Howlite rubbed the back of his head. "I have gotten into quite a few scrapes. " Then he looked at Variscite. "Now then, there's a reason I'm a tough opponent. You see most gems spend their lives mastering combat techniques. They train to learn moves to help them fight. Me? I think that's just ridiculous and time consuming. I do everything on the spot. It's what makes me such a good hunter. That little scrap we had? I can teach you just how to do it. You see you're much like me. We're both insane. Most say that's a crutch. But in reality.... It's your most powerful weapon. That's what makes gems into monsters." He then looked to Sulfur. "Oh I think this will work out just fine."
"Very well Howlite. Use whatever methods that you can to train this young grasshopper." Sulfur said, giving a brief nod. "You two can talk alone for a while... I have to get a drink."
With that, Sulfur waved and walked out of the room. Walking down the hallway he headed toward the west wing. He wasn't exactly addicted to coffee, but the other's with their drinks made him thirsty. As he approached the coffee maker he started to drop Ice into it, creating iced coffee. A small female human who was about eighteen approached him and tapped his shoulder. She wore a maid's outfit and had her brown hair in a braid. He turned toward her as he poured.
"Oh it's you. How are you liking the place?"
"Oh, it's fine, just fine. You could have asked me to bring you some coffee you know..."
"What's this? I thought you said that you had no desire to meet my allies. You said that they were crazy, well they are, so I suppose that is fair."
"I want to Serve, Count. That is why I am here."
"I thought that you were doing this for the money... ah you humans are so odd! Alright, in the future I will ask you to serve me coffee. I suppose it would save me time."
"Th-Thank you Count..."
The human walked away briskly.
"Just like a pearl..." Sulfur muttered as he took his drink.
A few cracks started to appear. The wall smashed open. A corrupted gem monster resembling a cheetah jumped into the base. It whipped around and gazed outside. Dark jumped into the castle and plunged two knives into the beasts head. The beast poofed and Dark landed on the floor. Dark ran back into the smokescreen he had created. He came out with the beasts gem. It was shattered and in a bubble. Dark teleported it off. He walked towards the group.
Sorry I'm late. So Sulfur, what did I miss? Hopefully not to much.
Dark looked at the new gem. Maybe a recruit. They did need more members. Dark then looked around at everyone. They all seemed to have drinks. Dark did have something in his gem for such an occasion. Dark pulled out a unidentified red liquid stored in a wine bottle.
I see we are having a drink. Please, allow me to join in. What are we drinking to? Humans usually celebrate some sort of occasion with a drink.
Howlite grinned when Dark appeared. "You made it! And I see you brought Sherry! Come here. We're drinking to celebrate a very special occasion. I'd like you to meet my new squire Variscite. She's new and untrained but she's very high in potential. She wishes to join our ranks." Then he grabbed the bottle of wine from Variscite. "It's Amontillado. Here." He took a small sip before handing it to Dark. "That's a good bottle. I won that in Empire City. It's from the Victorian era. I still can't believe whoever bought this didn't drink it. For 150 years this bottle was unopened. Well now it is! Good to have you here Dark." He then turned to Variscite. "This is Dark Spinel. The 3rd member of our squad. Master of stealth and combat. He'll stalk from the shadows, pin you down, and never let you see him coming. Except for me of course. He can't sneak up on me. Thanks to this" He held his finger to his brain. "I can see him all the time. I'm like a psycho Santa Claus!" He laughed at the thought.
As Sulfur walked back toward the balcony another human approached him. This human wore an outfit that resembled that of a mechanic. She has green goggles and a short hair cut. She was carrying a stack of dishes precariously as she walked past him. As the dishes fell Sulfur shot out his hand and caught them. He eyed her accusingly. She then hid her face behind two dishes.
"I told you not to carry these down the hallway!"
"Uh...but they were dirty, and I needed to wash them Count!"
"That's not your job, I have a maid! Stick to your duties!"
"Yes... uh, your dark spinel has arrived!"
Sulfur ran down the hallway gulping his mocha. When he arrived he was somehow still in good condition.
"You are correct Count. Some opponents say that do not fight honorably, that I will take an unfair advantage. But this world isn't fair, nothing is. So it is only natural that I would use dirty tricks. A beautiful defeat is still a defeat, and an ugly victory is still a victory."
Variscite considered Howlite's words. Everything on the spot, huh? It seemed crazy, but sometimes you don't have the time to calculate every move your opponent will make. She Moved from her place and stood next to a shriveled tree, turning to Howlite.
"So that's why I couldn't read your eyes. You fought with skill, but did not have to plan in advance. For this reason I could not foil plan of action." This strategy will certainly help improve my abilities."
