud creation, lighting creation and so on.