Variscite briefly saluted the dark member who had just arrived and extended a hand, smiling.
"Hello, my name is Variscite. I am deleted to be a part of this organization. Who might you be."
"You are correct Variscite. I'll teach you my ways soon enough. But know this. Lady Quartz and Dark don't know what I do. Don't tell them." Howlite then laughed as Sulfur came. "In a rush Boss? It's good we're all here. Just waiting on Lady Quartz to get here. I can't wait to hear about the assignment! I hope I get to capture at least one gem today." Howlite licked his lips just thinking about all the gems he may be able to put in his torture room. He could have a really good time. Assuming of course this assignment allows him a couple of captures. This reminded him of the old days. He remembered the old days of laying on rooftops with his breath held, waiting to pull the trigger and fullfil his contract. This was kinda like that. But it was even better because now he had others. He had other elite killers who not only accepted him, but liked having him there. It felt good to be a knight that's for sure.
The clouds were grey and the sky was dark, she would return again to the wasteland, an area in which filled with nothing but misshapen rock surfaces, dead trees and few crappy structures aside from a few. Suddenly it started to rain, thunder echoed through the area of this vast land in which then screeches could be head from a distant, this wasn't no ordinary screech, It was a sound of two new gem mutants, walking alongside there creator Lady Blue Quartz. She finally did it, capable of making gem mutants maintainable in combat, there light bodies were durable and stronger than any gem mutant she has ever created, she would feel the light manifesting from the combined gem shards in there chest. having five arms on there bodes they had four eyes on there naval area and two feet to stand on, of a towering 11ft they stood rather intimating towards humans and gems of weakness towards them. As Lady Blue continued to walk through the area she would then be clicking her navy blue heels on the corrupted ground she would then start chuckle while examining the rain, she wasn't wet as she had a giant umbrella with her, she looked a bit different aside from her usual large, long curled sky blue hair; she had on a giant ruffle dress queen's would wear in a dark to light blue color scheme; she'd also have on white gloves that ruffled on the ends with her clear visor on her eye that would be in the shape of there symbol.
Lady Blue would then give the umbrella to the left gem mutant letting her hold it for her, as they walked in sync she knew all too well of this area in which then she saw the mansion, it brought back memories to when she first saw this place, she would then turn her head west seeing it, a castle, so this would be the surprise she was awaiting to see, it was indeed a astounding design in which then she would head over to the draw bridge and walk alongside the path, having her gem mutant guards walking behind her in unison. Lady Blue would smile at the door as screaming human statues would be there as a knocker for the great door," Quite the surprise my friend" she'd say internally towards herself. Lady Blue would then open the door as she would then know that gems were through the halls probably not even able to hear the knocking if she did any, as she headed inside her gem mutant guards would follow her, she headed through the halls listening towards voices in which then she would head at a door. The gem mutants would open it and head towards the sides of the door allowing her to going through," stand guard../color]" she'd say towards her creations still facing forward gazing upon the group," Greetings you all, good to see you all again" she'd say with a smile she would then blink as someone new was in the room," And you are?" she'd say calmly in her sapphire like voice awaiting for her to speak as she knew this was a gem.
Dark shook Variscite's hand. My name is Dark. I'll have to get to know you as well Variscite.
Dark looked over at Sulfur.
Sulfur! Good to see you. Has Blue arrived yet?
Dark walked over to Sulfur. How long had it been since he had seen him? A few weeks at least. Hold on, the Fire Agate had mentioned him and Blue. They must have met before. Maybe on the same beach. Fire Agate... one of the few gems who could stand up to Dark. And he was an Agate! It didn't matter now. But Dark couldn't get over the fact that an Agate had beaten him. It just didn't seem right. Dark would question Sulfur or Blue on this later. There was no way a typical Agate could beat Dark. There had to be more to him than meets the eye.
Howlite smiled as Lady Quartz arrived. "Ah Lady Quartz! Good to see you again!" He had the usual crazy look in his eyes. "Well now you're here I'd like you to meet my squire Variscite. She's a very talented and clever gem who would like to join our ranks. I believe I can train her to be an elite like us. She's got potential." Then he turned to Dark. "Hey there Dark! I see you've met my squire. It's been quite some time since I last saw you. How has everything been going?" He was glad they were all here. The gang was probably the closest thing he had to family. He was close with all of them. Except for Lady Quartz but he simply had to get to know her. But he felt a strong bond with the ones he did know. These gems were his true people. Not the loyals. Not the rebels. It was this rag tag group of killers. He couldn't be more at home.
"We are gathered here on this momentous day to debate the joining of a new member." Sulfur began, gesturing toward Variscite. "Variscite here has shown expert class fighting ability against Howlite, though her victory was majorly based on luck she did extraordinarily. You three and I are the founders of this organization and reserve the right to decide if she joins us or not."
Sulfur then looked around the room.
"Variscite will, if accepted go on missions with all of us as a sort of initiation. She will go monster hunting with me, Howlite will take her to train." He then focused on Dark and Blue Quartz. "As for you two, you can each take her on a private mission afterward for whatever training you think is fit."
He then gestured toward Howlite.
"My good knight has informed me of an event concerning rebels. The two of us will have to attend it alone." Sulfur cleared his throat. "Afterward I will come to check on your progress. What do you think? Does this gem look fit to be one of us?"
She seems good enough, but I'll have to see how she fairs in battle. Is she really as cold-hearted as the rest of us?
Dark pondered that in his head. All of the Broken Gems were monsters. Whether they showed it on the outside. Like Himself and Sulfur. Or kept it hidden under the surface. They all shattered and killed, burned and destroyed. Every day. Variscite seemed to be keeping it hidden. Sulfur had suggested that Dark and Blue would test Varis, maybe that would be what Dark would test her on shattering. Not corrupted gems. A real one. If she could do it, she would have proved herself to him. Dark looked at Blue. How would she respond to the new addition to the team?
Howlite grinned. "Well you know I want her in!" Then he became curious. "Boss? You said that once everyone arrived you had a job for us. What is it? Howlite was eager to know. Every time Sulfur had a job for him, it always ended with either a new gem in his collection or a delivery to Morion. He hoped it would be the first thing but the second was still acceptable so long as he didn't have to put up with Morion. Howlite never understood why Sulfur liked him so much. He was like the opposite of Howlite. He even asked Sulfur to poofed him. He wasn't mad at Sulfur. But Morion? Howlite would give anything for a chance to put that stuck up Quartz in his torture chamber. The thought of that made him smile.
Variscite stood firm with a respectful smile, acknowledging each of the members who stood before her. With their support, she could gain the power she craved for. Training with these elites would surely prove useful in battles yet to come. Although she did not seem to know much of the blue gem or the one known as 'Dark', Variscite was determined to become acquainted with both of them soon. Everything was falling into place.
Variscite stood in the center of the killers, as if she were a prize being auctioned to greedy buyers. When she poofed, she would next need to appear with their logo. It appeared to by a cross between the Diamond symbol and the Crystal gem star, yet a jagged line tore it down the middle, possibly showing the Broken gems desire to kill off both sides. What a fun challenge this would be.
Blue would smile towards Howlite and nodded, she would then turn her head towards sulfur as he would be speaking towards them on the new member known as Variscite. She would listen attentively towards him and nodded at the option she was given pertaining Howlite new squire, she would then have her arms behind her back while nodding towards her two fully developed gem mutants allowing them to leave the room and patrol the halls. As they left with echoing screeching behind them Lady Blue would then close her eye contemplating for a bit while speaking," As long as she is an asset towards the team then there is no problem, im aware improving is always the key however if I'm sure your able and capable, more gems shards more gem mutants. So that's a yes for me..." she'd say in her calm sapphire like voice. Blue oddly overall had a gem mutants army capable of taking down the other gems if she wanted however some weren't develop efficiently like others were during her test in which then she would have to continue to improve there combined light bodies.
Rat: I'm gonna try my darnedest. Posted an ad for RP in the Character Plot area, so alls I gotta do now is wait I think?

This Roleplay is a prequel to Steven Universe to an extent with some slight retconing and its own progression to the story that will turn out differently to how stuff plays out in the show. Thanks to the message by Rose Quartz several gems are rising up to protect Earth and have labelled themselves as the Crystal Gems. Others on earth are remaining aligned to Homeworld though despite the isolation of Earth from Homeworld
All gems on earth are still stranded, the communication hub is still offline and all the space warps are shattered, it has now been revealed that this is the work of Rose Quartz and her small group known as the Crystal gems. They have rebelled against Homeworld and have chosen to protect the Earth (Trapping themselves on Homeworld to keep the warps down).
Now both sides are fighting among themselves along with fighting against the 'Corruption' a virus is infecting many gems turning most of them into mindless monsters, but those with a stronger will seem to becoming something more sinister.
The Game has changed now. The question has finally been posed, are you against Homeworld or allied with them. Or do you have your own agenda that may or may not been assisted by the ‘Corruption’. Regardless the seeds have been placed down and although it is only the beginning the fight for or against Earth and the corruption has begun. The choice is yours for how it is shaped on the Original Steven Universe Roleplay Site.
